I took a chance on this movie and was rewarded . This movie is so much fun. If you like a movie about good vs evil this is for you. Highly recommended‼️

Not bad could have been a bit better. Maybe I’ll watch again when I’m drunk

Joe Begos is back with another drug-fueled neon nightmare. After Bliss I was really excited to see VFW and I wasn't let down. This flick is a very fun version of the "trapped by overwhelming forces" trope mixed with over-the-top gore and a magnificent body count. Most of the cast is strong, with Stephen Lang really standing out and seeming to have a good ole time as the blood splatters and the limbs fly. The characters of Lizard and Gutter were not played as well as I would have liked, especially for being the only women in it. All the vets do exactly what they need to do to move stuff along. The villain was played well enough, though he was kind of bland. I often love these oversaturated films when they are in horror adjacent and I love the look here as well. I have seen some talk of it being so dark that people cannot see things so I went in expecting to have to futz with my brightness, but I never had to, in fact, I could probably have turned it down. Maybe that was due to watching the 4k disc, I don't know for sure what I do know is it looked great. While sparse I did really enjoy the music as well. I wouldn't want a soundtrack but I will be happy to hear it again on a rewatch. There was some stuff near the end I had hoped they would veer away from but it ended up going a pretty predictable route which isn't the end of the world, but a few changes could possibly have made it more enjoyable. VFW was a very enjoyable splatterfest of a movie with a lot going for it. The women could have been played a bit stronger and the villain could have benefitted from a little scenery-chewing, but overall you end up with a very enjoyable film that almost feels like it could have been pulled from the same universe as Robocop. Oh... Stephen Lang vs. Kurtwood Smith, now there is a movie I want to see!

I was walking by this in the store, and I figured that I would pick it up to use my $5 gift certificate. I'm glad that I did because this was a nice, fun movie in the vein of Assault on Precinct 13. They did a good job with the old guys having to defend their lives in a bar. It didn't reinvent the wheel, and it's not going to make you fall head over heels with it, but while you're watching it the movie will entertain you. It's very bloody though, so if you're not into a lot of gore then this isn't something you'd like.

VFW is a pleasant surprise and a must see for fans of throwback horror films. The movie utilizes practical gore effects as opposed to CGI, which is a rarity these days (and is a very welcome sight). If you are a fan of horror, and don't mind a quite a bit of gore, you should definitely watch VFW.

Beautifully shot, well-acted and bloody violent, VFW is an homage to 80s/siege movies like Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 (even Steve Moore's electronic score is perfectly in sync with Carpenter's audible output). It's bare-bones in terms of plot, but that's to be expected. It was the grisly ensemble extravaganza I expected and definitely director Joe Begos' best flick thus far.

Mannnnnn oh mannnnn! !!! Now I wasn’t expecting much from this movie but a cheesy b movie flick but man was I wrong. This a gory action packed grindhouse feel from the good old 70’s and 80’s. The plot is way out the window but once it’s set in motion you’ll forget all about the plot. And let’s not forget the all star cast of veterans from our favorite retro films growing up still showing that they can keep up with the big dogs. Any way it’s a must have if your a grind house fan.

Never heard of this movie until I saw it Best Buy. Thought I would take a chance and it was just weird enough that I actually enjoyed it.Would recommend

A 90 min scuzzball, genre gore-fest...and an absolute blast. It would make a great double-feature with Assault on Precinct 13. Especially since it's Carpenter-esque qualities are undeniable. Great cast, kill gags and practical effects.

VFW is a great throwback to 80s Grindhouse B-movies, full of practical effects, gore & great actors. It’s a hybrid of if The Warriors and Mad Max had a love child. Fun movie.

This is kind of like the Expendables in the sense that older action heroes are kicking major butt! You can definitely tell that this is a Fangoria movie with blood by the gallon and Stephen Lang is pretty awesome in this!

What a great movie! Full of action, humor and many well known, veteran stars. I grew up watching some of the cast when they were younger and it was cool to see they still have great screen presence. I honestly bought it for all of the actors in it, not knowing it was a gory, bloody movie. It was still great and had great special effects.

If you’re looking for great acting, this ain’t it. That being said it is a typical grind house movie and I enjoyed it. The 4K was pretty good

I loved this movie. It kept me entertained the whole way through, not a boring moment. The acting was great and I loved the 80's horror vibes.

The movie is purposefully a B-movie. Its not supposed to be great; its meant to be over the top, crazy and in a way sloppy. If you go into it with that expectation I think you will enjoy it; I sure did!

Great movie with a good story. If your a fan of one location, horror, and gore effects this movie is for you. A group of veterans while trying to help a young girl that runs into their VFW run afoul of a drugged out street gang. Their job is to protect her and the one place they truly enjoy.

We need more movies like this. 80’s Carpenter is a vibe. They have scenes bathed in neon, synth music, bad guys that look like the gang from Death Wish 3, and behave like the gangs from Carpenters Assault on Precinct 13.

This movie actually pulls you in and gets you loving the main character's by rooting for them.
