There’s no real reason this product exists, there are cheaper ways to get a backup drive and use it with a computer, but these are convenient, dependable and reasonably priced. I bought this one to do a mega consolidation of everything I have on many different media, except for my photography

has been great so far! I had a couple of bad experiences with WD hard drives but this ones works well as a storage and working hard drive. I do keep it stationary on my desk and it does not move from that space + stays connected to my computer. will be purchasing another one soon. can't beat the price!

Have you ever had a Hard Drive you had everything on, when it just quit working? And you had no backup? How'd you feel? Well, this is my "Back-up" to my "Back-up" to my "Back-Up." I never want that to happen again. Research says WD is a good brand and the price was right.

Internal drive is a WD White Label WD80EDAZ. Many videos can be found on YouTube on how to shuck the drive and open the case. Popping the updated case open is exactly like for former version even though the exterior of the case looks a bit updated. Wait for it to go on sale and you can get a great deal.

It’s performed well, not too noisy or hot. It’s in constant operation backing up my NAS.

Was able to get this up and running easily with the included quick-start. I'm using it to backup the laptop required for all engineering freshmen at Virginia Tech - if I lost my data or work, i do have an overnight service plan, but it wouldn't restore my data. Every Wednesday night it backs up my hard drive, and now my room-mate is using it as well - there's plenty of space!

This is... I think, my 8th or 9th WD easystore drive. Of the 8TB variety, this is my 6th. These are great for back-ups and storage of large files. I shucked 4 of them and installed them into a NAS. They work great. Not a single hiccup.

I have bought a number of these and none of them have failed. The key to have reliability is to buy not all at once but at different times and from different retailers. This way you are less likely to get a bunch of faulty doa ones or worse ones that die immediately after the warranty is up.

Love this hard drive now I don't have to worry about space at all I'm using it as my backup drive for all my important things and I was able to free up two other hard drives I was using in the meantime great company great quality product.

I needed this drive for a project (a large scale database) where the drive would take quite a thrashing, continually being read and written to over the course of several days. Not only was the price right, but I normally use enterprise grade drives and I have to say, I was surprised at how well this drive managed. It managed not to get hot at all, despite the load I as subjecting it to. I've had other drives that got so hot, that they would actually burn to the touch! If your intent is to use this for the home to store movies, perform backups, or what ever occasional needs large storage needs you might have, you really can't go wrong with this drive. If you need something for work that will see moderate to heavy use, you should consider this drive as I can assure you very few applications will subject it to the load I put mine through.

I bought this drive when it came on sale giving it a low price per storage unit. I used it to create a private cloud and it works just fine for that purpose where a large capacity but not high speed is required. I am not implying here that the drive is slow, just that there are faster drives out there but their speed would not make a difference in my application.
