I believe this is the type of ssd we'll need to expand our storage on the PS5. 4.0 that reads at 7GBs & write at 5GBs. Should be able to keep up with the speed of the internal sdd. I hope I'm right but the price, ugh. Just keeps getting more & more expensive to keep up with technology.

Great price for 1TB PCIe NVMe! Fast and reliable NVMe. Highly recommended if you are looking for very good NVMe.

This is the currently the fastest single SSD available on the market but to get that speed you need a PCIe 4.0 motherboard. I purchased this drive in anticipation of upgrading my motherboard in the near future. In the meantime, I installed this 1TB WD SN850 alongside a 1TB WD SN750 in my i9-9900k computer that has only PCIe 3.0 nvme slots. Using the benchmark feature of the Ubuntu "disks" utility they give exactly the same performance numbers. Both saturate the pcie 3.0 bus giving a little better than 3000 MB/s read and write speed. WD you have done a great job bringing the fastest possible SSD technology to my local Best Buy store at a very reasonable price. I'll mention one annoyance. The drive does not come with one of the tiny M2x3mm screws needed to secure the drive. I had to dig through my collection to find one. Really motherboard manufacturers should replace those screws with tool-less retention clips. Those tiny screws are difficult to install even if you have one on hand.

Bought this for my PS5. Simple to install. Seems as fast, if not just a hair faster than the internal storage that came in the PS5. I bought the 1 TB drive and it is more space than the original drive. I have been playing games installed on this drive and have seen no issues.

works better then expected for PS5 just had to get a heatsink and it ran perfect. If you are looking to get a M.2 for your PS5 this one is perfect for it without breaking the bank.

Ridiculously fast, easy to install and setup. Dropped this onto an ASRock B550 Taichi, booted to a USB drive and installed Windows 10 in about 15-20 minutes. I'm disappointed that WD hasn't setup the WD Dashboard startup to run without requiring elevation after every shutdown.

NOT related to the SSD at all, but I forgot all about limitations of the B550 motherboard chipset including the amount of PCIe 4.0 lanes available. On my MSI B550 Tomahawk motherboard I have this in the 4.0 slot, but I still have my other M.2/NVMe slot occupied by another Gen3 SSD. Because of that I believe I'm limited to Gen3 speeds by this. Even then - I'm benchmarking Reads at 4800Mb/s versus the max theoretical 7000Mb/s which I still consider to be very good. With my own limitations, I ended up returning one of the two of these that I purchased. Coming from an HP EX950 2TB that I already own, this doesn't appear to be faster in day to day use. It is definitely benching higher though. Consider it future proofing or whatever you will, but I know this is a very capable performer and probably the best (fastest) 1TB NVMe SSD available to date.

Absolutely fantastic. This is why you buy from a reputable company like WD. I purchased another brand, Sabrent Rocket Plus, and had nothing but problems with the write speed. It ended up as the company telling me it was Windows, go figure! Well, I bought this beauty and I've had consistent and BLAZING R&W speeds across the board. I'm at nearly 7k Read and I've hit 5200 writes even though this says 5k write. It runs a little hotter than the Sabrent did, even with a 3rd party good heatsink. But it's nothing that needs to be worried about, at all. I really notice a difference from an Intel gen 3 665. I Could not recommend this enough. The software that you can download for it is pretty intuitive too. Overall for the extra $29 cost vs the Sabrent and the fact that I'm supporting local jobs in a big business over Amazon. It's a big win.

Fit my ps5 and made it so I can save several AAA games. Woudl hihgly recommend to those with storage space issues. very easy to install, just need a heat sync for it and youll be good to go

I bought this for my PS5 and it has worked great and even runs faster than the internal drive. Installation was easy. I paired this with a 10 dollar heat sink from amazon and i am very pleased.

Essential for owners of the PS5. The great thing about this is that they keep getting cheaper and cheaper. If you can get the higher storage capacity. But if you can't wait then get this

I love this SSD and used it to upgrade the boot drive for my laptop. I also got a second one to use in my PS5. My laptop has a Gen 3 motherboard, but this Gen 4 SSD still gave me a performance boost, according to CrystalDiskMark.

I was skeptical of putting this SSD in took a look at a video but honestly, it's the most carefree experience easier than my PS4 expansion days. Flip PS5 over grab & slightly push away & upwards the faceplate revealing the inside literally next to the fan is the slot a precision screwdriver unscrew initial bolt add SSD it will kinda suspend in the air that's what the various holes are for bolt down your SSD screw cover back format & presto 1TB extra space speeds are excellent heatsink already included make the purchase

Bought this for my Playstation 5 and it installed easily and is fast. The games i have running off this drive load faster than the they do on the stock drive. My only gripe is the price, for this price it should be at leats 2tb.

You have to add a heatsink when you install this, but that's super easy as long as you get one that definitely fits with the PS5. I was extremely glad to finally be able to add extended SSD storage to the wimpy amount that came w/the PS5, and this drive is nice and fast. It's the one IGN rated the best for the PS5, so don't hesitate if you want extra (and fast) storage. It was a breeze to install, fits and runs perfectly, and now my PS5 is complete.

This is the main drive on my PC, and it is incredibly fast. This is worth every penny I spent, and I would recommend it to anyone

I bought this NvME drive for my PS5 and I've been very happy with the results. Transferring games between the system drive and this drive is finished within a minute or two (versus the long time it takes with a traditional external HDD). Load times if not instantaneous, are merely a few seconds. I installed it with a heatsink as recommended by Sony and the speed was as advertised. I highly recommend this product.
