The tv has blacklight issues after only 5 months. There is a large black spot that shows up on light backgrounds. And Vizio customer service is terrible. After 90 days they only replace them with refurbished TVs even though under the year warranty. Already contacted them three times and to get the replacement you have to agree to a refurbished one, it is the only way they will service it. Never buying Vizio again.

This is a Great TV for the price which was on sale. I am moving from a recent mid-range Vizio. I think this outshines it in nearly every way. From looks, to performance, features and finally value, For starters, I like the look and design. It is a fresh, sleek, and metallic bezel-less appearance on three sides. It is a very modern edge-to-edge, yet not over-the-top look. Beyond the looks, it comes with quite a few connection options. Further, all 5 HDMI ports support 2.0a which help with 4K HDR connectivity. Another nice feature is built-in ATSC tuners. Once you are up and running (set-up is an easy process), you get a look at that picture. The picture is clear, crisp, bright, and detailed while the colors are brilliant, pop and are both rich and alive. It is a VA panel, so there is a little distortion when at extreme viewing angles. The TV also has full array local dimming. It is not perfect, but it is much better than edge and nice to have at this price point. Beyond that, they offer something they call Ultra Color Spectrum which brings more accurate color detail and a wider range of the color spectrum. The picture. 4K content is out of this world. Details, colors, blacks all look outstanding. There are countless options and calibration settings to fine tune everything. I spent a great deal time of time here, but I think it is time well spent. You can absolutely get the most out of your purchase/experience. The speakers are acceptable. I connected a sound bar to TV excellent sound. Ultimately, I really like this TV. Most importantly, it has a great picture, I would recommend this to a friend

    Superb Picture

First off, this TV looks fantastic right out of the box with little adjustment needed. For me this was an exchange from a TCL 6 series, which I was not satisfied with. Dolby Vision and HDR Content looks impeccable, motion handling was very good for sports, and I actually was quite pleased with the aesthetics of this TV. For the first couple of weeks I could not be happier with my purchase, but I did end up returning this set after I began having an issue with horizontal white lines flashing across the screen, more on that below. Despite having a fantastic picture, I was less than thrilled with the Vizio Smartcast experience. It was not fluid by any means, and I was a bit disappointed that the app selection is limited to only what is installed on the tv. Granted all of this can be remedied with a streaming media player, but at the expense of the user. As a side note most of the media platers are not capable of streaming Dolby Vision as of now (except for fires stick 4k and Apple Tv 4k). Until I began experiencing an issue, I was overall extremely pleased with my purchase. 4K and HDR content looks great, and the Smartcast system was bearable, but it did have it's limitations. About 3 weeks after the purchase, I began noticing flashing horizontal lines that would appear, but only for an instant. They were at random times and I was unable to recreate them intentionally. It might do it 10 times in 2 minutes, or it might not do it for 4 hours. After noticing these it was impossible not to look for them, and eventually I was looking for flashing white lines more than enjoying the picture on the TV. After doing some reading, apparently this has been an issue with Vizio P series TV's for some time now, and although I have seen Vizio Support techs on the forums claiming the issue was fixed through a firmware update, I had it on a 2018 model with the latest firmware installed. After phoning Vizio Customer service, they acknowledged that it occasionally happens, but not that it was common. At this point the rep requested that I take a photo of the issue that was occuring. I explained that this occurred as quickly as a flash of lightning, and that it was erratic in it's timing. If I could have reproduced the issue and been waiting with a recording device I would have attempted this, but working all day then coming home to video the tv acting up did not jive well with me. Being an elite member, I still had time to return the TV before the deadline, so I did so and purchased a Sony X900F and I am pleased with it. I will admit that while I do enjoy the picture of my new set, I do not see a tremendous increase in picture quality from the Vizio. Personally for me, it was not worth taking the chance on getting another set, only to have issues occur after the return deadline. If my only chance at receiving support from Vizio was going to be trying to capture the issue on camera, then sending it to them to analyze, I preferred to try another manufacturer. Unfortunately that meant another bump up in price range as well... Overall I would still recommend this set based on the brilliant picture quality alone. As long as the set is working correctly and without any glitches I believe it would be quite difficult to find a better set for the money.

Hello Ryan, thank you for your feedback it is appreciated. The SmartCast input does have limited applications installed and you cannot add extra apps to the input. We are continuously evaluating new applications for possible addition to this screen. In the meantime you can cast any of the thousands of Chromecast enabled applications to the TV from any mobile device on your network. VIZIO

This TV is everything that TV viewing should have been from the start. I am a videographer and a total snob when it comes to images and picture quality. I honestly have not been so impressed with a display. When you get the picture settings just right, it is perfect. The dimming zones are incredible. If I didn't know any better I would think this was an OLED TV with how black the screen can get. HDR and 4K is stunning as well. If I could take half a star away, I would for two main reasons. The speakers are not great (expected with modern TV's the thinner they are) and the viewing angle is not great on it. Just being a few feet over from center, I begin to notice colors washed out and less contrast on the side of the screen farthest away from me. For the sound problem, Vizio makes decent, affordable sound bars that can replace the TV's speakers. Additionally, I would recommend getting a Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV (any sort of streamer) as the smart interface can get slow just like all other smart TV's. Aside from those relatively small cons, this TV is incredible--especially for the price.

What can I say, it's a great tv! Coming from a 32 inch Dynex TV I am blown away by the clarity and response of this Television. I was originally going to purchase the popular TCL 55 inch, but after reading multiple reviews on panel banding (which is inherent with VA Panels) I decided to go with the Vizio. I am happy to report that even though the Vizio is uses a VA panel, I have no banding issues. Good! 4k HDR content looks extraordinary, I recent watched Dr. Strange & Le Mans, both were spectacular on this set! I have no reason to go to a theater :) that being said, standard broadcast 1080i even looks good too. Short list of what to expect - Color / brightness : Very bright, rich colors, vivid blacks (temperature and brightness control's for different room lighting) Range of Motion: Very good, no judder or motion blur, due to the fast response time of the VA panel. 5, that's right 5 HDMI ports! Intuitive controls, minimalistic menu screen, easy to navigate. Contoller, supports both TV functions and Vizio Sound Bar. A Vizio sound bar will par beautifully with tv also, very easy to install. Lastly, Best Buys customer service at the Hurst Tx, location was top notch. The associate was very helpful and didn't push me into buying something I didn't want. Furthermore I purchased the TV when it wasn't on sale at $800, a week later it went on sale and Best Buy and they gladly credited me the difference! Awesome! If you're looking for a mid range HDR 4k TV that will offer most of the functions of a top tier unit, you should definitely look into this one.

Its a well made TV thats just as good as any other mid range name brand TVs. I mainly use this for gaming on a PS4 and netflix and its been awesome. It does 120hz, Dolby, HDR, 4K and has great picture quality plus is reasonably priced. The downside is that it has a slow Smartcast. But if you’re just going to use another media player to stream stuff it isn’t a prolem.

Before I got the 55” Vizio P-series 4K HDR I had the Fire TV Insignia 4k. I got that tv thinking that even it was on sale it will be a good tv since I own an Insignia TV. When i compared both tvs my old version had a better color, image quality than the Insignia 4k. I didn’t like the Insignia 4k because it was too dark on image, I tried to calibrate the colors on the Insignia it was still too dark. I should of had gone with my gut and buy the Vizio in the first place. I decided to exchange the Insignia for this Vizio 55” 4K P series. At first I wanted the M series but sincr Best buy didn’t have it I was like what a heck lets get the P series. Best decision ever!!! The sound on the TV it’s amazing. The image quality, the colors, the brightness for what I wanted is great. It seems like the actors are physically there. I owned thr Xbox One S and watching the movies on 4K is amazing. I’m in love with this tv. I am no high tec or high spec genious, but what I can tell you for the prize of the tv and the quality of image I was looking for it is amazing. To set up the tv yes it did took a couple more minutes than the Insignia, it takes a few seconds more to turn on th tv. But so far so good. For my taste the sound is perfect loud as heck, for those who complaint about the speakers not being loud enough is because you have a big living room where the tv is either high above or far from your couch and you need to use a sound bar. For my living room is perfectly loud, I own a Vizio sound bar and sometimes I have to turn that off because it is too loud.... anyway. If you are looking for that brighness, where you want the colors to pop out, where actors look in real life, where you can see their freckless or their pimples this is the right tv for you. You won’t regret it.

I went through countless reviews before buying this TV. I owned a 2015 55" 4K M series that had a plastic body before this. It recently started having issues with back lighting. I realized that was my fault because I maxed out the backlight to 100 causing premature failure. Make sure it's no higher then 50% it will last 5 to 10 years that way. Now back to review on this tv that is American made and has a nice beautiful aluminum body and legs. 1st off the picture for a non OLED tv is better then anything under $1,000. I'm not into overpriced OLED TV that will end up with burn in issues if not careful which start at 1400 and up. This TV just wows you with making you feel like your right there. It is a Massive upgrade over my 3 year old M series. The colors are very natural. When watching actual 4 k HDR content at the true 120hz abilty this P series has its amazing compared to anything else out there. Make sure to use the Dark calibrated in normal mode for picture for best ease of use results for a real natural picture for cable TV or Satellite. I find controls to be easy to use and remote to be excellent if you like it simple and less complicated. If you like more buttons then this remote will disappoint. The Smart TV function is excellent and FAST. Anyone says it slow has no idea how to use it. But considering you cant add apps that is the only downside but it makes up for it with built in 4k chrome casting which honestly is way more useful. So you can cast any app or picture straight to your TV from your smart device. 2nd the audio is pretty decent consider there only 10 watt. But I would recommend not using the surround setting and set the equalizer to Dynamic you will enjoy this TV at its finest audio this way. 3rd this TV is usually on sale for $650 the next closest tv of this picture quality is a Sony x900 series that when on sale is $900 and has no chromecast. If your reading reviews that the 55" Roku 4k TCL is excellent. It isnt anywhere near this TV in quality so ignore the hype because its Chinese junk you will be very disappointed. This TV is made here in the U.S.. If you want the roku abilty its better to buy the separate device. Also to note this TV is the only one at this price point with the abilty to plug in up to "five" 4k HDMI devices most are only 2 or 3 a real problem if you have multiple devices.

I spent a good deal of time researching new TV's before I purchased this one, and I have to say, I'm impressed with the colors and the responsiveness of this panel. I had an issue with it where random lines of color would appear and disappear in areas of the screen, and I eventually returned it for a new one within two two weeks, but now that I have a working one, everything seems to be in order. This panel does an excellent job with blacks being differentiated and does a great job of refreshing the screen, making it excellent for gaming. I did spend about an hour or two really messing with the colors and picture output to get the best picture possible, and I recommend watching video and reading reviews of how to do this, because I promise it makes a huge difference in the end between when you initially turn it on and after you've spent time optimizing it. I'm giving it 4 stars simply because of the QA/QC, but trust me its worth every penny if you invest into this piece of technology.

Excellent motion handling, very good brightness and picture (color, sharpness, blacks). Viewing angle is far less than the unlimited of my old Samsung plasma. Haven't viewed any 4K sources. Remote is a bit limited. Response to remote commands has slowed from when I purchased it; wondering if that's from system updates.

I have had this week for about a month now. I mostly use it to game on my ps4. the graphics look amazing and its also HDR ready so if you have a ps4 pro take advantage of that. I also use it to watch netflix and amazon videos. the controller provided is nice, very easy to navigate through apps. the 5 hdmi ports are placed in easy to reach locations. For the price im really happy. We got in on sale for 699.99. I also watch Redzone on it and it looks great. If your thinking about it just do yourself a favor and pull the trigger. The picture quality of this TV is better than any other I've seen in this price range. The local dimming gives you an OLED-like look for way cheaper. Plus there's an input capable of outputting 1080p/120hz which is great for PC gaming (and, if they end up taking advantage of it, next gen consoles). But just so there's so surprises if you buy this TV, here are the drawbacks: 1. The onboard speakers are terrible. I'm someone who has never been picky about onboard speaker quality in other televisions I've owned, so when reviews mentioned these ones were bad I mostly shrugged it off. Well, they're really bad. Dialogue on TV is pretty often unclear and music sounds more like your phone speakers than something that belongs in your living room. 2. Laggy menus. All the menus are slow, even the menu for switching inputs. Even though it is a smart TV I would also not recommend using included apps for this reason. From what I understand you also cannot download new apps, though I haven't tried. (I would recommend getting a Roku or hooking up a PC over HDMI and using your phone as a remote.) 3. Random HDMI and power issues, like certain inputs not displaying or the TV not turning on right. I've had this TV for a little over a month. In that time I've already had some weird issues with the HDMI ports and the power but luckily all of them so far have been solved with unplugging the relevant cord, leaving unplugged for a bit, and then powering back on. 4. Might seem like a nitpick, but the volume menu overlay is pretty obtrusive. It displays the volume number in the bottom center of the screen, with a black, barely transparent background that stretches over the entire width of the bottom fifth of the TV screen. If you watch with subtitles, this almost completely obscures them. The overlay also stays up for what feels like two beats too long. 5. Minor problems with picture quality. The four corners all have small, slight shadows to them (not as bad as some other cheap-ish 4k tvs but noticeable). Sometimes there is brief flickering in some part of the picture, I assume due to something with the local dimming, when a subsection of the screen is partially black (not sure though). Some problems with color definition, mostly noticeable in video games or animation. Near colors sometime appear as the same color. One last thing to note is that with the local dimming on, whenever white subtitles appear on screen the whole picture appears slightly brighter as a whole. 6. The remote is okay but not great. I would not recommend it to anyone with vision or dexterity issues. It's very small. Besides the volume and channel buttons, every button is the same size and very small. Things like the mute button, the power button, and the input button should ideally be easily reachable at a glance, but they aren't here. The power button is right above the Amazon Prime button and they're both the same size. Multiple time already I have hit the Prime button when I meant to turn the TV off (I have no vision or dexterity issues). This is extra annoying because the Prime app menu, like every menu, is very laggy. I will say the remote does feel pretty good and it is modeled in a way that you never point the wrong end at the TV. Overall it definitely was designed putting style over usability. 7. I have not been able to get the Vizio smart TV app to detect the TV. Both my phone and my girlfriend's phone are on the same wifi as the TV but neither can connect. Even with those issues I am still happy with the purchase, at least for now. Picture quality is pretty great, using my living room gaming PC at 120hz is real neat, motion smoothing is off by default (though actually works weirdly well if that's your thing), and the closest thing to the featureset of this TV is the Sony x900 which is several hundred dollars more. Keep in mind I've only had this TV a little over a month, but so far it's pretty great for the price.

I seriously cannot say enough about how awesome things look on this, it was replacing a (true) 120hz TV so this being one as well was a must for me (even though 4K@120 is NOT a thing and probably won't ever be). Conversely I recommend the two "calibrated" picture presets over any of the others BY FAR. I was gung-ho to tinker with all the settings and create a custom profile with the aid of some youtube vids and online recommendations, but the calibrated preset beats the pants off what I came up with for some reason I can't quite figure out. It is nice to be able to save custom profiles, though, in case I ever want to try my hand again. As not only a gamer but an avid "recent retro" (mostly PS2+3, but also Dreamcast and Gamecube) gamer the dedicated low latency HDMI port AND mode is nice, but the Component input is even better. Yeah there are component-HDMI solutions out there, and I'm sure I'll have to buy one someday, but for now still having the hardware built into the TV is so much better. BTW the star off is because not only are the "smart" features laggy garbage, it's impossible to disconnect this thing from the internet logically using just the regular TV settings once you give it your wi-fi password (obviously changing your network password and leaving this thing hanging is a solution, as is blocking the TV's MAC address, etc. but having to come to that is ridiculous). Heaven help you if you (foolishly) used an open wi-fi connection because there isn't an option to forget networks either. If at all possible I definitely recommend doing setup/firmware upgrades through an ethernet cable (nice it has one of those ports too) and then pulling the plug if you, like me, have no interest in "smart" features for whatever reason (in my case it's because I have literally 10+ devices which work better for me, but if you're just a luddite I won't hold it against you).

A month in. Let me start of by saying I own two other TVs, one is a $4300 Sony 70in and another a $2500 LG. Both TVs have very high ratings at Best Buy and RTing. Now to the Vizio. I was looking for a TV the wife and I can enjoy and wasn’t our go-to entertainment system. This TV has impressed me from the start, the blacks are comparing near OLED levels of my LG and picture detail and clairity is near perfect compared to the Sony. I was able to get it at a very good price during the Labor Day sale and it has been worth every penny. Let’s talk about the application and UI(user interface). I am amazed so many people are complaining of a slow response and application taking a long time to load. Coming from a very high end tv comparison the noticeable lag is almost not there, I am not sure what reviewing are expecting and what they are comparing this to because I would love to get a hold of that tv which they are referencing. The SmartCast application is very handy, you download the app and replaces the remote control. Power, volume, channel, setting etc. all can be controlled with the app. A note to Vizio, please add backlighting to your handheld remote. The audio on this tv isn’t so great but almost nobody now days uses the build in audio for their entertainment system. A $170 Vizio soundbar any other soundbar/surround would solve this issue. I don’t see this as reason to give this tv anything less than 5 star. Cheers!

Anything in 4K on this TV is amazing. The HDR, the refresh rate, streaming services are great, Netflix and Bluray look awesome. Xbox also looks so much better than my old Samsung UHD curve tv I had. Definitely worth the upgrade and the price is awesome for what you get. Excited to see Vizio’s upcoming P-Series Quantum display. It’s going to give LG Oleds a run for their money.

Picture is great. Vivid mode picture mode make colors for non-hdr games on xbox one x look amazing. Early on I did have an issue where the screen would go black intermittently with Full UHD Color On, while playing the NON-HDR Enabled game bioshock on XBox One X. Usually after playing for hours, so very rare. Could not tell if TV or XBox One X was at fault. I think this is most likely an issue with xboox. The problem has not happened in over a month. Been playing an HDR enabled game Dead Rising 4, no issues. While the software is a little laggy in the menu, for the most part it works fine. Works better than my 4 year old samsung, and it has all the main good ones. Really like Pluto TV. It does have PLEX, but would have preferred a plain UPNP video player. I suppose with Chromecast I can eventually get something working. I also love that it has 5 hdmi inputs. I am very happy with this tv. The picture really is awesome. The vivid picture mode brings new life to old games. It's awesome.

I'll start this by saying I believe this is the best picture you're going to get in this price range. That's the only thing that really matters to me when buying a TV: does it look better than yours? The HDR, 4k, and other picture capabilities are top notch for an LCD. I recommend checking out "Rtings" for more granular details. I recommend grabbing this tv if you're in the same mindset as me. Especially if you find it on sale. However, please note the following: 1. The UI is laggy. Unless you already have an Apple tv, Xbox, or any other of the seemingly endless number of streaming devices available for purchase, you'll probably be disappointed with the snappiness of different built-in functions. 2. Many people have reported a horizontal line flicker glitch with their units. It is a very quick, gray/white horizontal line that flickers on the screen once or twice, mostly a few minutes after being turned on. This honestly didn't bother me that much, but can be annoying of it happens during a darker movie. It does not seem to repeat at all until the power is cycled, so you're in the clear after the first two flickers! 3. My unit also had a glitch that I could not find anywhere else as a reported issue. I recommend checking out /r/Vizio_Official for a list of current, reported issues. I have been experiencing an issue with the picture while watching Netflix 4k and 4k HDR content. There is a pink/white graphical problem that does not go away (check the picture attached to this review). I should be getting the unit replaced or fixed by Vizio support next week if they can't fix it, which leads me to another point... 4. Best Buy has a return policy, which is great, but it's not THAT long. What they don't tell you is that Vizio's own warranty covers your device (for a longer period of time), and they have a great support team who will actually set up a service appointment and replace the unit if necessary. Overall, recommended buy for picture quality alone for the price, but other issues have been a slight headache.

I've been a fan of Sony TV's for quite some time now and was looking for a new "smart" TV for the loft in our home. This was the week before the Super Bowl and the TV's were on sale. I did some research and had settled on getting either an LG or Samsung around the $500 price point and went to my local Best Buy. I knew these TV's weren't what I was used to with a native 120Hz refresh rate but it was just going in the loft so a 60hz refresh rate would be fine. When I got to the store the sales person (can't say guy or girl these days) showed me this Vizio and I thought it would be just fine. I paid a bit more because it had the 120Hz native refresh rate and some other features. Out of the box the picture nearly blew me away and I don't mean that in a good way. Picture was way too bright and lit up the room like high noon. I had to look at my settings on my Sony Bravia to try and match the picture and got somewhat close. This Vizio is definitely cheaper made and the remote control is just standard and kind of cheap. I had issues with the volume as the speakers fire straight out of the back so your getting a bounce off the wall behind the TV. Many of the features didn't work real well and overall I was disappointed in myself for buying a Vizio. With that, I returned the TV and paid another $150 and bought another Sony "SO HAPPY NOW", and its only a 60Hz refresh rate and looks great! Best Buy was more than helpful with the return as I was still within the 14 day return policy. Bottom line, just buy a Sony TV! I have 4 of them now that I've bought over the last 12 years and they are all working just fine, no complaints.

I bought this tv almost 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching a lot since. The build quality is very good and the picture is fantastic. The blacks are really black and the details on 4k streamed content is first class. Where the set isn't good is chromecast and the lack of adding apps to the tv. I have to reboot my phone each time I use it to get on directv now, and have to log in on the phone not the app on the tv to access hulu. There's a long delay each time a channel is changed and basically it sux, no web browser available in 2018 on their top of the line tv is pathetic. But for the money best buy is offering it, the picture, the main reason i bought this is well worth it.
