Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the superb picture quality, vibrant colors, and smooth refresh rate as significant strengths of the 65" Class P-Series Quantum Series LED 4K UHD SmartCast TV. However, some users have reported issues with the HDMI 2.1 ports and SmartCast software needing improvement. Concerns have also been raised regarding the variable refresh rate (VRR) functionality and blooming. The price-to-performance ratio is frequently praised.

Excellent If you use it as a gaming TV or PC monitor since it provides an excellent refresh rate. It is good for movie/series fans but it can be slightly darker that other TVs of the same capabilities. Sound is acceptable, but most modern TVs built in speakers are aroung the same quality; invest in a sound bar if you expect to use the TV speakers to watch TV, play in a spacious room with others. Immesive gaming should use either quality headphones or a sound bar. A must buy if you are upgrading a 5 years old or more TV system.

I couldn't get a number of video sources to display correctly - Amazon Prime, either through the app or casted to the TV, or Vimeo cast to the TV, would show garbled flashing picture. That caused me to return it. However the backlight was also bad - the local dimming has noticeably huge zones, and the black levels aren't very uniform. For scenes without much local dimming, it did get fairly bright and looked good for 4k HDR when it would stream correctly. It also was recognized as VRR by the Xbox which was nice.

Firmware updates with this TV seem to mess a lot of stuff up. I had my Xbox hooked up and was getting a staticky grey screen one morning. Ended up resetting to factory settings and it fixed it. Seen others online have similar issues that was solved by a factory reset. Also had issues with my remote not working correctly in the menus, but again I believe this was due to a firmware update that was fixed by a factory reset and redownloading the update. Just hope that it is a software problem and not a hardware issue. Have 11 months left on my warranty to find out. Love the TV when it is working properly. Very good for gaming. No noticeable input lag for me. Would not recommend unless you are willing to deal with weird firmware update issues.

Was looking for a second 65" TV (purchased a Samsung Q80R in the summer of 2019) and wanted to stay with in a budget. Pros: Bright, vibrant picture when using Disney+, Netflix and PS4 games; Quick, easy set up; Apple Air Play; Easy to navigate menus; User friendly controller; Cons: Picture quality on over the air antenna is average; limited apps (no ESPN/ESPN+ so you have to use Air Play); the legs aren't the sturdiest and are very wide compared to other 65" TVs (almost 50") so it requires a long TV stand. Overall, very happy with purchase and great value.

This is my first 4K TV after owning a Plasma for 12 years. Had it for almost a year now mainly to use for my PS5. Chose this one because it had good reviews, and had the hdmi 2.1 ports for 4K 120hz. I have enjoyed it a lot, has a great overall picture especially for the price. My only complaint I’ve had so far is that the blacks are not as black as they should be. In scenes in games or movies that should be really dark are almost a grayish and can be a little distracting. I have not messed with the options much, so maybe there is a setting to help. But overall I am happy with my purchase

Great picture but I have been having some issues with the hdmi 3 and 4 (4K @ 120hz) and my series x. TV is up to date with the latest firmware. I adjusted settings on both and everything seems fine for now after resetting the tv twice. Apparently this is a common issue with these TVs. Couldn’t return to Best Buy because the time passed or I would have exchanged it for something else. Only have had the tv for month.

    Great picture-poor implementation of CEC

I had been wanting a P-series since last year and finally decided to bite the bullet when they slipped below $1k for the 65”. I was replacing a 60” E-series from 2013/2014. While the contrast ratio on this TV is fantastic, there is definitely a bit of a problem with halos around images against the black background. I’m able to overlook this considering I was previously watching a 7-year-old 1080p display but some may find it annoying. The biggest problem with this model is that Vizio’s implementation of CEC is broken. I have an Apple TV 4K and a Vizio sound bar (don’t recall the model but it’s from maybe 2017). The volume control from Apple TV to sound bar is fine but the TV doesn’t give an accurate display of the sound level, often going backwards when buttons are pressed. I was able to mostly overlook this since the CEC/ARC pass through from Apple TV to sound bar meant that at least the actual sound was behaving properly. The thing I can’t get over though is that the Apple TV cannot turn off the TV when I put it to sleep. It would also cause the screen to go black a few seconds after power on when the Apple TV would negotiate the connection from HDR10 to DolbyVision. Clearly something is wrong here. One odd thing I noticed is that CEC devices disappear from the CEC menu. And if I run discovery again, it’ll detect the AppleTV and sound bar and allow me to press a single button on the Vizio remote that it’ll pass on to the Apple TV and then stop working again. That particular lack of functionality (controlling the Apple TV with the Vizio remote) isn’t a HUGE deal since I never plan to use anything other than the Siri remote to control Apple TV. But it’s still an indication that something is broken. The best solution I was able to come up with is disabling CEC on the TV but enabling eARC (for some reason this allows the Apple TV to still pass audio through the TV to the sound bar without CEC even though the sound bar doesn’t even officially support eARC). To turn the TV on and off I just use Siri since the TV is connected to HomeKit. I also manually set the Apple TV to Dolby Vision w/HDR so that it doesn’t have to negotiate anything at power-up. It’s not the most amazing solution but it’ll do. All in all, is the picture quality worth the garbage software? I guess it depends on how you plan to use the TV. I’m not a cable subscriber but I wouldn’t count on the CEC connection between a “smart” set top box (Cox contour, etc) and the TV working like it’s supposed to. I will also point out that the Netflix app built into the TV has generally worse image quality than my Apple TV and doesn’t even pass 5.1 audio to the sound bar like my Apple TV does. I don’t necessarily have buyers’ remorse but I am definitely disappointed being that this is one of Vizio’s flagship models right now. The only thing keeping me hopeful is that a lot of this could potentially be fixed with software updates. Here’s to hoping!

I got this because it was affordable and HDMI 2.1 with 120hz. I should have done more research. The picture feels like the contrast is all the way down all the time unless you max it out, the colors are way off, some of the settings are greyed out at random times that seem to have no rhyme or reason - if you want to adjust all of the settings, you have to turn off the device that's hooked up to that HDMI port... and that doesn't always work. I have never experienced software glitches on a TV before. I tried to use the built-in calibration patterns on my Xbox Series X, and when I turned it on the screen scrambled like crazy. It wouldn't work no matter what, and it doesn't work at all if the input doesn't have a signal going to it either. Here's the kicker - the 120hz feature only works on HDMI 3 and 4... which don't work with the PS5 AT ALL. In face, Vizio's own support says that 120 doesn't currently work with the PS5 and to hook it up to HDMI 1 or 2 at 60hz instead. I regret buying this TV and I'm returning it. I have never returned a TV before because it's a huge hassle, but I'm making an exception for this hunk of garbage. I wouldn't buy this TV again if it was $200

I purchased this TV online on August 2. It was delivered on August 6. The picture quality on this TV is superb. It gets really bright and the first 24 hrs were great and then... there was a problem with the hdmi 2.1 ports. Keeps getting green screen flashes when playing games in 4k. Major screen flicking in Netflix and Hulu. So this tv has a panel issue and an hdmi issue. Thankfully Vizio has already sent out a replacement.

I bought it so I could play my new Xbox series X and PS5. The systems look so much better than on my previous tv. Had a bit of troubleshooting to get the right set up. Hdmi 3 for xbox, HDMI 2 for ps5. But both play 4k at 120 frames. Sound is lacking, but most tv now days are reliant on sound bars. This is no different.

I love it, the picture is fantastic especially when I game on my xbox series S, sadly not the series x (yet). The black levels are superb, the colors are great especially on neutral setting, and very clean lines (no ghosting). Very pleasing on the wall as well and the lack tv bezel just frames the picture that much more.

By far the best TV I've ever owned. Picture quality is outstanding, UI is intuitive and quick, great for gaming... I started with a V-series but wanted to upgrade once I got a PS5. 4K 60 FPS looks outstanding on the television and I'm eager to try 120 fps as this tv sports HDMI 2.1 connections. No complaints at all.

I only gave this tv 3 stars because we had nothing but issues with it. The hdmi ports started failing after 3 days. The picture was great, for a few days. Then it started getting pixelated, green lines, and glitching. Changed out all cables and still was doing the same thing so it wasn’t our cables. The backlit is nice and bright when it actually worked. Returned it and got a different brand.

Overall a pretty good tv. It did take some time to get the colors adjusted right for my liking. I did buy this TV specifically for games and once the HDR kicks in it has a very crisp picture but I did have to readjust my picture set up. My suggestion is to make sure to set up each input for whatever your using it for because some picture settings work better than others depending on what you are using the input for. Also at less than $1000 this TV is great for that price anything over $1000 for this tv and you may want to look at a Samsung or Sony

I ordered the new PQ65-H1 the day it became available at Best Buy. I had high expectations, as I have a P65-f1 that I've been happy with. The new H1 checks are the right boxes: HDMI 2.1, low input lag, increased number of dimming zones, freesync support (coming in the future), and high nit count. After getting this TV set up and calibrated close to the settings I had on my Vizio P65-f1, I have to say I'm overall underwhelmed. The TV does well with local dimming and HDR content, but it's not a significant improvement over my older display. Furthermore, the TV was supposed to come with with Freesync support, but Vizio has stated this will be coming in a future update, so I can't speak to its capability as a PC monitor. I hesitate to trust Vizio on promises of future firmware updates. They broke the CEC function on the previous generations and it still does not work properly. If these were my only Cons, I would overall be happy with the display. However, when I hooked up my amp and speakers to the TV through Digital Optical, I get a severe static/crackling noise. I though maybe there was something wrong with my amplifier or Optical cord, so I tried the RCA Aux input on the TV, which eliminated the issue. I figured I should check the amp optical cord on another TV and tried it with my P65-f1. No static or crackling coming through the speakers. This brought me to the conclusion that the Digital Optical port on the Vizio has an issue. This is an absolute deal breaker for me as I intend to run future HDMI 2.1 devices directly to the TV and Optical Audio out to my AVR so I can fully take advantage of 4K 120hz and lossless audio without buying a new AVR. It's apparent that Vizio's Quality Control slipped up with the this 2021 series of TVs. I will be returning the PQ65-H1 and getting the Sony X900H.

Beautiful tv with some growing pains. As a gamer I wanted a good tv for both content consumption, and pc/console gaming. When it works its great, but as HDMI 2.1 is still fairly new and devices that use it are not common it has some occasional software hiccups. Hopefully firmware updates on the tv hardware, and console/computer hardware will iron things out over time. Also make sure that your HDMI cables can process the 4k 120hz signal properly if using that feature.
