Wasteland 2 is a great game with enhancements from the pc version. User interface is clunky at times with small text making it hard to read. Hopefully it will be fixed with a patch in the future. Overall fantastic gameplay and turned based strategy.

Another early 90s style game getting a modern facelift. It mixes the exploration of Baldur's Gate with the combat of X-COM. If you remember these games fondly, this is your game; if you're looking for a fast paced adrenaline rush, pass. With a $40 price tag, it's worth checking out if you missed the classics.

The story is harsh and set in a post apocalyptic world with consequences to your actions in this game. The gameplay is similar to the XCOM turn based console games and if you are a fan of those games you buy this game. The graphics are decent for the genre but the gameplay is where it is at. The controls are adapted well to the gamepad.

    The pre-curser to Fallout

The original Wasteland appeared in the late 80's on home computers, and this sequel was a Kickstarter success for PC's several years ago. If you are familiar with Fallout 1 & 2 (not 3 or New Vegas), you will know this is a tactical, team-based RPG (not a shooter). There is a TON to get lost in as far as customization, and it is a blast. It can be hard to keep track of everything, but if you like post-apocalyptic wastelands that challenge you to think without challenging your reflexes, pick this up and enjoy!

Wasteland is a turn based RPG like the original Fallout. In fact the original Wasteland was the inspiration for Fallout. It plays real well on the XBOX One console for a port from PC. This game is very challenging . I found parts difficult and had to replay often to make sure characters did not die. People die so save often. I only have a couple hours on it but found it enjoyable. I am not a fan of current trends in games to not have a good instructions manual. But the tutorial was very helpful. Character skills can be a bit confusing.

This is an old-school, turn-based RPG. I have enjoyed the first 10 hours or so. The only thing I haven't liked is he few times I've felt out of control regarding outcomes of battles, like having the enemy lob several grenades at my team on the first turn. Some encounters have you completely outclassed. Still, an interesting universe with X-Com style mechanics.

Wasteland is a solid turn-based strategy game that will not disappoint. While X-Com is still the pinnacle of the of the genre, the fact that the new X-Com is PC only this helps to fill the gap left by its absence. The graphics are serviceable, the gameplay is tight, and the atmosphere really works.

    Decent Tactics Game

I did not play the first Wasteland so I didn't buy it out of nostalgia as I'm sure many people did. I enjoy strategy and tactics games. To the point, Wasteland 2 is a pretty decent tactics game. It's got the RPG HP/XP elements, more than a few possible specialization options, and okay graphics. The music is nice but becomes repetitive about halfway through. The voice acting is hit or miss - there are several spoken phrases which made me wonder if they had any audio direction at all. As in many games where possible attacks are shown with percentage to hit, it does seem like the player gets some head-shakingly poor luck throughout. This is fine, as it is a wasteland and everything is falling apart anyway. Sort of adds to the feel of it. I am about halfway through and have no emotional attachment to any character beyond my natural OCD to never let a comrade fall (which means save often). The storyline is amateur and not engaging. When the game was first released, I would have bought it for the $40 retail price they were asking, if I weren't in financial straits. Thankfully I decided to wait and got it at Best Buy for $10 - and I would say that the game barely makes it to that price point with regards to its quality. Disappointing in terms of how excited I was at a tactics game coming to Xbox One. Hopefully a more experienced studio can do better within the same genre, even as an Indie game.

Got this for my husband. He said its similar to the original but with some changes. If you like this type of post-apocalyptic role playing game and enjoyed the first one, this is worth a look.

This game feels, looks, and plays like an old school PC RPG. Remember putting countless of hours staring at your screen clicking on your mouse tweeking stats? Yes, you can now do that on your console. The problem is, if you're sharing your TV with others this will take you forever to complete the game. Plus be prepared to squint for hours trying to read the tiny text in this game. Is it too much for a developer to comprehend that a console player does not sit only a foot from their television and that most TV's do not have resolution anywhere near that of a PC monitor?

I admit I waited to purchase this game until the price went down. So with that in mind I have to say this is a great game for the price I paid. Best Buy had the BEST Buy so I took the bait. Glad I did. Great vice work in the game. Its a turn base RPG and does a nice job of it so even younger players can pick up on it. Although its not the prettiest game it still is written well and the choices you make have surprises.
