Not to big and does exactly what it should. 12TB of storage. Well more like 10.9TB I believe after its formatted. That's no fault to the drive as that's with every drive. Trying to find this in stock is currently hard to do. Finding it in stock on sale almost impossible. Hopefully can snag another one soon.

Lots of storage space, with bargain price. Great for apple time machine.

Great external HD, easy to use, and high capacity!
Absolutely phenomenal deal for the amount of memory I got. It does seem to load slower sometimes for some reason but not a big deal. it is a hard drive after all. don’t regret the purchase at all.

I bought a second unit so I could have double guarantee that I won't lose my valuable photo files from my travels. Easy to hook up and use, quiet operation. Uses very little desktop space. I ;love it!

A good drive that was on sale for a great price and isn't a shingled magnetic recording (SMR) model like the cheap Western Digital models or those horrible Seagate drives that fail if you looked at it cross-eyed. I just wish hard drive prices weren't still artificially inflated since the 2011 Thailand floods.

Like most Western Digital external drives, this one is a good value. I bought it to upgrade when I needed a little more space (replacing an old 4TB USB 2.0 WD drive, which is still working and can still be used for other files), and it's doing the required work quickly and efficiently.

I use this drive to store huge backup files of 50G - 300G in size. The transfer speeds copying to this 12TB drive from an internal SSD are a consistent 160MB/Sec. The same setup using a 10TB WD Elements destination gives consistent 205MB/Sec performance. Not real noticeable unless copying the larger files. The reduced price makes it acceptable, but wish WD would publish the transfer speeds in their specs.

I been running out of space for content for my Plex Media Server. I went into bestbuy to exchange a faulty mouse when I walked by I happen to glance over and found the drive was $179. CRAZY! I grabbed it up was thinking about getting 2. This thing performs great avg copy speed is 200MB/s. It is in use 24/7 hooked up on my desk connected to my PC. Very quite drive with little to no vibration. Once the 2 year warranty is up I plan on shucking this drive and connecting it directly inside my case. Great drive if you need to store large backups or host lots of media content.

I own varying capacities of this drive model. Since I use a notebook computer, I don't have the ability to expand storage on the notebook to hold all 85 terabytes of adult video. I would go with a NAS solution but I have become too lazy to make that migration from external USB storage. I get solid speeds of up to 130-140 mb/s... which for my purposes of shuffling and enjoying adult videos is perfect. I haven't experienced a failed WD external drive in 6 years. So, for somebody who treasures his adult videos, I fully endorse this product.

Great value when it is on sale. Easy to set up. Just plug in the power cable and the usb cable. Bestbuy should fix the specifications information on the webpage though. It is listed as 7200rpm, but it is actually 5400 rpm. Wasn’t noticeable for my uses, but it may be important to others.

I've used several of these WD drives 24/7 and they all run quiet and reliable. I has total confidence in WD over Seagate drives that will start clicking and grinding in a year. Since they are priced as low as the Seagates, it's a NO BRAINER to pick WD!

Love the massive 12TB size. It’s got a USB 3.0 connection. I switched from Seagate hard drives to Western Digital after having failures with Seagate. WD drives have never failed me!

As a photographer, I use a lot of storage. The last time I built a computer, I installed a pair of 4TB disks (1 as an archive and 1 with edit versions of the files.) At the time, I was shooting with a 20 Mpix camera. Now, I use a 50 Mpix camera, and storage is getting tight. Instead of replacing my existing internal drives, I decided to add external storage. So far, this WD Drive has been fine. It runs quiet and cool, and it is not significantly slower than my internal drives on read, and only about 50% slower on write. I’ve owned WD drives in the past and have always found them to be reliable. I’ve removed 1 star because their is no power switch.

WD has always worked wonders. Have never had a drive fail on me unless they are many years old and run 24 hous a day. The drive inside this unit is a WD Red drive meaning it is made to be left on 24 hous a day. Designed for servers. In other wordfs, built to last.

So far, so good. I'm giving the five stars as a provisional rating based mostly on ease of use and speed. Haven't had it in use long enough to know how reliable/durable it is or how well warranty service might go, but it was plug and play and suits my needs nicely.

This has been very useful when it comes to storing a lot of my games that go up to 100 gbs in size, among other things like projects, mods, and such.

I needed a drive to backup to. I don't need insane speeds or anything like that, just something to use as a secondary backup should my primary fail. I have many WD drives and all of them perform well. I have 5 WD NAS drives in my NAS, and those have performance exceptionally as well. This drive is plenty fast for what I need it for, and is an okay deal for 12TB. I like that it doesn't come with any extras, as I just wanted a drive to dump files onto. I also have an 18TB, 16TB and 14TB version of these, and they all perform well and handle the beating I give them daily. If you need a reliable, high capacity external HDD for backup or to use as a "dump disk", this is a good choice. I will update this review if there are any issues, but so far it is doing well and serving its prupose.

Excellent amout of storage space for the price! I have a lot of old family movies and pics that I need to store. I have enjoy the speed when moving data from one location to another. Again, 12 TB for the price is awesome!!!

Built a new computer, needed a place to gather all my files! This was a great deal! Lots of space, even after dumping all of my files from 30 years in IT! Still plenty of room!
