Good story about Family, Fathers, and Sons. About the honor and futility of war. About the power of hope and the power of love. About a time when even enemies understood the pain of war. It was interesting to see Russell Crowe direct himself into a very understated character with an unstoppable will. Very good expansive visuals in this movie.

The claim that The Water Diviner is "inspired by true events" is a bit of a stretch, but it tells a good story that my wife and I easily got involved in. To me, the Turkish characters were the most interesting, as was the ability of at least some of the one-time enemies to develop a mutual understanding. The extras are worth watching.

This movie was a wonderful surprise for me, far exceeding my expectations! Russell Crowe is one of today's best actors, and his strong performance carries this movie to greatness. It tells the story of a father who defies heartbreak and overcomes great odds and dire adversity to grimly retrieve and give proper burial to the bodies of his three sons, killed in battle at Gallipoli. I learned much about a little known but bloody battle, while enjoying a movie that teaches us that war is an abomination in which all sides lose. Really a good, good movie!

This is Russell Crowe's debut as a director. In short its a story about him going to recover his son's bodies which were lost in battle. Presumed dead he finds some surprises along the way to give the story some intrigue and suspense. Also it has the typical cliché love attachment. Not a bad movie at all something different.

The plot was an interesting one and for one having lived in Istanbul over the last five years, I found the historic portion most informative for an audience being American. Not many Americans are aware of the World War I casualties endured by the Aussies in this conflict along the Turkish Coast in one battle alone. The name is appropriate for the symbolic reason that one needs to discover by viewing this DvD.

Russel Crowe shows a lot of passion and guts to finds his presumed dead sons. With the memory of his dead wife and the belief he knows how to find them because he can find water, you'll see. I liked this movie and you will too.

To me ..... This movie is about Russel Crowes ability to communicate the many dimensions of being a man. The additional male roles in the movie
flesh out this same theme masterfully; tender ferocious passionate deep hearted men, true to themselves, each other, their families their country.
Australia and Turkey .... the beauty of land, weather people.

The movie was better than I had anticipated and as usual, Russel Crowe was superb. His role as a father of three sons killed in another senseless war was convincing.

This film was better than I thought it would be. Crowe directed and it was good. though I'm sure he'd never turn out something not fitting. a father looks for the sons he sends off to war after he finds out they all died and after the mother commits suicide. very moving, how do you find where your sons were actually killed while the war in Greece and turkey is still going on.

Emotional story about the anguish of parents re "lost" children. Photography was outstanding. Painting the Greeks or British as the "bad" guys a question of perspective as the Turks were the enemy and lost the war

The acting in this movie was very good. Russell Crowe did a great job and the storyline was excellent. It gave a side to the Galliopoli battle much unlike other attempts. Highly recommend.

Wonder job of acting by Russell Crowe as a father trying to recover the bodies of his three sons killed in the battle of Gallipoli...a few years after the war ends.
