The movie is great, but the Steelbook design is strange. The art work is fantastic, but It isn't made like most steelbooks are today. The Spine folds different and it clicks against itself every time it's opened. Not sure how long this will hold up, but it was fairly cheap.

My favourite movie of all time, I have seen it so much I can quote the whole movie and Tom cruise again doesn’t play his character he becomes it. It starts off a little slow at the start but it’s a journey of maverick and his love story with Charlie and how he lives his life and when goose dies that’s when everything starts to go up a bunch and your on the edge of your seat of how maverick will return after losing his co pilot and best friend and learn to just go on. After the ending with the dogfight it’s so heart warming when him and iceman make up and they all hug it out. Then at the end Charlie plays you’ve lost that loving feeling easily best song in the movie maybe danger zone or take my breath away is in their, but anyways they talk about how he crashed and burned on the first and how the second is looking good so far just like when they first met in the bar and then the music at the end with all the cast and I miss goose every time I watch this movie, but it was almost needed for maverick to reach his full potential and I can’t wait for Top Gun 2 to come out I am so hyped for it and if you haven’t seen this movie or you don’t like it then you really need to rethink your life because this movie has changed my life and is my favourite movie of all time by far not even a change with anything else. Finally, the way maverick is with his cockiness is his personality and when he learns how to be a great pilot and a humble man is the great part about the movie. They want you to know that no matter what obstacles you face in life, you will have people to support you even if you don’t believe so and you will get through any hard time because you are not the first person to ever face that hardship. Just look out to those for help because everyone needs a little help sometimes. God bless and #gooseliveson ❤️

Steven Spielberg’s 2005 War of the Worlds is a movie I think every physical media collector needs in their library. While I wouldn’t say it’s a classic, H.G. Wells’s original story definitely is, and Spielberg brilliantly retold the story in a more modern fashion, with more of the technology of today’s world. I remember watching this movie all the time as a kid, and loving it. So it was great to rewatch it now, to really understand the plot. In my eyes, any of Spielberg’s movies are excellent, and this one is definitely not excluded from that. Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, ET, Schindler’s List, the man is just a genius. Now, is it worth the upgrade to 4K? I would say no. I only bought it because I didn’t own a copy of it prior to this release. Despite sounding great on paper, being shot on 35mm film, and being treated to a new 4K digital intermediate, you would expect to be blown away. But unfortunately, I don’t think it was as much of an upgrade over the regular Blu-ray, as say, something like Interstellar. Being that it was shot on 35mm, it’s going to have grain, and in turn it won’t have the sharpness “punch” that modern digital cameras have, despite being real 4K. Also, the color grading in the entire movie is rather dead and gray. This moody look is not a poor implementation of HDR though, moreover a stylistic choice of the film makers. But because of that, it isn’t going to pop in HDR with vibrant colors as much as those of Gemini Man or any modern movie with lots of explosions or sci-fi effects. For this one, if you have the blu-ray, I would probably just stick with that if you’re looking to save some money. But if you don’t currently own a copy, or just have to have the best format, it won’t disappoint you, and Dolby Atmos will definitely give your system a workout (especially the subwoofer when the aliens roar).

Excellent and phenomenal native 4K disc! Compared to the standard blu-ray disc that is also included in this combo pack (the same blu-ray that was released previously in 2010), the color depth is greatly improved and Dolby Vision elevates it even further. Black levels are excellent and improves on depth without sacrificing fine object detail. The 4K disc also comes loaded with different subtitles option: English, English SDH, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Cantonese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Korean, Mandarin (Simplified), Mandarin (Traditional), Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Thai There are no special features/extras on the 4K disc itself, but are provided on the standard blu-ray disc, which includes: -Revisiting the Invasion (7:39) -The H.G. Wells Legacy (6:34) -Steven Spielberg and the Original "War of the Worlds" (8:00) -Characters: The Family Unit (13:22) -Previsualization (7:42) -Production Diaries (4 parts): 1. East Coast - Beginning (22:30) 2. East Coast - Exile (19:39) 3. West Coast - Destruction (27:29) 4. West Coast - War (22:20) -Designing the Enemy: Tripods and Aliens (14:07) -Scoring 'War of the Worlds' (11:57) -We Are Not Alone (3:14) -Four still galleries: 1. Sketches by Costume Designer Joanna Johnston 2. Production Stills 3. Behind the Scenes 4. Production Sketches -War of the Worlds trailer (1:59) If you're a fan of this film and already own the blu-ray disc, I still highly recommend upgrading to 4K!

I certainly enjoyed this movie when it first came out, but also years later when this steel book came out. Another Spielberg classic, it has mystery, suspense, the alien tripods we're genuinely scary!

It's hard to really review this disc, on one hand, it looks great and is a huge upgrade from the blu-ray. On the other hand, the audio isn't reference quality. I got no bass from this, overall if you don't care about audio this is worth picking up, if you do, I would say you can skip this one.
