If you are buying this system for the pendant feature, you should know two important things. 1.) The battery in the pendant is not replaceable. When it is dies, you need to buy a new pendant. 2.) You cannot buy a new pendant. VTech support told me directly that the manufacturer of the pendant no longer supplies them. We bought this device in November. It showed up with a "dead pendant" (the battery would not charge). This is how I learned you could not replace the battery, nor could you get a new pendant. We returned this purchase and are looking for one that works out of the box AND is supported by the manufacturer.

We ordered this product from Best Buy for my mother-in-law. She didn't need a "cellular" monthly service, but living alone we wanted her to be able to tell us if she fell. Unfortunately, the product showed up with a dead battery on the pendant. It is NOT a replaceable battery. And after calling VTECH support, I found out their manufacturer no longer makes them. So, this product is worthless now. We wanted it for the pendant, but the product is shipping with old batteries that cannot be replaced.
