Great for the price but needs firmware updates!

Great picture on this tv. Easily one of the best budget tvs out there. However, it definitely needs some firmware updates. There are a number of typos in the tv menus. The volume adjustment bar is positioned just one pixel too high on the screen leaving a thin sliver of the picture under it which is sort of distracting; it is also massive and takes up way too much of the screen. Unlike previous models, it doesn't let you close the volume window as soon as you're done adjusting so it just lingers there for awhile.
It also has a bug where if you don't have game low latency set to on, you get a weird bar on the bottom of the tv.
Thanks to reddit for helping me figure out these problems. I thought I had a defective model until others chimed in with their issues and solutions.
Since these issues can be resolved with firmware updates, I still recommend it. I've been getting vizio exclusively these past 10 years due to their awesome performance/price ratio. No one comes close. This is better enough than last year's M series quantum to justify an upgrade.

Bought this TV replacing an old 8 year old Dynex and anything I'm sure would of been an upgrade, but I did some research and had good experience with my other 8 year old Vizio and decided on this tv for the bedroom. 50 inch is perfect for viewing. I'm very happy with the smartcast OS and glad I can turn the TV on and off with Google Assistant. The TV only having 16 dimming zones still offers surprising black levels and gets very bright! I recommend this for the value and quality. Crossing my fingers it will last about 8 years lol

California is still the US, right? I jest. I have a strong “Buy American” ideal.l and I have been buying Vizio for the last couple of decades.
The Panel is the seller here. Under 500 for a 50” 4K, bright enough for the living room but ended up in my bedroom. (The living room has a P-Series, if money isn’t a worry get that instead). This TV is fast and the colors look amazing. Variable Refresh rate and AMD FreeSync support, Dolby Vision and HDR10 as well. What an AMERICAN bargain.
10/10 FOR THE PRICE POINT.
Save up for a P-Series, though.

For $400 for a 50 inch tv with one of the best HDR on a tv and dimming zones is unheard of...until now. I’d recommend this TV if you’re on a budget. The HDR on my old Samsung was not even HDR it looked worse with HDR on then having it off especially playing video games, but on this I can actually experience more color and more blacks than on my Samsung that I replaced with this. My personal favorite feature is Airplay 2 because I am able to stream from my iPhone onto my TV.

My son has a 65" VIZIO M series and I had purchased an LG 65" for the living room, but that remote control (classified as the top of the line) is the most complicated and hardest to understand that I have ever received with a TV. It's true this M series is totally worth it, totally. It has enough HDMI, USB, loads of color AND I like that it has better free channels than LG, even includes FOX news and Bill O'Reilly on OTT's The First. The VIZIO app screen is direct no having to look for it.

This TV has everything I needed for a much better price than any other TV's out on the market today. This is my second Vizio TV in 6 months and I cannot be happier. The picture is crisp and clear. The functions are easy to operate. I have found many of my classic TV shows that I love to watch on the "Watch Free" section that Vizio offers with their partnership with Pluto TV. A first rate TV with all the features I need for a much lower price than is out there for other models.

We had purchased an LG at Sam's but we did not like it. It was very complicated and the picture did not have good color. We took it back and went to Best Buy and Zach very patiently showed us several models including the Vizio, which we purchased. We are very pleased. It has a simple menu, it is easy to operate, and has great color. We are very pleased and we want to thanks Zach for his expertise and for guiding us to make a wise choice.

The picture quality and capabilities are impressive for a TV of this size for this price.
It replaced a 47" Vizio HD that finally failed after 9 years. A 55" would have been too large in the allotted space and this TV was a perfect choice.
I initially bought a Samsung 50" UHD but it would not connect with Peacock TV. The Vizio allows that connection and the Quantum Series picture is actually better than the basic Samsung UHD.
I learned NOT to have a TV of 50" or larger shipped. This one came via UPS and the box was heavily damaged and that lead to a frustrating replacement process.

I originally bought two brand new Samsung TVs but within a week, had to return both as it had a manufacturer defect. Vizio was just about to come out with their 2021 model and was happy I waited. I enjoy the features and the tv itself. Picture is great and so is the sound. Easy setup and I’m enjoying it now for over a month.

As I upgrade my TVs I've been choosing Vizio 4K TVs and sound bars, gone are the days of spending top dollar for TVs. Vizio definitely provides a good balance between value and price for the model.
Here my observations from my new M50Q7-H1
Pros:
- Substantial SmartCast interface speed improvement and response.
- I like the new remote layout, remote could have been designed with more solid feel.
Cons:
- Noticed immediately on my unit an intermittent thin line a the bottom of the screen. Not a refection as its typical a constant color close to the color of the picture. Hopefully this can be solved through firmware update as there is not an option to shift the screen. This happens with my Roku or SmartCast content.
Kudos to Vizio on the packaging, the plastic wrap with handles made for an easy setup.

Out of the box set up was excellent. Auto download of 2 program updates since it was built. Everything was connected relatively easily. Casting was ok - several times it stopped. BUT I have had repeated problems with the set shutting down and no picture. Has to be rebooted from the switches behind set - very inconvenient since it is up on the wall. Have spoken with VIZIO techs - am now on reboot number 4 and not happy. The tech reps are following and if not fixed, they say their warranty will replace at no charge. Waiting to see.

Personally my fiancé and I went back and forth about this TV we looked at it and tested it out. I love the quality it has and the 4K it goes well with my PS4 Pro. On a personal note I like that I can hook up 4 HDMI’s cables and the AirPlay is awesome it was easy to install on my HomePod and home app. If I had to fix something is being able to customize settings to make it stand out more. I will keep and update on its features but so far I’m glad we chose this TV over others as i have been wanting it for some time now
