This was my first Mandolin and I was very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this to beginners and anyone looking to buy a nice mandolin and not break the bank doing it. I will buy another but it with be an F-style just to get a different type and add it to the collection. I will keep this instrument forever and just pass it on down my line of musicians. Thanks to Oscar Schmidt and Washbun for an awesome product and great craftsmanship.

This is my first mandolin. I have really enjoyed it. The only gripe I have is that it did not come with assembly instructions for the bridge. Other than that, I am really enjoying it!

OK, first a disclaimer: I know nothing about mandolins, just bought this to try it out as the price is right and this has great reviews. But I have played guitar for 30 years so I'm no stranger to stringed instruments. So far it's a nice instrument - looks good, sounds good. I'm still in the process of setting it up, and I don't know but a few chords on mandolin. However... it does come with the floating bridge detached. Not a problem for me, I know how to set action and intonation. But a simple instruction sheet would be great for beginners. There are plenty of youtube videos out there that will help. I broke two of the high E-strings before I realized some other problems: One: The tailpiece is bent down so that the strings leave it at an angle. Should be no problem to bend it up a little. Two: The tailpiece cover has sharp edges, especially underneath - WHERE THE STRINGS RUB due to the bad angle. I believe that a simple quick polish of the tailpiece cover would help a lot - and the tailpiece angle should be checked before shipping. I understand why they leave the floating bridge detached, so I have no issues there. That is all... I'm sure I will discover more that I like and dislike about this instrument as I get to know it. It is a pretty little thing...
