HDR10 is broken. Avoid and get an LG or Sony OLED
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought in March, ane it always had some quirks, like sound dropping when switching inputs or randomly turning itself back on. However the most recent firmware broke HDR10 support. Skin tones now appear a sickly gray with orange splotches and no amount of adjustmemyt will fix it. Dolby Vision works fine, but not all content supports it. This firmware was supposed to fix issues with CEC and VRR that have existed for over a year. Those issues still exist as well. Many owners have reported the issues to Vizio's Head of Product Development on Reddit. Initially, despite the reports, they have been unable to reproduce it. Now a month has passed and even though they can now reproduce it, there is no timeline to fix it. With all things tech, especially displays, time matters. We can't wait a year for updates that just break more than they fix. I wanted to like this TV. I hoped it would change my mind about Vizio. Sadly, I am ditching it fir an LG C1

Not LG or Sony but Top Tier nonetheless.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this tv. Worth every single penny. The visuals are stunning. It’s stealthy looking when it comes to how thin it is. Speakers aren’t great but with a sound bar upgrade, the combo is perfect. 5 out of 5 for me.

DO NOT BUY
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy this TV. I’ve owned this TV for less than a year. Yes the picture quality is Okay but the TV has had issues with internet connection and it’s getting worse by day. I get constant errors that there is no network connection while all my other devices are connected to the internet just fine. There are other issues like pictures with no sound or sometimes the picture goes away in the middle of a movie while the sound continues. Also, many times I get the banner that says the screen saver will turn on shortly in the middle of watching a movie and the banner does not go away unless you turn the TV off. I definitely regret not buying the LG OLED instead. Don’t waste your money on the Vizio OLED TV. I’ve tried contacting the customer support but they are useless. They keep trying these useless troubleshoots like asking me to turn my TV on and off like 100 times. Their customer support is just buying time until the product is out of warranty. I’m very disappointed.

Great for TV. Next Gen Gaming? Not now.....
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to read about the next gen tests, scroll below. Packaging/Unboxing Safely shipped in an enormous generic brown box to "conceal" the contents (thank you) with corner foam protecting the inner Retail Box. Once unboxing is done (hopefully you had the help of another person), this TV looks amazing and gives off a superb premium feel. Instructions on how to lift it and where to grab properly are clearly labeled everywhere from the instruction book to the labels all over the back of the TV. I choose not to wall mount due to reasons stated later. The center support is HEAVY in a good way and looks aesthetically pleasing. Back of the center support is plastic but the main part is metal. Setup Fairly straight forward and easy steps to follow. NOTE: The power cord is comes with is a NON POLARIZED ac cord (rounded on both sides of the end that plugs into the TV) but the connecter on the TV and the picture label is clearly POLARIZED (Square on one end and round on the other). After a phone call to Vizio's CS about this, they assured me that this doesn't matter and should work no matter which way it's plugged in (I didn't trust that so I used my own proper AC cords). Turning on the TV for the 1st time greets you with the power of the OLED - White Vizio logo surrounded by perfect black background. Startup for the 1st time is simple, connect to the internet for updates and the usual Language / Location preference. 4x HDMI - HDMI 1 is E/ARC, HDMI 2 and 3 are 4k 120 (not really yet) and HDMI 4 is standard 4k @ 60. A couple of USB-A ports and Digital and Analog audio inputs as well. Performance and Next Gen Gaming My personal picture settings: HDR10 - Calibrated Dark Ambient Light Sensor - Off Tone mapping - 17 Brightness to Tint - Default Sharpness - Varies - I change from 0 to 20 depending on content. Color Temp - NORMAL Advanced Picture - Game Mode ON - VRR - On/off (doesn't matter because is doesn't work except with Xbox One X 1080/120) I have attached pics of the PS5 and Xbox Series X as proof of the tests. I streamed YouTube directly to the TVs casting feature and play tested the Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, PS5 and Xbox Series X (also the switch but that's just 1080 and worked just fine). Streaming - YouTube content streamed perfectly. 1080/60 to 4k/30 (LTT Channel) displayed correctly and looked visually great. No artifacting of any kind at all. Played some movies I purchased from the play store I had in my library and blacks were spot on and colors did not looked washed or have that Aura Glow effect. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X - Both were immediately known by the TV and labeled the HDMI inputs as such (PlayStation 4 and Xbox). This was using HDMI 4 input. 4k @ 60 are preset and HDR was automatically enabled by both consoles. Gaming looked great as one would expect from this OLED. Played HZD on PS4 and Outer Worlds and CoD on the Xbox. Also took advantage and tried the 1080 @ 120 option the One X offered on HDMI 2. Worked and was buttery smooth. But again, limited to FHD gaming instead of UHD. Now the fun (actually not so fun) part of the new consoles. Plugging in the Series X or the PS5 into HDMI 2 OR 3 (the 4k 120 ports) gives you nothing but a black screen. The TV labels them properly (Playstation 5 etc) but there is NO picture. I tried disabling VRR because there is an issue with this TV NOT doing 4k @ 120 yet, nothing. The only way to get a picture was to go into the settings and change the 2.1 to 1.4 and you're stuck with "next gen" @ FHD (1080). What a let down. So using HDMI 1 or 4 will properly show the systems working but only @ 4k / 60. At least that is something. When gaming on the PS5 the games were stunning (played Godfall, fun game). Visually popped in every which way. WOW. Blacks were great. HDR was beautiful. Colors blew my eye sockets away. This ALMOST made me forget I was gaming at 60 instead of the supposedly 120. Frames did drop below slightly at some times, but was rarely noticed. I am hoping and praying this gets updated with a firmware update ASAP because you cannot label and sell this as 4k120 when it clearly does NOT work. This is backed up by multiple sites and vids proving this point as well. Sound - Decent at best when just hearing the TV speakers, but this should already be a known fact the TV speakers are never great. I used 3 different set ups. 1st was Digital Optical out into a shelf system (Sony) and hearing it on 2.1. Definitely a step up from standard TV speakers obviously. 2nd was my Samsung 850T sound bar. Atmos worked beautifully and the surround was great. Gaming and streaming alike was good. And lastly was the Denon/Bose/Klipsch 7.2.4 set up. No brainer here. Amazing sounds using eARC feature to the receiver. Issues Everyone is different and I guess I just got a bad apple. I have an ANNOYING line of dead pixels on the right half of the TV from top to bottom. Vizio is currently looking into this, so as of this review on 11/14/2020 I will not deduct stars was this should always be covered under warranty. 4k120 - Doesn't work. Plain and simple. Hopefully a future firmware fixes it. Sometimes when I turn on the TV, I get no sound from any inputs. I have to turn off the TV, unplug for about 5 secs and plug it back in and it works again. Conclusion If you are looking into this TV for next gen, wait. If you don't care about 120 then this TV is fantastic. Colors and picture quality are all expected out of this OLED. If you don't plan on getting next gen consoles anytime soon (not because of the supply shortage at the moment) and are content with just watching TV, Streaming, or the occasional game, then you are absolutely golden. Just make sure you don't have dead pixels like I did (pic attached) dead pixels do not show up in black content as with OLED the pixels turn off for true blacks.

Wow!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW!!!! Were the first words out of my mouth when I opened the box and took my first look at this tv. This is the slimmest, aside from the bottom half of the tv, I have ever seen. So, to be honest I was never a big fan of Vizio Tv’s. I had always seen great deals on their products but nothing ever attracted to the brand, until today. Today I received my first VIZIO OLED TV and boy was I wrong. The colors, the blacks, the design, and the sound, vizio has won my heart with their OLED series TVs. So, lets go over some of the features of this tv and what it has to offer. Unboxing and Setup- ***BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU UNBOX THIS TV, IT IS SUPER THIN SO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH IT*** I would definitely two or more people to do the unboxing and setup. The top half of this tv is just glass, and the bottom half potion is the housing for the speakers, motherboard, inputs and the power. The back has two removable panels where you run all your cabling and cover them back up for a nice clean look. The tv also comes with a solid metal stand. The stand alone weighs about 10lbs. I ended up mounting my tv on the wall but all accessories are provided for mounting the tv, except for the mount, or using the stand. Once the tv was properly mounted on the wall, the setup process began for the tv. The setup is fairly simple, select your location, connect to WIFI, search for local channels, connect to either Alexa or Google home and your done. Your tv is ready to go. Colors, Blacks and Screen Resolution- The colors and blacks are really amazing on this tv. The colors are vibrant, bright and really pop out, kind of giving you that feeling of actually being there and the blacks are deep blacks, as if the pixels in the area turn off. This tv really has sensational contrast, colors and blacks and really give some well-known brand name TVs a run for their money. The TV supports 4K (2160p), HDR, HRD 10, HDR 10+, and Dolby vision. Unfortunately, I was unable to experience the full pro gaming engine of this tv due to the fact that ps4 pro does not support free sync therefore unable to use the variable refresh rate. Overall, still a solid gaming experience in 4K. Sound Quality- Vizio didn’t leave anything out when it came to this tv. This tv supports DTS Virtual: X sound technology. DTS Virtual X, for those who don’t know, is a new audio technology that provides a 3D surround sound experience without the need for surround sound speakers, moving sound around you as it would in real life giving you a more immersive experience. Smartcast and Apps- Now this part I was not very impressed with and was a lit lacking, although the tv comes preloaded with a plethora of different apps you can use for entertainment and the option of casting your iphone or android to the tv, but that is pretty much it. Unlike other manufactures that have their own app stores to allow to download and use like the internet browser or download games, this tv does not support that. Features- 4 HDMI ports 2 USB ports 1 Digital optical audio 1 Analog Audio RF antenna input Composite input WIFI / Ethernet VESA 300mm x 200mm mount Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri 30 watt speaker output 120Hz Refresh rate 71lbs with stand / 61lb without stand Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, Prime Video, Redbox, Tubi, XUMO, YouTube In conclusion, this is an awesome tv for the price, and I would highly recommend anyone looking for a tv to checkout this unit in person, because pictures don’t do this tv justice.

Do not buy this TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly do not buy this TV. I bought it on December 30th and by January 18th it’s broken. There are lines going across the entire screen and I need to have geek squad come out and try and replace the mother board. A 1400 tv shouldn’t be broken in 2 weeks when it wasn’t tipped or knocked into or anything it just slowly started getting worse. Save yourself some time and frustration and get a different tv.

Good OLED but has some issues that need corrected
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent OLED, as are all OLED TVs. The assembly process is a little cumbersome with 12 screws needed. Major cons: 1): If you watch the TV in a completely dark room, you can see that pure black content is not actually completely dark. There is still some luminance coming through those pixels. This kind of defeats the whole purpose of having an OLED. 2): VRR isn't working correctly out of the box and FreeSync isn't available. They shouldn't release things with advertised features and not deliver on them. There will be no FreeSync Premium. 3): I couldn't get 4k120 to work on a PC using a 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 cable over the HDMI 2.1 ports 3/4. 4): SmartCast 4.0 isn't available yet. This again goes back to advertising things that aren't actually ready. SmartCast occasionally won't load correctly. 5): The menu interface has blurry text and typos. The internal test patterns are all glitched. This just gives me a very unprofessional impression about how much care Vizio is actually putting into their products. Pros: 1): Competitively priced against the LG. For the value, it's a great product and should please most non-videophiles. 2): Support for HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. Black levels appear great aside from the persistent luminance at pure black. 3): Cool idea to have the accompanying Elevate soundbar attach to the TV for space saving.

Good, hopefully will be great eventually.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For context, I got the OLED65-H1 as an upgrade from my 5 year old Vizio M65-D0, which had started to fail on me. But I've always liked my Vizio products, 5 years of life is acceptable to me, and I've wanted to go OLED, so I snapped one of these up the first day they were available. Also I'm not a hyper knowledgeable image purist like some people here, more of your somewhat-more-informed-than-average movie watcher and gamer. All in all, my experience has been very good, but short of great. The picture looks stunning, that goes without saying. But I think I can attribute that more to this being my first OLED than this specific TV being amazing. Setup was very easy, and I was able to comfortably do it alone. The first thing I did was try a 4K blu ray and my jaw dropped. Huge step up from my old TV, though that's not really saying a lot. I then tried Netflix through Smartcast, and Our Planet looked incredible, but I needed to turn up the judder reduction for that. Then I just tried an episode of an older sitcom on Netflix, and the judder reduction made it look slightly weird but not full soap opera effect. So I need to work on dialing in the motion settings for different kinds of content. I have a smooth and unsmoothed picture mode right now and that's been working well for me as I go between scripted and unscripted content like docs and sports. As of now "Film Mode" doesn't seen to have any discernible difference. I've tried watching movies with it on and off and I'm not seeing anything changing. I then tried watching through my Apple TV 4K, which is my main media hub, and had very similar results. There are some weird little hiccups (the screen goes totally black for a few seconds when switching in and out of HDR mode it seems), but overall it looks great. I watched some sports and news and movies on AT&T TV's app, that's where I get my cable, and all looked substantially better than they used to. Some complaints would start with the brightness. I used a 4K version of the new Batman trailer to test darkness, and I was having trouble making out any detail in the dark scene where Batman is punching the crap out of that guy. Playing with the brightness and contrast and white point all were not able to mitigate it. I tweaked the gamma down slightly, which I think made the overall picture a little less rich, but made the brightness tolerable for now. This is an OLED problem for sure, not necessarily a Vizio problem, but it's one that I'd warn they haven't found a great solution for. The CEC has been hit or miss for me also. Works great with my Apple TV, okay with an Xbox, but trying to use Alexa to switch inputs or turn the TV off has resulted in lots of weird problems, and currently the TV just turns itself right back on anytime it gets turned off via CEC. For gaming, I know the VRR and everything is getting worked on, but like everyone else, VRR makes using my Xbox totally impossible. I have it switched off, and I've played some COD. Aside from the brightness issue (which is much easier to mitigate in a game) the game looks great, barely any noticeable tearing during normal use. Obviously VRR will help with that, so I'll reserve final judgment until then for gaming, but as of now I'm really enjoying gaming on it and am very excited to use it for single player games like Cyberpunk, where I think it will thrive. The last real gripe I have with it is the menu is missing a key setting I really miss from my M65-D0. As far as I can tell, there is no way to hide the on-screen volume level indicator currently on this model. I have a Vizio sound system as well, and they've worked very nicely together, but the fact that any time I have to lower or raise the volume this big black bar covers the bottom 15% of the screen is pretty unforgivable to me. My last Vizio definitely had an audio indicator toggle in the menu, so hopefully that comes back in a future update.

Amazing Picture, Great Next Gen picture
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned my TCL R635 for this TV as I wanted the full benefit of HDMI 2.1. Picture quality is great with some minor tweeking. Gaming you have to make sure you set the HDMI to 2.1 in the settings. My series X works great on the TV with everything working 4K/120, no VRR (but an update is coming from Vizio) or 4K/60 with VRR. Nothing does 4K/120 right now anyways, so its not a big deal. My PS5 picture looks good I know there is an issue with the 4k/120 on that as well there is a work around on that that you can find on youtube/reddit. Biggest issue Ive had on this TV so far, and I posted about it on Reddit and others have this issue too...Every morning the TV will not turn on, so I have to unplug and plug it back in. I now have a smart plug on it to just automate it at 5am so I don't have to worry about it anymore...but the fact that I have to do that is ridiculous. Thank goodness for an easy work around.

Welcome to OLED
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this TV just over a year ago. My main focus was to pair it with my Playstation 5, so that I could enjoy game at 4k, 120hz. Early on the system seemed to have a lot of bugs. I guess that's what you get for being an early adoptor. The TV wouldn't turn on probably, especially after gaming session. You would have to disconnect to set from the out to get it to turn back on. There's been issue with raised black levels, eARC, and other general frustrations with the software..... It's been a long time coming, but most of the software bugs that ive notice personally have been squashed. The panel itself is hands down the most beautiful television set ive ever owned by far. Movie watching is incredible in a dark room environment, and my gaming has been working flawlessly. Purchased this TV when it was on sale, and if you can find it at a reduced price, this TV is a no brainer. At full price, there's some competition with other brands who may have better software.

Vizio's first OLED - Good but not Great! Not Yet!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I upgraded from a 2017 model LG OLED to this Vizio because of the HDMI 2.1 features for the coming gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. The care in packaging and build quality from Vizio was impressive. Set up was a breeze. I was greeted with a firmware update and after a few minutes had the tv up and running. The picture quality is stunning with 4K HDR coming from the built in Youtube app and from my OPPO 4K UHD Blu-ray player. Even my cable(Fios) looked better than on my previous television. Currently, for gaming I own an Xbox One X and PS4(non-pro). I had a difficult time with the Xbox One X because VRR is not working yet. Once you disable it on the console and tv, games work fine. The PS4 had no issues. The picture and gaming was fantastic once the issues were sorted out. Anyone that has owned or researched purchasing an OLED knows screen uniformity can be an issue. I can happily report my panel has excellent uniformity. No banding and very minor tinting. Now, let me go over some issues. 1. When this tv receives an RGB signal it disables a lot of settings in the picture menu. Not the biggest deal but I would like the option to adjust settings. Might be done by design to cut down on game lag? 2. Glowing blacks. When the tv is sent a 0% black signal the panel should be completely black, however the screen glows. OLED is advertised as having perfect blacks. Every pixel can be turned off individually. This is not happening here. Not sure if Vizio has done this by design but it's certainly not correct. If you watch in a pitch black room like I do, you are more likely to notice it. It's not a deal breaker and most people won't care but OLED attracts a different kind of customer, videophiles! 3. Other than Youtube app, I can not get any internal apps to play videos. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Movies Anywhere, Fandango Now all get the same video playback error? My internet connection is fine. I run ethernet directly to the tv. 4. HDMI handshake issues. I've had to reboot the tv twice because of handshake issues. I run all my components through my Denon AVR4300H receiver which has 4K - 60 pass through. The only thing I changed in my set up was the TV. Everything worked flawlessly prior. It's frustrating when you have company over and your shiny new tv you've been bragging about has issues playing 4K Blu-rays. I'm waiting on new 48gbps hdmi cables from Monoprice to rule out any cable issues. With the right content this TV puts out a glorious picture but there are issues that need to be addressed. Some of these issues are nitpicking issues but all seem to be software related which can and should be fixed by Vizio with firmware updates, Despite some of the issues I'm happy with my purchase and recommend this tv. Now Vizio needs to get to work. lol

Posted .Hello Petro,
Thanks for your great and detailed review! I’m glad to hear you are loving the TV. We wanted to provide some updates on the items you described in your review.
Regarding the inaccessibility of some of the settings you experienced when receiving an RGB signal, this will be addressed in the next update releasing by the end of September.
Regarding the glowing blacks you described, we have done extensive testing and have been able to reproduce what you described and are working to address this to achieve 0% luminance in an upcoming update.
We have not been able to reproduce the issues you described with Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc and we are not seeing other reports of this issue, would it be possible for us to get some more detail on the exact playback error you are experiencing? You can reach out to VIZIO Support at 844-254-8087 and we can try to diagnose the issue and get it resolved.
We have tried to reproduce the handshake issues you described with the Denon AVR4300H. We would suggest trying HDMI 2.1 48GBS cables, this should resolve the issue.

really solid tv

HDR/uhd movies look great on this tv. gaming and playing forza horizon 5 was amazing sharp and detailed, I like tv soo mich i bought two more for my bedrooms. though i admit oled tv dont get bright enough for living rooms so i will be sticking with mini led for that until technology advances enough to fix that issue. black are very detailed. The OS system im not a big fan of though it is functional but just too much as always buy roku streaming stick if tv does not come with roku. I had for about month now and will update reviews 6 months. but overall very happy and as side note two first hdtv were vixio boguht in 2013/2014 and both are still working. also the only issue i found with the tv was soundbar issue as my tcl soundbar recognized at first but then stop working; after hard reset where unplugged all hdmi inputs and put them in one by one starting with sound bar first fixed the issue. i dont have lg to compare the picture to lg as this first oled but i imagine since panels being manufactured by lg there cant be too much of difference but only thing imo that lg has is slight better os system if dont wanna but roky stream stick and for gamers i beleive suppports 120 with dolby vision
I would recommend this to a friend
