I did have two other backup drives however, but they are getting older and I decided it might be a good idea to update. I also plan on converting some Hi 8 video files to digital format so that I can store them on both DVD and external hard drive. This drive has the space that will allow me to store more data with 3TB. I may still need additional storage space because I have over 90 two hour Hi 8 cassettes to transfer. Everything you need is in the box including a USB cable, just plug in to a nearby outlet and connect your USB cable to your computer, provided you have enough USB inputs. If you do not have enough USB inputs you can always purchase a USB hub which plugs into one USB input and provides you with additonal USB inputs. Mine has room for 8 additional USB inputs.

Great External Drive

It replaced a Lacie drive that I was having issues with and hasn't let me down yet. I can easily move it in between computers and setup is a breeze. Pretty much just plug in the USB and you are ready to start moving files. Speed and durability have been great. I would definitely recommend this drive for your extra storage needs.

Good, easy to use backup system

If you're looking for an external hard drive to archive or back up your data, this will work perfectly. The amount of space it has is wonderful.
