Fantastic Surround Speaker System for the price

I did a lot of research for surround sound TV bar systems. There are a lot out there and it can be confusing as to know what feature sets you are getting. For the money, this Vizio Soundbar is phenomenal. I purchased this for our family room upstairs as the basement entertainment room was taken over by teenagers. Needless to say, I wanted the same quality of surround that I had in my basement setup which was tuned after years of fiddling. I had low expectations coming from a system with wireless sub and rear speakers. How can they compete with the big boys downstairs? Well the Vizio unit not only matches the quality, it may actually surpass it. After installation to the wall with the included wall mount, I tested it using a YouTube link for Atmos testing. Then I CRANKED it. WOW! There was no clipping at all. Just pure audio and the surround with top firing speakers engaged was clean. The subwoofer tone was so loud that it knocked pictures off the wall from the vibration. It even moved 2 feet just from the demo! The remote is okay but I programmed my Apple TV remote to do all the volume work so I only use the iOS app for fine tuning. The app gives you a ton of audio tweaking features like fade, surround fade, surround volume, bass volume, sub volume, EQ settings and much more. The remote is a good backup but I never really need it for my setup. I knocked a star off because I think they could have done a better job with wire management and materials. It’s a bit Too much plastic and the element for filtering dust is cheap. Again, for the price; it is what it is....a fantastic deal. Best Buy made the deal easy and with Efficient curbside pickup and friendly, patient staff, it was icing on the cake. I love my speaker system and the features (it does remote audio via WiFi using google cast which means not turning on the TV!). I am missing a ton of other features but all I can say is: if you are on the fence about purchasing this, come over and try it out. It will blow you away.

I purchased this sound bar system along with my Vizio M-Series Quantum 50” 4K TV, and it’s a perfect setup for everyday use. TV shows, YouTube, movies, video games, etc., sound excellent through this. The 6 inch subwoofer provides enough bass for an apartment or small to medium sized living room space. The rear speakers have wall mounts, but can be tricky to install properly. It’s better to have speaker stands for a better sound experience. I have them set up on side tables near my couch. The sound bar itself is nice. It has front and front upward pointing speakers all built into the sound bar for an all around sound experience. Somehow, Vizio explains how the sound waves that travels from the front upward speakers to the ceiling and back down achieves an excellent surround sound feel along with the rear speakers, and it does work! You can adjust volume levels with ease with the Vizio SmartCast app. The only downside of this product is, the initial setup can be a little confusing to first time buyers of sound bar surround sound systems. There are A LOT of wires to deal with (typical with surround systems), and sometimes the sound can be a bit laggy. This is a Bluetooth system, so it may lag with sound and lip sync at times. It can be easily fixed by turning off your TV and sound system and then turning them back on again. Overall, great quality sound. Confusing set up to first time buyers. But once initial setup is done and going, you do not have to pair the system again. Only if you experience no sound coming from the rear speakers or bass from the subwoofer.

I was incredibly sceptical about doing a soundbar. I have always done Onkyo receivers and I have Klipsch Quintet III with twelve inch sub, so I came in with major doubts. To say that I was blown away is an understatement. This was meant for my office and I was amazed by how great the sound quality was, the separation was, and I can't believe a 6" sub could do such an admirable job. You can definitely tell the difference with the sense of immersion if you're running Atmos or not. If you're thinking about a soundbar, unless you want to drop $1500 this is the unit for you, especially at a $299 sale price point. Protip - most likely you'll need to couple this with Apple TV as it's one of 2 Netflix Atmos providers. When using this, you're source must go into the soundbar. Most TVs will not outboard Atmos. The second tip is to set your AppleTV to SDTV and 60hz BUT... set it to match content and frame rate. What this does is send an unprocessed signal and your soundbar and TV will communicate with the AppleTV what requirements it needs and pull Dolby Vision/HD10 and Atmos. If you do not see Dolby Vision or Atmos in the description of the program then you're not getting that data and you're missing out!

Was an easy setup and the rears work well. Overall the sound is pretty good, especially for the price of this unit. I have two small complaints. First, the remote control should have a backlit to it so when you are watching TV in the dark and go to press the remote to see the tiny screen it has for a display it would light up while in use. As it stands now the screen is dark and hard to read even in a lower light setting. Secondly, I have the soundbar connected through the HDMI, and seems to work fine but when I adjust the volume on the remote up or down it doesn't affect the sound until you hit the MUTE button on and off. Only then does the volume change to what you've selected. No idea why this does this... Maybe VIZIO can respond to this with an answer.

I'm fairly tech-savvy, so I figured this would be a breeze, but the wireless pairing was painful. I downloaded the Android phone app, but it gave me false info, saying setup was complete when in fact it was not. Additionally, I could find nothing in the instructions about searching for the input once physically connected - when connected to the HDMI ARC and telling it to look for that, it has to "search" and find it before it will produce sound. Not sure why that is? Finally, the remote is almost impossible to see unless you shine a light on it, and not intuitive. (Is it supposed to be lighted?). Night mode is off, but it still looks dark. Oncesetup was complete, the sound is fantastic - very immersive! Made my 70" 4K TV viewing a whole new experience. The 6" sub is extremely powerful with minimal distortion and the surround speakers sound great (as does the top firing soundbar). So, if the setup and phone app worked better, I'd easily give 5 stars, especially for the price.

Great sound and bass. The surround speakers keep cutting in and out. Which is a disappointment that I have to keep resetting the system. The surround speakers aren't that good either. But center and sub are great.

I didn’t install the rear speakers on the right place yet cause I’m waiting for the speaker stands I’d order... sounds great anyway, the subwoofer is another level, you’ll see...

I was doing some research before buying soundbar. I was considering Samsung or JBL. At first I was hesitating to buy Visio brand soundbar. However, I decided to try it. Connecting was easy. Sound is excellent. Loudness is adequate enough. Surround effect is nice. Did not feel Atmos effect yet, but that's OK for now. Bluetooth connection is good. I am totally satisfied with this product. One star down is only for soundbar material. Based on pictures of soundbar, where buttons are showed, I thought if it is not fabric, it would be easy to wipe it. However, it is fully fabric material. Overall good soundbar. I like it.

I have been looking for a quality soundbar with 5.1 sound for a while now. I have been using a standard small soundbar. I came across this Vizio as it was $150 off and I am extremely happy with the output. I am using the HDMI ARC on my LG tv and with the Xbox One X, that supports Dolby Atmos, the sounds are amazing. This is definitely a good purchase. It is also easy to set up and the length of the rear speaker cables are long enough for my 10x20 room

I have had other vizio sound bars and this by far is the best for the price. I have a Nakamichi 7.2 for the main living room doesn't really come close to that but for a small 12x10 room it's perfect.

Had a great time setting up my new sound system! Bought some raceways to run wires from the surround sound speakers to the sub woofer and the HDMI from the tv to the soundbar. Also got some Echogear mounts to angle the speakers towards the center of the room. Fun for listening to music using Bluetooth on my phone, watching movies or playing video games.

This 36” sound bar from Vizio is one of the best values, if not the best, on the market currently. To find a sound bar with similar specs from another brand, you’re going to spending significantly more money at best and probably more than even some high end TVs at worst. You’ll certainly get more refined and better sound from other options but at the cost that this sound bar comes in at, in my opinion, it’s pretty hard to justify the premium you’ll be paying. First, let’s talk about how it sounds since that’s what everyone wants to know right off the bat. In short, it’s very good. It gives the impression of a larger setup, even more so than I was hoping for. Vizio very smartly went with a dedicated rear surround speaker setup rather than resorting to trickery for rear sounds. I’ve seen this done, and quite well in fact, in sound bars before but not anywhere even remotely close to this price point. It delivers full, clear sound even when you start to push the envelope on volume. Unsurprisingly, the subwoofer begins to give out before the rest of the system with some distortion with loud thunderous sounds such as thunder, rumbling, explosions, etc. BUT (and this is important) because the subwoofer can be placed in several different locations, you can mitigate a lot of this by finding the place in your area that most easily communicates bass sounds and then reduce the intensity of the bass response to help clean this up. If you’re not sure what I mean, search “basic subwoofer placement” on YouTube and you’ll be able to gain some insight into how moving your subwoofer even just a few feet can drastically improve the sound experience. The upward firing speakers do give you an impression of an elevated sound field but, to be quite honest, it’s not as effective as I’d hoped. That said, I’m sure a “lay” person could tell the difference between this and a non-Atmos capable system. If I had to rate the effectiveness I’d say it’s a 7/10. Of course, A LOT of that comes down to how well the sound for your content was mastered. Using a Dolby Atmos demo blu-ray helps showcase how the upward firing speakers improve the sound experience but when it comes down to it, if the sound for your movie, game, etc. isn’t mastered to take advantage of it, it’s not going to really shine. The 36” sound bar isn’t the longest on the market but it does a good job of expanding the sound field out to each side, enough that you can clearly tell the difference between sound delivered through the center channel and the side channels for a nice “sweeping” effect. In summary, Is it going to compete with a dedicated home theater system? For most people, probably more than enough. I set this up in the same room as my dedicated system and I can say that for me, there’s a clear difference. HOWEVER, my dedicated system costs, well... let’s just say more than this sound bar. So, pound for pound, it’s got the chops. On to the details: Vizio seems to have carefully crafted this setup and paid attention to the details. Because of that, what you get is a sound bar that handles a lot of the legwork that you get with other setups, especially dedicated theater systems. The wireless subwoofer allows for easy placement and brilliantly serves as the hub for the rear surround speakers as well further tidying up wires and setup. It also automatically detects and connects to the sound bar so it’s quite literally plug and play. Setup is so easy in fact, that I’m fairly certain that even those who aren’t familiar or comfortable with setting up a home theater system would have almost no issues. Wires for the rear speakers are color coded and are simple plug in connections so no wire stripping and prepping. For me, it took probably 15 minutes total to set up. Aesthetically, it’s quite handsome with a full fabric surround that gives it a very sophisticated look. Manual controls are located at the top of the bar and keep the look uncluttered and LED lights are hidden behind the fabric for an attractive look. Logos are kept to a minimum and are subtly placed at both ends of the sound bar. The subwoofer and rear surround speakers all have the same appearance for a tidy look. The included remote has a built in screen to indicate source selection, volume, speaker setup and EQ, etc. It works quite well though not having an on-screen menu might be problematic for some and it has no backlight. At the extreme, it might actually require you to pause your content and turn on a light or face it towards the TV in order to read it. Not ideal, but, again, at this price, it’s hard to feel like you’re not getting a fantastic value. Thankfully, even at this very reasonable price, Vizio has included everything you’ll need to connect not only a TV to your sound bar, but potentially several other AV sources such as a game console, computer, blu-ray player, etc. so you’re not stuck shelling out more money for cables and connectors. HDMI, optical, and analog cables are all included. If you’re wanting to take full advantage of 4K and HDR you’re good to go with HDCP 2.2 compatibility and with Chromecast built in, your options for content expand greatly. In short, it’s an incredible value for the price. If you are shopping the sound bar market and want everything that this sound bar has to offer, it’s going to be very difficult, if not impossible to find anything at this price point that won’t require a pretty significant sacrifice in some area.
