After watching all of the previous seasons of Vikings you have to wonder if they can keep the magic going, especially after lead Ragnar was killed off. Let me assure you that they can will no drop in quality. The acting and writing on this show is top notch. While not a documentary, I like that the writers use some actual historical events to determine the plot points of the series. The actor playing handicapped son Ivar is amazing with his dynamic emotion. Volume 1 is so good that I can't wait to see Volume 2 and future episodes to come.

Again, an enjoyable and intriguing Vikings installment. A lot of tragedy this season but part of the lore I assume. Alliances change and characters die unexpectedly. Still, an addictive show. I mean you want to watch it just for the location photography. It's awesome. Highly recommended.
The blu ray transfer is excellent especially the sound. You'll notice it during the fight scenes when swords, shields, and fists are making contact.

Sons of Ragnar worth watching

With Ragnar gone a while back, the question was, would this series stay interesting? The sons of Ragnar, each with his different values and goals, definitely fill the dramatic void left by Ragnar's death.
The series has gotten more polished in a movie making sense, with battles more dramatic.
Floki's strained efforts to create a humane utopia show the problems of humans trying to co-operate to better themselves.

We've watched the entire five seasons of the Vikings on TV and own the entire series on DVD. The scripts are well researched and fairly represent the age of the Vikings. We traveled to Norway this summer and our guide also felt the series was well documented. It's a little bloody, but war and fighting usually is.

The Vikings is such a great show, with interesting plots, wonderful acting, and very believable, fluid battle scenes. The show deserves a 5 rating, but splitting up the season into 2 Blu-rays with an exhorbitant price deserves less than a 1 rating! Thanks Best Buy for putting each one on sale, and giving bonus coupons!

Vikings is one of the best shows ever. This DVD covers the time period where Ivor the Boneless is King of Kettegat & actually believes that he is a God. His half-brother Bjorn Ironside gathers his men to take control of Kattegat from Ivor. I will not spoil the outcome for you.

This Vikings season is so sick, I couldn’t wait to watch this season at my own time, it’s bad for ones, but it’s good for others. I still missing Ragnar,
Rolo didn’t do to much on this season.
If you like this style, you must watch this tv season.

This is a dramatization (entertainment) of History. Not, the preaching the former entertainment industry dumps out en-mass. If I want to be preached to I will go to church (or school). The director (Hirst) is a story teller and entertainer.

Those who have followed the series from the beginning won't be disappointed in the continuing saga based on historical characters and settings. The quality of the show has remained consistent and is obviously a labor of love for all involved.

The sons of Ragnar break out into different directions in Season 5 Volume 1. Some will stand with Ivar the Boneless, others will stand with Bjorn for the Battle of their city; and ultimately the viking nation.

great show. its gotten really big. my only gripe is the packaging. the first 4 seasons had a cool outer cover sleeve and looked really cool on the shelf. now they dont match, its just a plain blu ray case. obviously nothing to do with the show but maybe they needed mor budget so they said no more outer cover

And so the saga continues. The quality of the Blu-ray discs is very good and there is no disappointment there. I believe it is time for this series to end however, if you are a fan of this show as we have been from the first I think it would be a shame not to follow it to the surely bloody end.

While the story has gotten a bit diluted and everyone seems dismayed that Ragnar is no longer in the picture, the plot is still strong and acting is great.
