I used the long cord to keep them plugged in and charged. Plus they had better night view

It can be used long term depending on your outlet. You can also use the charger to bring your battery to charge and then unplug without taking your camera down.

Great power cable!

I was skeptical at first and figured to just try it out. Its amazing! Holds a charge and i dont have to worry with the thickness of the wire.
