Just ok

This version tries to tie the elements together with some care but without much clarity or drama which I found kind of lacking. This story is always interesting but not always well done. I thought this was the case here.

Excellent, but highly abridged.

To do his book any true justice would require several seasons of filming rather than only a mini series... Although if you've never read his book and only watch this series, it is excellent for what it is.

An epic story of war and its’ ravages
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exceptionally well-told, competently acted, superbly directed, and filled with marvelous cinematography, this historical drama of Imperial Russia and the Napoleon Invasion is a delight to view. A grand orchestra supports the perfectly tuned sound-track which amplifies the emotion of each scene. It is an epic story of war and its’ ravages, agony and anguish, a journey of discovery, the innermost life of the epics’ characters, and the value of people and their families.
