Bought it on 199 special. Tons of storage for the price and there's actually a great Enterprise HDD inside. Can be "shucked" and placed as an internal drive too. Performance is around 300mbs in/out. Maybe more, only checked once.

I purchased a WD EasyStore 10TB in March 2020 to use to store media files for my simple Plex server. It still works 5 years later. I purchased a WD EasyStore 18TB in July 2024 to move my Plex files to. It started failing around the 12 month mark and completely died in September 2025. BestBuy only can recover up to 2 TB so their data recovery service was not an option for my 10 TBs. Outside data recovery quote was $1000 if only the drive enclosure was bad or $3600 if the drive itself was the issue. BestBuy only allowed warranty return. They would not allow me to attempt to remove the drive from the enclosure to see if I the enclosure was the issue and the drive itself could be accessed using one of the internal hard drive enclosures they sell without voiding the warranty. That was the worse part of this! I do not recommend this product since BestBuy won’t try to separate the drive from enclosure to see if they can save the data and they won’t allow you to try without forfeiture of the warranty return option. It is not like they can’t see a computer won’t read the drive and can’t hear the even louder than usual clicking noise the drive made trying to spin up.

Hi Deanie, We're sorry to hear that the drive did not meet your expectations. That's certainly not the experience we aim for. We understand how frustrating that can be. If your product is still under warranty, we would like the chance to make it right. I bought this external HD as a replacement for my old 3TB HD as it is nearly at capacity. Both the 3TB and 18TB HD are from the same manufacturer and I've never had any problems with these drives. However, it would be nice if there was an on/off switch for the external HD, instead of having to unplug it during periods of severe weather. Overall, it is a good backup to have in addition to a cloud storage account with a cloud storage provider.

This is actually my second 18tb. The first one still works well and is connected to my open media vault server. I needed more space and decided to take advantage of a flash sale. I have had the best luck with western digital out of 4 drives they all still work and I have only had Seagate drives die on me. Even without the flash sale it's still a good deal at 350$.

The price was right ($249.99) so i bought 2-18TB. WD and I go WAY back. Back when they sold 1 TB drives. I average a couple of years before i retire them to the closet. I am happy to say, I have NEVER run into problems thus far. Knock on wood (My head)

this hard disk does its job without complaint. Red and Wright speeds are very good, and the reliability is excellent. I suspect that this is actually one of their server-grade drives, just put into a different enclosure.

$329 for 18 TB of space is excellent. The appearance of the drive is decent, it has a bit of noise but nothing that will bother most people and the speed is so so. Overall, very happy with purchase, and if price is taken into account, it deserves 5 stars. Have only had it for a week so I cannot speak about durability.

Easily best price for wd hd. Wd have been my go to for drives for a while now. Still have my 200 gb wd working. Seagates have never lastest me more than a few years. Can only speak for their consumer line not the ironwolf line. Seems like 10-11 dollars for 1tb is the sweet spot.

I was thinking of getting an external drive for backup purposes, and went into a Best Buy store to see out of curiosity what was available these days. I was amazed a consumer could now buy a 18TB drive, at such an affordable cost - plenty of room to last for a while, at such a good price. In fact, later today I am going to order 2 more of them online.

This WD easy store 18TB External USB storage hard drive is amazing! Plug and play. The storage capacity is out of this world a great rice to the amount of storage for the price. I have hundreds of movies downloaded on it and I am able to carry it with me wherever I go and have access to movies anywhere.

When on sale this is at a very good price per TB you get, haven't had any problems with it working properly, got to my home within two days just as it said in the order, very simple to set up. Didn't have any issues. Have bought quite a few of these over the past couple years.

The storage on these is HUGE! I use them to initiate automatic local backups of my computers on a regular basis. It's important to back them up since you can replace the device but not necessarily the data. Having backups makes it easy to restore if anything is ever damaged or lost. Price was excellent! Just plug and play!

Excellent for shucking and an excellent price per terabyte when I purchased it, much lower than bare drives. These have WD180EDGZ drives in them which are white label enterprise drives. Generally, the WD drives are easier to shuck than the Seagates and have higher quality drives in them. The drives perform as expected for platter SATA drives, just around 200 MB/s or so.

$250 for 18TB is great option for backups, archiving, TimeWarp on Mac, etc. I can switch between Windows and Mac, and have separate partitions configured and everyone is happy. ExFAT is the format that both can natively read/write, but the Windows backup disk image utility wants it to be NTFS, so I created a partition for that. I used my Macbook Air to do the partitioning, as sometime on there wanted Apple file system, but with 18TB, this wasn't a big deal. Comes with Acronis backup free version which isn't too bad at all. It is very slow though, but I run my backups overnight so doesn't cause any issues really. It gets about 300 MBps where external Samsung SSD gets around 1000 MBps compared to internal SSDs about 3-7 times that.

What can I say... TONS of storage for a fair price. Transfer speeds are good, access time from first connection is good, response time from idle is good. No issues. My only complaint is the drive is a little noisy. But since I only use it for periodic backups, noise is not an issue.
