Fun for WH40k Fans - Disappointed in Co-op

Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr is a very fun Diablo-esque action RPG set in the universe of Warhammer 40k. You have three character classes to choose from, each with a choice of three different subclasses which adds to the game's replay value. The most disappointing part of this game for me, however, is the manner in which co-op was implemented. Instead of allowing two users to sign into their own profiles and use their own characters (like Diablo III), the co-op mode only allows your co-op partner to select from several pre-made characters with no permanence to any advancement that is done during your co-op session. Co-op also isn't available until you have played the first five missions. I was really looking forward to playing this game with my son in co-op, but the manner in which co-op was implemented kind of takes away from any excitement at playing together.

I'm a huge fan of Warhammer 40K and as usual i went into this with lowered expectations after the slew of sub-par WH40K games recently. The WH40K world is spot on, however the game itself doesn't run very well. The game play is fun, but until the performance issues are patched i can't recommend it.

I probably wouldn't have purchase this game for about $60 when it first came out. The game is a bit repetitive but it seem to have a good story. I got it for $10 and for this price, the game is worth it.

    Glitchy, awful, tiring, uninspiring

Everything about this game is a pale, sad Diablo 3 rip-off, except for the amount of fun and entertainment even the worst experience with D3 contained. When you're going to rip something off, try to do it one better, you know? Story: Acceptable, surprisingly. You find a magic spaceship, derelict and aimless, before boarding it. Of course it's evil and requires tons of investigation, but the fact that it was wandering around for millenia, and you have no idea what you're going to uncover, it gave the game a creepy coolness it didn't deserve... or earn in any other fashion. The good story is a rare hit in a collection of misses. Graphics: Terrible. Putrid even. One of the rare games where my eyes hurt after playing it for only a few minutes. Everything is washed out, greyish brown, blurry, as if you were playing it on an old CRT TV. A really sad experience, especially when you couple it with stunted, slow character movement and a severe, unmitigated PS1-era group of terrible cutscenes. So, so bad. Music: The songs in the game were passable... but there were only a few of them. The more I review this game, the more it reminds me of some decades-old floppy disc indie title without any effort applied to it. Gameplay: Disastrous. I hope that, by the time you read this, the glitches are worked out. If they aren't, however, shame on this company. So many crashes, both soft and hard. Controller snafus so incomprehensibly bad that you'll watch your character chug ALL his medicines while the attack buttons are locked out. And a lock-on system that will absolutely, 100%, unavoidably go down as the worst in video gaming history. It's a shooter, essentially, where you have to lock on to an enemy to hit it... and god help you if there's a treasure chest or barrel in the way, because your dude is gonna RUSH over to open it in the middle of a battle. And die. Often. Oh my goodness, what a failure this game and its programming is. Synopsis? Massively terrible in virtually every way. If you could conceive of a game made hideously bad on purpose, this would be the end result. Almost impressive, really. Almost.

The game is lacking in features but the devs are doing a terrific job of improving things and listening to the community. Get this game on sale and you’ll probably be happy with it in a few months.

Online only and no campaign co-op mud up what could have been a great action rpg.

This latest Warhammer title offers a ton of story for fans of the franchise and plenty of gameplay mechanics for experienced action RPG players. Thankfully, regular gamers can enjoy the Diablo-but-with-guns gameplay too
