As others have said, the Galaxy S8 is a great phone: good battery life, tons of new features like wireless charging, face recognition, etc. and one of the best phone displays out there. Happily, I was able to keep my existing prepaid plan and swap in the S8 for my old device (an iPhone 5s) -- which I was a little worried about since Virgin is now exclusively iPhone. If you are looking for a powerful new phone for Virigin Mobile, this is the one to get!

The Best, The Most Reliable, A Workhorse!

Samsung's Galaxy S8 has way too many awesome features to list in one review, so I will limit this to what I personally love and what has come in handy for me. I've owned my S8 for about a year and it is the best, most reliable phone I've ever owned. It's a beast performance wise. I do a lot of multitasking and my S8 keeps up without any glitches, lagging, or freezing. It pairs with Bluetooth devices quickly and seamlessly. Call quality is excellent, even in the noisiest environments. Video quality is amazing, but I'm more of a picture taker and I am in love with the camera! I'm not a pro photographer, but with Pro Mode, my pictures actually look professional! I had not one, but TWO iPhone users comment on how my landscape pictures looked like they were from a magazine. Speaking of landscape, the landscape tool works wonderfully. I previously had a S3 and the landscape tool resulted in pictures looking like they were stitched together. But on the S8, the blending is so seamless. I've gotten beautiful results with it. The front facing camera produces awesome photos as well! I know a lot of reviewers complained about the placement of the fingerprint sensor, but it takes no time to get used to it and you'll be able to hit the target with no issue. As someone who likes taking pictures, I've never encountered the "smudgy lens" problem just because the fingerprint sensor is next to the camera lens. I personally don't think it's worth it to spend $100 more to get the S9 just because the fingerprint sensor is placed below the camera. The S8 and S9 are virtually the same. Both excellent phones, but why pay more for the S9? Just my opinion. But back to the S8, there are two features that saved me: 1) The Power Saving feature. There was a power outage in my neighborhood and I wasn't able to charge my phone for 24 hrs, but switching the Power Saving feature on helped extend the life of my battery for almost the entire time. I was so grateful. 2) The Blue light filter. For a majority of the time that I've owned my phone I marveled at the vibrancy of the screen, but I also noticed my eyes getting strained more than usual. I look at screens all day, I can't really help that, but when I turned on the blue light filter, I immediately felt relief. It took some getting used to because everything seemed more red hued, but after a few weeks I stopped noticing. As far as the design of the phone goes, it is slick- literally! The all glass encasement looks elegant and feels premium, but it isn't practical. It didn't feel secure in my hand and I accidentally pressed the Bixby button a lot (before you were able to fully disable it). Putting a case on resolved all of that. I recommend Unicorn Beetle cases with the clip holster. I've dropped my phone several times with the case on and it's all good. Although be aware that putting a case on somewhat diminishes the "infinity screen" illusion, but not by much. I rather be safe than sorry. All in all, this is the best phone I've ever had, and it seems like it'll be a good investment if you don't want to buy a new phone every year. The S8 will still be an adequate phone tech-wise for years to come.
