If you are buying this phone, then you are on a budget. So comparisons to similarly priced other smartphones is inevitable. I have used samsung phones priced at $100 and they are no where close to this champ, which I bought on a Blackfriday sale for $10. The purpose was to give it to my one year old nephew, however, her mom ended up using that giving her son the samsung phone she used. The touch is better, The battery life is better than my $200 moto x. Feels nice in hand, the screen is better than similarly priced phones.
The only problem was it was verizon locked, Well, not a problem so much if you know to use the internet and access the xda-developers page.
15 minutes of work and the phone was ready for use with a AT&T sim.
A $10 smart phone that works better than a $150 smart phone. You can't go wrong with that.

Purchased this phone specifically to try Verizon service. I found the phone easy to set up and I like the size. I currently use a Nexus 5 as my primary phone, and I find the Nexus 5 is at the outside limit for my tastes in the size of a phone. The moto e is just about ¼ inch narrower, and a ½ inch shorter, which is about perfect for ease of use. If I wanted a tablet I would use a tablet….
The charger included with the phone is one piece and the cable is integral with the charger body (it can't be unplugged from the charger). You must have a separate Micro USB cable to connect to your computer.
The screen quality is good and the 540 x 960 245 ppi pixel density is just fine. It is a nice bright screen, even with the screen brightness turned down to the lower end of the scale. I really don’t even notice much practical difference when compared to my Nexus 5. It does have a small “blue patch” about a ¼ inch in diameter, which can only be seen in dim light on a black screen. I am pretty sure this is a defect of some kind as the phone has never been dropped or mistreated.
The 4g speeds with the Verizon service is plenty fast for me to watch a movie with no spooling except at the very beginning (which is normal). I especially like the FM radio included in the moto e and have used it extensively since I purchased it (Being only 8 GB there is not much room for music, unless you purchase a micro SD card.) The processor does everything I ask it to do with the 1 GB of RAM, and although I can tell it is slower than my Nexus 5 phone, it is not a deal-breaker by any means. The sound quality on calls is fine and I have had no trouble understanding callers.
The included case was not high quality, and is not much of a case. In order to use it you must remove the band that protects the memory card and the SIM card, and replace it with the blue case made primarily of hard blue plastic. It seems that all it would protect is the back of the phone from scratches. I won't be using it, and will purchase a different case if deemed necessary.
I am less impressed with Verizon’s pay-as-you go service. I specifically delayed purchasing a month’s worth of service, because I needed to use the phone for a few days at the first part of January. Instead of Verizon giving me 30 days of service for my month purchase, they decided to end the service on January 1 (It was purchased on December 3 when I purchased the month of service.) They also gave me a phone number that had not been kept out of circulation long enough, and I receive a fair number of texts and phone calls that have nothing to do with me. Although their regular customers have some good and what seem to be simple options to change their phone number, not so much for the prepaid customer. There are also Verizon supplied apps on the phone that I don’t use and don’t ever plan to use. I they could be removed, they would-but alas, it seems you cannot get rid of them…..
I would recommend this phone to a friend who wanted to try the android ecosystem, or wanted to try out the whole smart-phone scene without having to make a big investment of money. It is a fine and useful secondary phone for me.

The phone feels nice and fast when in use. I like the screen and its picture quality when viewing content. You can add at microSD card to the phone to help mitigate the 8gb internal storage. For the price, this is a great pone.

Overall, a very nice phone that punches well above its weight and truly does 90% of what flagships can do for an eighth of the cost. If you want a phone for decent multitasking for daily tasks, while you're on the move, look no further. I got used to the qHD res pretty fast and for most purposes it's way more than livable, thanks to decent colors, brightness, and viewing angles. If you want to consume lots of video.. until Google gets Chromecast working with a direct LTE connection, maybe go with a Nexus 6. For the money though, this is a way smarter iPhone 4S alternative.

What a buy!!! I was able to swap out the SIM card for an activated SIM of my provider Tr----ne and go through online instructions to use the phone with a GSM SIM. Of course you could do the same with a GSM BYOD SIM kit as well.
Phone is waterproof, keeps an excellent charge for days if you aren't using constantly and you can apply different outside phone rings to personalize the colors of your phone. There are like 6 to 7 different colors which your phone could look different for a week if you changed them every day!! Camera is mediocre but decent with HDR ability.
You will not go wrong with this one and you will thank yourself for days to come if you upgrade to this GEM!!!!

I have a 2 yr old higher-end Motorola phones. This one is almost just as nice. I got it for my dad, and I should've got one for myself just to have around. They were $10 at one time. I would easily pay $50 or $60 for this phone. These are factory unlocked but Verizon does something to them to force you to use it on their network. I followed some simple instructions on XDA forums to unlock it for T-Mobile. This phone is fast and smooth. Plus it has an micro-SD card slot. I stuck in a 32gb card and now it's a perfect phone for anyone. There is some Verizon cr@p-ware loaded, but otherwise, it is a pure Android experience. Highly recommended!

Excellent phone. Feels great in the hand and i can hardly tell any performance difference with my 2012 Moto X. Near-stock Android. Only negatives I discovered so far are a software glitch in which the Google play store app crashes when you type a search term. Work-around: use voice search instead. I don't really blame the phone for this - it has to be software/Google/Android issue, and i expect an update will come along that fixes it. Another minor shortcoming is that there is no flash/camera LED, so you can't use it as a flashlight like most other phones - no big deal.

This cellphone from Motorola is a cheap alternative to all of the other expensive options available from other manufacturers. Easy to use, it has a 5MP camera and the SD slot helps as the internal memory is only 5GB, most of which is taken up by the apps.
Overall, I find that this is a good alternative for a person seeking an inexpensive smartphone.
