I recently switched an older Gen 4 PCI NVMe drive (from a competitor brand) PCI over to my Playstation 5 from my ASUS ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop. So, when I was looking for a new one to replace it, I took a shot on this drive. I’ve owned several of WD’s drives over the years, all the way back to the days of external hard disk drives and always found them to be very reliable and value-oriented. They don’t always make the prettiest products but when you’re burying something inside of a computer where no one can see it, who cares? It just needs to work. In the case of the SN850X, it’s definitely living up to the reputation. With an advertised 7,300MB/s read speed, you are never more than a few seconds away from launching an app or program and, in the case of gaming, ultra fast load times are par for the course. I am actually tempted to do a head-to-head comparison between it and the 980 Pro I own as well inside the PS5 since it gives you a speed rating once you’ve formatted it. It would be interesting to see which one performs better. In short: great SSD that takes advantage of PCI Gen 4 speeds and can theoretically hang with the best of the “premium” brand products out there. For even a hardcore gamer or production person, this drive should suit you very well.

Super fast speeds as adverstised as long as your putting in a computer/console that handles PCIe v4.0 or newer. It does tend to run hotter even with a heatsink it can hit 62 degrees C. This is is typical on all gen 4 drives, however. Highly recommended to use a heat-sink for maximum peformance otherwise the drive could throttle your speeds down if temps get over 80-85 degrees C.

You need this! Its a great drive that gives you fast speed and a very easy install, along eith the 1tb size gives you plenty of space for all you need!

This drive, the SN850x, as well as the Samsung 990 Pro are the very best PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSDs on the market, and this one tends to be a fair amount cheaper. Ive probably purchased a dozen or so for different computers and as gifts. It's a fantastic drive. And while, in my newest build, I use a Gen 5 drive as my primary "OS drive," I still use a SN850x as my second drive. I've never had any issues. Completely recommend.

Plenty of storage and works fast for my main operating systems on my computer

Solid performing drive. WD is once of the few brands I still trust in the storage market. The SN850X hits the speeds I would expect in CrystalDiskMark, but I still prefer Samsung from a price/performance perspective.

I loaded up my Gigabyte B650I Ultra with 3 of these things and man. Took it like a champ. All jokes aside, these drives are fast. I've got a 1TB OS drive, a 2TB for personal files and photos (RAW format off my Canon SL3), and a 4TB game drive. It would have been 4TB for photos and 2TB for games, however, games these days are getting larger and larger. I've used Samsung 980 Pros in the past, but I wanted to give WD a try this time. I have a 4TB external from them that's seen 5 PC builds over the last 8 years. I'm expecting these WD Black SN850X drives to live up to the same standard. reliable and fast storage. so far, it's been a solid experience!

Fantastic drive. Simple install, great speed and performance. Swapping this drive with an older one that I cloned to this actually fixed an issue with my icue software not loading. Also an absolute steal for the sale price of $50

I bought this to expand the storage of my laptop, which had an empty NVMe slot. Installing the SSD was easy and the laptop immediately recognized it. After formatting the drive, I moved my library of Steam games to the drive. As expected, games load quickly. Excellent product!

I bought this for expanded storage for gaming on my Asus Tuf A16. It was easy to install and initialize and steam made it easy to move all of my games over to the new Drive. I've been playing on it for a few weeks and I noticed solid performance. I also got it for $135 before prices went up and I'm so happy I bought it when I did.

I've tried all the top ranked gen 4 nvme m.2 ssd's on the market and this is top 5 without a doubt and at a reasonable price as apposed to some of the others. I only gave it 4 stars because there are a few others I'd put ahead of this one in my testing, but definitely worth a shot if you need a better and reliable hard drive.

Was looking at the Samsung 980 Pro but this has better performance. Getting over 7000 Mbps which is a lot faster than my last gen 970 Evo Plus. Best price for the size of the drive from the competition.
