    Absolutely Flabbergasted!

In my quest to make my landline obsolete, I began researching for a bluetooth enabled cordless phone. I narrowed my choices down to a set from AT&T, Panasonic, and this VTech unit. Coming from a Pansonic 5.8GHz cordless, I naturally felt inclined to give the Panasonic bluetooth a try, but the negative reviews steered me far enough away from it. My final decision on the VTech was made blindly uneducated due to not finding any reviews on this product. I had a gut feeling I would regret this purchase, since I did not have a pleasant experience with other VTech products in the past. Surprised, was I way wrong! The first thing I love about this phone is the design. It is just pure elegance, with clean lines, modern looks, and looks like a phone that was designed in the 21st century. After setting up the new phone and letting the handset charge for half a day (it recommends up to 16-hours) until the battery was fully charged, I followed the instructions and paired the VTech with my LG Scoop cell phone via bluetooth. The unit had no problems pairing with my cell phone. But when I went to go make a test call, I had no audio on the call. I checked the instructions again and saw the note that said if there was no audio after pairing the bluetooth devices, to unplug the VTech unit, wait 15-seconds and plug it back in. I did exactly that, and upon the VTech turning back on, the bluetooth paired automatically again and this time everything worked, audio and all. That has been the last and only problem I have had with this VTech unit. I made a few test calls and everyone immediately noticed how much clearer and louder I was coming through on their end. Everyone mentioned how much better I sounded compared to the calls on my landline that was paired with a Panasonic 5.8GHz cordless unit. And on my end, everything was crystal clear. Excellent range throughout my entire household and no interference with my 801.11g wireless network. My only two small minor gripes about this VTech unit are that the finish smudges easily from fingerprints, but VTech provides a lint free microfiber cloth to clean the phone with that works perfectly to solve the problem. But that is why I deducted 1 star from the durability rating. The other gripe is I suffer from carpel tunnel, and the ergonomics of the phone are hard on my hands. But that is more a unique problem to me, but even so, it is easily solved by pairing a bluetooth headset to the VTech unit. I have to say I have been quite impressed with this phone. It is not too often that I come across a product that I absolutely rave about. This is one of them. It works perfectly for what I intended this unit to do. By all comparisonw, this is the bluetooth enabled cordless phone to get.

nice looking but won't hold date/time

i was attracted to the phone for it's look, expandibility and blutooth function with my cel. unfortunately it won't hold the date and time. i have to keep reprogramming it into the handset. 24-hours later it's blank. i find that it keeps locking the keypad even when i'm on speaker phone, making it difficult to punch in codes or extension numbers after dialing. i use a voicemail service and the only indication that i have a new vm waiting is on the screen (rather than as a blinking light like other phone models). there is also no preset key to dial into my vm. i have to access a few levels into the phone interface to speed dial it from the directory. while the sound quality and range are good, it just lacks too many 'extra' features found in similar models for the price.

    Great Looking Phone

I love that I can connect 2 cell phones with it without losing the cell phone signal. Think of Bluetooth earpiece--works just like that, only you're carrying it. The one thing that bothers me is that the handset is very sensitive when in use. For example, if your cheek accidentally pressed the Off button in the early part of the call, the next thing you know you are just talking without anyone listening on the other end of the line. One other thing that I don't like about this phone is that it has very outdated ringtones... so 2002. Overall, the phone looks impressive if you're not using it, which I don't really.

Cool phone, BUT No Headset Functionality

    Posted .

I have been using a cordless phone in my primary home office for years. I extensively use it for conference calls and the best part about it is to have a headset that I can plug into the cordless handset and roam around the house. My trusty phone broke down so time to do some research on the latest and greatest replacement out there. I researched a number of phones and read reviews. The best thing I like about this phone is the sleak looks. Also the fact that it has Bluetooth, I can pair it with a number of devices. I had read the specifications beforehand and knew that this set didnt have a headset port. However, it does have the capability to use a bluetooth enabled headset with it. So I thought to give it a try. The issue is that all the pairing happens with the base unit, so the headset is also paired to the base. Because of Bluetooth's short range limitation, I need to be close to the base (not the cordless handset) in order to get good reception. That defeats the purpose of the a cordless phone. Although on the bright side I dont have a wire from my head to the phone, but still it limits my purpose. The other good thing about it was the expansion sets. Again the same limitation. Even if I have an expansion set, the bluetooth headset needs to be close to the original base (not the expansion base) in order to work. So in a nutshell, I would recommend this phone to any home user who doesnt need or want to use a headset. I wish I could keep it but I cant recommend it for business use or long conversations when having a headset is essential. Back to the store this baby goes!

    Slick Looking Phone

Unlike other people, I don't look much at the features of the phone. As long as the phong rings, has good sound, has good reception, and has a good speaker phone I'm good. On the other hand, I look at designs and this phone is by far the best looking phone out there. Not to mention it has bluetooth which works great with my cellphone. If you are like me, always trying to be different, even when it comes to a phone, this is the phone to have. This is a slick looking, modern phone.

    Wow! What a great phone

I started reading all of the bad reviews on just about every phone out there, so I was very concerned when I purchased this phone that it may be returned if it was not up to par. I took a chance because of the price, I purchased it on sale for about $80.00 and the fact that you can pair up to four bluetooths, most of the other brands only allow two. The set up was very fast and easy and in no time I was receiving and making cell phone calls from this cordless phone. I don't get good cell phone reception at home, so this solves the problem. I use this phone for my home office while I work at home, so it gives me essentially two lines (cell and landline) at the same time, which is useful. Also, I can dial out from the landline via cell phone so my cell phone number shows up on caller id when making the call, this way my home phone number does not show up on caller id and I can keep that number private. There are also various ring tones, so I have a special ring tone form my cell phone calls that is different than my landline calls. The phone does get smudged, but it comes with a cloth to keep the phone clean, so this takes care of that concern. This is a good quality phone with excellant reception, and does everything is says it does. I'm very happy with this phone. My mom now wants one for Christmas and my friends at work also want one. If you are looking for a bluetooth phone get this one, for the price and functionality you can't go wrong.

    Great phone for the price

I am very familiar with the this Vtech model. I have had the two older generation phones for this model. After reading some of the reviews on this phone I was hesitant on buy it, but if you are familiar with this style of Vtech you will like this new model. I was happy upgraded the same model. I love how there are no buttons. I wish they had kept the feature that you can load your phonebook info directly from your computer like in the first model. It does not have the option to record your own ring tone, but for the price difference I would rather not have those features. THe older models were over $200 each.

    A few annoying flaws

Not impressed at all. This phone is boring, it has no interesting features other than bluetooth perhaps?? which only work with the base by the way. The touchpad on this phone is a disaster. You can only get used the discomfort and accept it because you might be too lazy to exchange it. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this phone is only good aesthetically. The touchpad is nothing compared to for example an iPhone's touchscreen feel, if anyone tries to make such comparison. I bought this phone 3 weeks ago and had to return it for a more effective one. It is definitely not a reliable phone and I say this because if you are a person who wishes to dial quickly and effectively it will not do the job. It's a pain. You will end up returning the device or lamenting you ever bought it. Best Buy has MANY other smart options. This is not a smart one unless you simply want it for the looks... It does look nice but it will disappoint you! It's just not very good.

    Honest Review

To the guy who said you can only dial using bluetooth from the base, you are partially correct. I had this same issue, until i let the handset charge fully. It worked just fine after about an 80% charge. Can program 2 cell phones to be connected at once, and it will ring and tell you which phone is being called (you can program the name of the phone if you want), and what number is calling it. Sound quality is great. Its really good for people who only get cell service in parts of the house, and wished they could walk around a bit. Only owned it 2 days, but so far no issues. Have used it for a few calls, and i know my girlfriend has used it quite a bit. So far, no issues. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a home phone and not wanting to deal with all the spam calls you get with a standard landline. With the price of unlimited cell service dropping to the $70 pricerange, this should be on every families wishlist.

GREAT PHONE for a great price!

I was really happy when I saw this phone because of the relatively cheap price and bluetooth capabilities....because I can receive cell phone calls through this system, I never find myself running around the house searching for my cell phone anymore. Compact design, and looks great! Crystal clear sound, doesnt interfere with my wifi at all even though it's sitting a few feet from my wireless router. Definitely the way to go if you want a reliable wireless phone and answering machine with bluetooth.

I absolutely love this phone. We've had it for aobut three weeks now and love using it. We also bought the expansion handset for it and they are just phenomenal. This phone is slightly pricey, but the extra features and cool looks were worth the money. Finally I got a phone that looks good AND functions well! I highly recommend this phone!

Nice phone, but a few minor inconveniences...

Bought this phone today for $80 to replace an old VTech system. Wanted a base with screen and keypad, and this was one of the few that fit my criteria. Best Buy doesn't sell additional headsets for this unit, so expect to look elsewhere and spend about $40 per additional unit. Got it home and set it up, but noticed that the base keypad doesn't light up so it is very hard to use without a bright light on in the room. Although I like the phone I plan on returning it, because to have a system of 4 handsets, I'm looking at a total investment of at least $200. Lacks standard features that one would expect the phone to have. If you plan to use it "as is" without any adtl handsets, I'd highly suggest. But for my intentions I plan to find another setup.

There really are no complaints with this telephone. You really have to work to come up with anything to say that's not so great about it. Phone is very sturdy feeling, feels solid. Touch screen works perfectly. Calls are clear and easily heard. Bluetooth setup is simple and works great. I highly recommend you get this phone if you need a new house phone.
