    Great, Simple TV

I was looking for a simple TV. I wasn't interested in 4K. The current price of a 4K TV isn't worth it in my opinion, especially considering there is hardly any 4K content out there at the moment. I also wasn't interested in a curved TV, I find it offers no benefits. Lastly, I wan't minimal smart functions. I have streaming devices, so I didn't want to pay for smart functions I wasn't even going to use. This TV offers great picture and perfectly adequate sound for a great price. You are not going to find a better picture quality in this price range. I have no issues with this TV. The only area it is lacking in is its smart function capabilities. The number of apps available is limited and the apps menu is very minimalistic. If you are looking for a smart TV specifically for its smart function capabilities, this TV is not for you. But even though it's smart functions are minimal, I will say that the apps are very fast and I have thus far expericenced zero lag and zero glitches or hangups in any app.

I love the Vizio Smart TV. This is my 3rd Vizio tv. Great picture quality, I love the HD and the Smart tv apps. It's easy to connect and setup. You can't beat it for the price.

Recently bought this t.v. as an upgrade from a tiny 19" tv so it was a pretty big jump in size. So far I love it, the picture is crisp and the sound performs well. I know I always read reviews before purchasing tv's so I'll try to be as helpful as possible. The smart features were great, very easy to use. The only negative I can say is that the bass isn't spectacular. For the average consumer it will be fine but I use my Xbox One with the tv and want an extremely deep bass and depth of sound so I'll be purchasing a sound bar.

We originally bought a Toshiba 55 inch LED TV that was not a "smart" TV. The sound quality for the Toshiba was poor and we had to purchase a sound bar and subwoofer. We had color issues with the Toshiba also and since the return period had not expired, we returned it and paid a little extra for this Vizio. We have NO regrets. The Vizio's sound is better than the Toshiba (we kept the sound bar anyway as the family likes the subwoofer). The resolution and the images are sharper than the Toshiba TV and I LOVE the smart tv aspects. We frequently stream shows and it's perfect for our family's needs.

A few weeks ago my Sony 42" CRT 480 TV died. I had been holding off from switching over both due to a lack of funds, & because many consider that Sony (which sold for $1200 in the day) the best 480i CRT ever made. It did have a better picture then either of the LED's I've tried, though it's too small for the 2:35-1 wide screen films. The reason I felt i needed a 55" is because I watch alot of old full screen films, & I don't have the best eyesight. Trying to save money, I first purchased an RCA LED55C55R120Q for $420. It was horrible, you can see my review here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/rca-55-class-54-5-8-diag--led-1080p-hdtv-black/1799212.p?id=1219065629534&skuId=1799212 (go through the 2 star reviews) Now onto the Vizio. I really didn't want to spend this much (They did a price match at $580, which is the best price I've seen anywhere, including Black Friday), but the sales rep told me this was likely the cheapest set that I'd be happy with. The rep who convinced me that the Vizio was the best choice for my situation was very helpful, & returning the RCA was largely problem free. And while it isn't perfect, I am relatively happy. The main issue will be longevity. The old CRT's were expected to last 15-30 years; the flat panels are expected to last 2-5 years. Good: Decent picture with a couple caveats (see below) Reasonably sensitive tuner Good input placement Easy screen resize Seems to have full color calibration ability. So far 100% reliable with caveats below. The few mkv's/avi's, etc I've played so far look tolerable with little blocking. Speakers are ok for a thin screen, though I am using a sound bar for tv & my stereo for film. Shows the true output resolution of the incoming device on screen. Regular 16:9 widescreen looks awesome filling up a 55" screen! I sit about 9 feet away; on screen distortion is minimal at that distance. Not as good: "Warm or "calibrated" color modes have a yellowish tint, that so far i haven't figured out how to get rid of. It's more apparent on b&w films, but is visible on yellow. The "standard" color temperature doesn't have this issue, but is supposed to really just be for in store display to look more impressive. The legs are on the far sides of the TV; which required purchase of a much larger new TV table. Grays could be better. The "Picture presets" menu only stays on the screen for a few seconds; I'm usually not fast enough to use it. When switching to TV tuner (or external Tuner box) & then back to my blu-ray player I usually have to power cycle either the TV or the player to get the TV to detect the player with an HDMI connection. No spdif digital audio out Very mediocre owner's manual No calibration instructions Audio briefly cuts out on my blu-ray player whenever the TV locks to the HDMI input even with HDMI audio turned off on the player. I am hopping that when I find the time to figure out this calibration thing, I'll be able to clear up the yellow hue on "warm"; & there is also supposed to be a way to separately control the various LED panels that I haven't found yet. I don't use it for gaming or streaming, so can't comment there. To sum up, this is far from the best TV in the world, but seems to be a step above the competition at the price. If I could, I'd give it 3 1/2 stars: 3 stars based strictly on performance, 4 with price taken into consideration.

Overall this is a great tv for the price. No complaints on the picture or sound. Love the sleek look of the tv. Only complaint is the smart tv capabilities. I really only wanted a smart tv to stream Netflix, which works great. And I love that there is a Netflix shortcut button on the remote. I do use the Pandora radio app as well which works good. Other than that I do not see myself using any of the other apps available. And you cannot stream the internet with this tv like you can with others. It would also be nice to have a full keyboard on the back of the remote like my other vizio tv has. Overall it is a great tv for my needs. Clear picture and sound. Easy to use.

I am a fan of Samsung's screens and I have never considered a Vizio TV. I own a Samsung 60" smart TV and it's a good TV for regular viewing. After my 9 year old rear projection LCD in the bedroom died, i figured it was time to upgrade. I found this TV mounted in a corner of my local best buy after looking at televisions for an hour. After watching the Star Wars promo on this TV and finding out what the price was, I didn't hesitate. The setup was easy and it was great that my 10 year old Sony surround sound was able to be hooked up with the RCA cables. The picture, when set to vivid, is nice and bright. It also helps that my X1 DVR can be setup to use 1080P and the TV handles it nicely. The only downfall comes with some of the smart apps. They're a bit slow. One feature I was looking forward to using doesn't work. That is streaming videos from my cell phone through the TV. I can stream movies from my NAS device and there are no glitches. After several weeks with this TV, I think I am sticking with Vizio moving forward for a major reason. Sports viewing. On my Samsung TV which cost 3 times as much, there is blur when watching sports. It sucks. There is no such blur with the Vizio. They are both 120mhz but the Vizio seems to refresh a lot better. I called Samsung and they said to call my Cable company. They lost a once faithful customer.

I've had this TV for about a month and I have nothing but good things to say. The picture is great, and the apps are easy to use. We bought this to replace a two year old Samsung that went out. Everything functions a million times better than the Samsung. Hopefully Vizio will come through with better quality and a longer-lasting product than Samsung did. Highly recommended!

My wife and I purchased this TV as a gift for our daughter. I was skeptical since we have purchased mostly LG and Sony after extensive research but after starting it up we, our daughter, wife and I were very happy with picture and sound coming from TV, (Cable and Blu Ray). There is light bleed in. More than I am used to however the picture is amazing and you can really only notice it when the screen goes completely black/grey. Would highly recommend. Great product with a great price. All the smart features!!!

After purchasing close to a thousand dollars of products (the major purchase was a tv), including a long term service support contract, a key component (the programmable remote for the tv of which I was provided), became non functional within a few weeks. I returned to the store and spoke with several sales people who referred me to their instore Geek Squad who referred me to the national Geek Squad telephone number, who referred me to the manufacturer, who referred me back to the store. The manufacturer did provide me with a standard remote that comes with the tv and stated the remote I did receive was an upgrade provided by the store. Upon discussing the problem with the Assistant Store Manager, he informed me, the store would replace the remote; however, I would have to pay for the replacement of the remote. I paid for a product and am provided with something that does not work and upon requesting an exchange for something that does work, I am told that I need to pay for it again. ??? Best Buy just lost a customer. I will be purchasing my electronics from another supplier. The product is good, the Best Buy support is questionable at best.

We researched a lot of Smart TV's before purchasing this one - we were actually blown away with the picture quality - WOW! Clear, crisp picture. Easy to use "smart features". However, it took us about an hour to figure out how to connect with our existing cable service. Vizio has a customer service number and we called and they were extremely helpful! We love our new television!

Picked this up at the store, it was on sale for a really good price and we needed a new TV for our living room....this is our smart TV and it wasn't bad, though I haven't figured out how to download new apps or even if it is possible to do that because the apps already on the TV are kind of limited to a select few. Picture quality is really great for the price and the clarity when playing video games on my Xbox one is spectacular. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a large smart TV at an affordable price.

I have two Samsung HDTVs and went in a different direction here with a Vizio. So far I've been impressed with the picture quality. The price was right too for an upgrade to a larger TV. I like the brightness, the way it handles sports in HD, and the Smart TV features. Overall, I've been impressed with this TV's performance so far.

I went to Best Buy without knowing for sure which brand, or even what size TV I was going to buy. Their knowledgeable staff helped me settle on this amazing 55" Vizio Smart TV. It is now mounted in my apartment and has been working fantastically ever since! Picture quality is great and it has all kinds of features and apps.

I purchased my Visio 55' SmartTV a little over a month ago. The set up was easy and the quality is great, especially for the price. I initially went into Best Buy with the intention of purchasing a Samsung. I ended up getting much more TV for a lower price. Great buy.

Set up was a breeze and the TV looks great in our new space! You will not find a better TV in this price range. Only downside is the E series TV's don't come with with the upgraded backlit doubleside QWERTY remote that the M series does but one can easily purchase one online. Considering all the money we saved on this TV I can surely avoid the extra $20 for the remote upgrade!

This TV has been great for use in our office about 8 hours a day. Easy install straight out of the box and has all the new toys one would want from a smart TV. In fact had a staff member purchase the same one after a few weeks of seeing ours in the office each day. So far very happy with the purchase and quality!!!

This television was intended to replace a projection TV of a slightly smaller size. No one should buy the kind of projection TV we had; the bulb alone cost about $400 and needed replacing about every 18 mo. The replacement was not for an amateur although the company intended it so, since a small switch is easily broken during replacement and fixing that would cost an additional $450. This TV is thinner, better picture, easier to use. I'm very pleased.
