You need this with the remote start. You don't want it to remote start with the hood open.

Its really useful when used along with the remote start kit. It prevents the car from accidentally starting when the hood is open.

The remote starter was a mother's day gift and it was very important to me for Best Buy to get this right. The installation and the product performance was flawless. The buying process, however, was not.. Since my mom lives 2 hours away, I scheduled the installation at her local best buy. The attempts to purchase the product did not go so well. The online process is confusing and cumbersome. I ended up having to go to my local best buy and complete my purchase there. After 2 trips and at least 10 phone calls, I was finally able to purchase the product for installation at my mom's local store

It is what it is, no reason not to give 5 stars. A must have if you want a remote start on your vehicle. Price was fair and was installed with remote.

The auto tech told me this was required for installation so remote start can't start when hood is open. Purchased and was installed with remote start.

I mean, it’s a little connecting wire. I have no idea how it’s doing Or even to write something, you can’t actually look at. But I guess it’s doing its job so way to go.

This is the fourth Viper car starter that I have purchased from Best Buy. Two for my daughter for her two cars and two for my son-in-law, one for his old car and a new one, which will be a Christmas gift, for his new car. The Best Buy installers have done great work in the past and I am sure that they will do the same for my son-in-law. He already has an appointment. I do like that they provided me with the accessories that he will need such as this Ball Bearing Tilt Switch.

This is a safety mechanism to prevent the remote car starter from operating when the hood is open. Completely sensible addition to my purchase.

this is a must with your remote starter package. prevents someone from opening the hood while the car is running

This actually was for a remote start which Best Buy installed on my Tacoma. I had them put in a slight delay which tends to cancel out accidental starts and it works very nicely. I use this all the time to warm or cool my truck before leaving or keeping it comfortable for when my dog rides with me. I have just ordered a new one for my wife's Highlander.
