The Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection is a brief collection of Disney's most beloved stories. Also, these are not Pixar shorts. I didn't want anyone to be confused between the two. The Shorts Collection is approximately 79 mins long consisting of 12 short stories. Here's a quick list of the stories: John Henry, Lorenzo, Little Match Girl, How to Hook Up Your Home Theater, Tick Tock Tale, Operation Secret Santa, The Ballad of Bessie, Tangled Ever After, Paperman, Get A Horse, Feast, and Frozen Fever. All in all, this is a great collection that the kids will enjoy. Also, there's a brief commentary before each short by the filmmakers of that particular short. I definetely recommend if you enjoy Disney films.

You get the digital copy in iTunes and 150 points in your Disney Movies Anywhere account. The Blu-ray Disc contains a collection of 12 beautiful short films that vary in artistic interpretation. Each short film was created at a different and finally compiled onto one disc. The first film ("John Henry") is about the American folk hero John Henry and his mighty hammer. It is inspiring and a little sad. The second is called "Lorenzo" and is about a cat Lorenzo, who shows off his tail to a stray cat who is missing his tail. The stray cat casts a hex on his tail and gives the tail a life of its own. After a while the cat becomes annoyed to the point it wants to chop off its own tail. The third film "The Little Matchgirl." It's about a child who has to sell matches in winter on the streets of Russia. This is the saddest short film I have ever watched. The fourth film is "Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa." It is a comical film about two elves who have to sneak into Santa's workshop to retrieve a special box. This box is part of the gift that Mrs. Claus wants to give Santa. The fifth film is called "The Ballad of Nessie" and is about how the Lochness monster came to be in a cute way. The story told in poem form. The sixth film is "Paperman" is about a young man who meets a beautiful young woman because the paper he was holding flew out of his hands and into her face, leaving a lipstick "kiss" on it. What ensues are his failed attemps to find her. The seventh film is "Tangled Ever After" which the the sequel to "Tangled." Here it's the wedding of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The ring bearers (Pascal and Maximus) accidentally lose the rings. Their adventure to retrieve the rings makes this film comical. The eighth film is called "Get a Horse!" This is about Mickey and Minnie when they were first created. His nemesis, Peg-leg Pete comes and tries to steal Minnie away. This film in my opinion, was very creative because of what happens Pete tries to steal Minnie. The ninth film is called "Feast." It is about a stray puppy who is taken in by a man who works at a restaurant. This man meets a woman who changes his life for the better until they break up. The puppy gets them back together. The tenth film is called "Frozen Fever." This is the sequel to "Frozen." Here it's Anna's birthday and her sister Elsa is trying hard to make it a magical birthday for her. But Elsa gets a cold which makes it difficult for her to plan the party. The eleventh film is called "How to Hook Up Your Home Theater." This was created in similar fashion of the old Goofy cartoons with Goofy reading a how-to-manual and creating a mess in what should've been an easy process. The final short is called "Tick Tock Tale." It is about a small clock is bullied by other bigger and more elaborate clocks. One day, the store where the clocks live is burglarized and the small clock comes to the rescue. This movie is not only great for families, but also for those interested in different art forms.

I mainly purchased this item because of the Frozen short film. I didn't want the Cinderella movie, so this was the only other option. I did notice it had the Tangled short film which I was interested in seeing and Feast which I saw and liked when we watched Big Hero 6. The others I was unsure and unfamiliar with. Most of them are good in my opinion. My daughter loves a lot of them, but not all. I think it's a good buy, your tastes vary, so chances are you wont love them all, but it's a great collection. If you are familiar with any of them and enjoy them, it will be a good buy for you. Gives good options for short things to watch if you don't want a long movie. John Henry's song will get stuck in your head however!

We purchased this for our 18 month old son. He loves Frozen and Tangled. There were a few other shorts on here that we thought he would enjoy as well. None of the shorts were exclusive to the DVD or something we had not seen somewhere else before (Youtube, other Disney movies etc) which was a little disappointing. It does consolidate them all into one location and gives you a digital copy which was a must for us. We keep his movies on our ipad in case we get stuck somewhere during a trip and need to keep him entertained. Wish the price was a bit cheaper given none of the shorts were exclusive to the DVD. This is the reason for -1 star.

There are about 6 shorts on here that are amazing. But there are 12 shorts in the collection. My husband liked all but 1. Me, not so much. I love that we have a collection with PaperMan and Feast. They are high up in my list of favorite short films. But a lot of the others weren't something I'd watch over and over. If you have a Frozen/Tangled fanatic you'll have to have this for those. They are both really cute, but not enough for me to run out and buy it. Get the Kleenex before you watch Little Match Girl though. There are also a few Disney shorts that weren't included, they are on YouTube, but again not a lot of replay, just would have been nice to have a full collection.

This collection has a great selection of shorts from WDAS, from the past decade or so. Including some that had yet to see a home video release, like Lorenzo. While lacking in bonus features compared to the Pixar Short Films Collections, the main presentation is about feature film length, and encompasses a wider range of visual styles and tones. There's a lot of great work on display, and something for everyone, but this is especially great as a piece for animation enthusiasts and members of the industry to study as examples of more modern character animation and visual language.

The big draws in this set will be the two follow-ups for the recent hit films "Tangled" & "Frozen", and they are both fun. The rest of the shorts here are quite good as well, definitely worth watching. You get to see a variety of styles & techniques, and storytelling done both with & without dialogue. Each short may be viewed with an introduction by its maker. There is also a brief panel discussion among several of the filmmakers. A nice addition to a Disney collection, showing just how much can be done in a few minutes of story.
