This is great, but kind of overkill

While I'm not convinced that the heat sync or "gaming mode" really does much, this is a very nice drive, looks good in my build, and is fast even by SSD standards.
Honestly though, this is overkill, and the average gamer likely won't notice any difference between this and a SATA SSD. So if you're not as concerned about aesthetics as me, just buy a SATA drive and get a few games to put on it with the extra money.

It's a pcie nvme 'x4'. It's not a Samsung 970 plus

But I never compared. This ssd doesn't deserve an individual not understanding what it's meant for thus only giving it 50%. I wish they were cheaper. I have a b&m key SATA SSD 3 128, m key pcie nmve 256, and another surface 128gb. I just buy pcie x16 that for 3 and can install 3 on the board.

I love it. I can load GTA V into a Story mode in 25 seconds. I can boot to windows in 10! Speed and size. This has been very reliable. Now I wish I had a much larger one so that all the games on my other drives would respond just as fast. 4,000 MBs read speed is great

I've used this drive for about one year as my Windows 10 boot drive.
Benchmark software reports speeds saturating the PCIe 3.0 interface. In other words the drive is very fast, better than 3000 MB/s read and write.
I purchased the version with installed heat sink. In that configuration the device is very nice looking.
It would be nice if WD included the M2x3mm screw needed to attach it to the motherboard.

Personally I thought this was a better value for the purpose I was going to use it for (gaming) compared to the new SN850. It's a fast storage drive and I really liked that it came with a heatsink, though not necessarily needed if you have a motherboard that covers up the NVMe drive with it's own heatsink.

Upgrade my system from SATA SSD drives for my OS to this 1TB M2 drive. Speed is night and day.
Download the software from WD that monitors the drive for you has other features as well. Also in the application is a Clone software to clone your Drive with the OS to this M2 to make it easy.

Replaced an HP gamer 256 SSD original drive with this one. It was much faster than the original and it is 1TB. I had to totally replace the start system on the new drive, but that was because the computer only had one NVMe port. I am very satisfied I went to the trouble of replacing the original drive!

Installed on my motherboard. Used WD free software to transfer my old C/ drive into this one with no issues. Does not come with a mounting screw so make sure to find the ones that come with the motherboard.

Great SD
Smooth and fast for gaming
No M2 screw included though
Make sure you check your motherboard to see if the M2 is there, if not, order in advance before you order this
