I of course take the blame for not having a case on phone...but the screen easily cracked,. Just a caution to make sure to buy protective case for this model.

Not noteworthy in any way. Your money would be better spent on almost any Samsung model.

Bought the VM E4 to replace my Moto G3, which I loved but which only had 8gb storage, and I just couldn't make that work.
First, to be clear, the VM version of the E4 does NOT have fingerprint sensor, despite BB's description. I recognized that before I bought, so wasn't bothered, but some might be.
The new E4 had about 10gb of available storage out of the box. I already had a VM account, and transferring service to the new phone was about as easy as it could be; basically, checking a box saying Yes, swap phones.
This phone runs smooth as silk. I've loaded and tested about 60 apps, and no issues at all (well, except the Wells Fargo mobile app, which apparently is having some issues with Android... pretty sure that's not the phone's fault though).
I was concerned that 16gb wouldn't be adequate, but I offload all pics and music to sd card (formatted as portable, not internal), and then upload them to Google Photos/Drive, so apps are the only thing taking space on my phone. I know some people are much heavier users than I am, but I've got it pretty well loaded and still 5 gb to spare.
The camera is only so-so. I can tell a difference from my old G3 which, while not top of the line, took great pics. But they're really pretty good for a phone at this price point. Certainly nothing to get upset about unless you're a professional photog (who can't afford a real camera).
Another minor disappointment: apparently you can't activate the wrist-flips to open the camera or flashlight. I liked the flashlight feature on my old phone (and never used the camera gesture).. you can open them via spoken command, though, and that's okay.
Also, be aware that the various versions of this phone (unlocked, Boost, Verizon, etc) may be slightly different in terms of size; be careful when buying cases or screen protectors online. Make sure they will fit the specific model XT1766.
I love budget phones... they make me feel so much smarter than folks who spend 8 times the money for barely better performance. The E4 runs clean Android (after removing just a little VM bloat), and it's snappy and quick. If you're on the fence about a phone this "cheap", I suggest you give it a shot.

I dropped and broke the screen of my Galaxy J3 Emerge and thought I'd see what my options were for getting something different. I liked my J3 Emerge but the camera was terrible. The Moto E4 has more megapixels than the J3, so I took a chance and got the E4 hoping to get better photos. Turns out both phones take shockingly bad photos. I had an LG Volt years ago that was much better. And the E4 call quality through the earpiece is bad too. If you're deciding between the Moto E4 and the Samsung J3 Emerge, go with the Samsung. You can feel the difference in quality when you hold the phone in your hand, and call quality (pretty important for a phone) is much better with the Samsung.
