TLDR (Too long, didn't read) - Works with Xbox One - Easy Set Up (COMES W/ AC ADAPTER AND USB CABLE) - Easy installation on Xbox One - Decreases loading time (This is a good thing) As most of its users know, the internal hard drive of the Xbox One cannot accommodate the yearnings of a modern gamer. In modern times, many gamers download their content directly from the respective console store. The transition from disc to digital provides the benefit of convenience. Instead of switching discs, gamers can access their entire game collection from the user interface. However, major title games, such as Call of Duty and Destiny, require about 40-50 GB of free memory. As a result, gamers are limited to which games they have available at any given time. In order to solve this dilemma, I decided to purchase the WD My Book External Hard Drive. After I received it, I was able to set up the hard drive in less than five minutes. Please note, this specific external hard drive comes with an AC adapter that must be plugged into an electrical outlet. From what I've researched, the purpose of the AC adapter is to power the fan and ease the strain on your CPU power supply unit. Once my hard drive was set up, a message popped up on my Xbox dashboard. I do not recall the exact wording, but it asks if you would like to format the external hard drive for XB1 usage. After pressing yes, I was finished. Yes, it really is that easy. All I had to was transfer all of my games from the internal to external hard drive. Easy peasy. For those of you wondering, putting games on this hard drive decreases its loading time. It's only by a few seconds, but I guess those seconds add up lol.

I bought this specifically to use it as an external storage option for my Xbox One. If you are considering this drive as an external drive for your Xbox One system, I can assure you it handles the job quite well. When I plugged the drive into an available USB 3.0 slot on the back of the Xbox One, the Xbox One immediately recognized it as an external storage device, and asked if I would like to format the drive. Formatting was very straight forward and very quick. The Xbox One OS also gives you the opportunity to name the drive, which I kept at the default "External" so you can tell internal storage from external storage. Another nice feature is that the Xbox One gives you the option to always install new content to the external drive until it is full. If you select this option, then anything that is installed from this point forward will be installed to the external drive, as long as it is connected. It's a great drive, very quiet, very quick, and I have no issues playing games off of it rather than the internal drive. Again, if you are considering this for an external storage option for your Xbox One, do it!

WD Hard Drives have always been the best

I have an older WD Hard Drive (1 TB) that I've had for over 5 years and it's still running strong, so when I needed to add extra storage to my set up for large video files, it was a no brainer to go with Western Digital. And Best Buy had the best price-per-terabyte in this 3 TB WD hard drive. Set up was a breeze and it's working great! Definitely can tell a difference between this newer USB 3.0 and my older USB 2.0 model.

I wanted more space for Xbox One but didnt want to spend a lot and also didnt want anything portable so I was ok with this using AC power. I hooked it up and had it connected to my XB1 and started moving games over to it within 3 minutes. Setup was simple and everything was easy to do. Highly Recommend these to anyone who wants extra space for their XB1. I got the 3TB version for $87

This is my first time buying a hard drive (this was for my Xbox one) and the installation was a very simple process. I am very happy with my product because it very easy to remove and copy games from internal to external hard drive and now with 3TB I never have to worry about space again. Definitely worth the price and I haven't had a single issue with it.

This was purchased for extra storage of our photos, and document files. We have a smaller capacity WD My Book for backups, but it wasn't big enough for all the extra files. This unit is easy to set up, and takes up only a small space on the desk. It works great.

    Great External HDD!

Great External HDD! Purchased for about a $100. Nice looking desktop design, not big at all, pretty portable if portability matters. 3TB's are more than enough for me and my photos and music files. Power and USB connections seem strong and tight, there is some play with the USB port, but it definitely doesn't look like it's loose or anything of that matter. Runs smooth and silent! Will definitely purchase another if need be.

I have an iMac with a 500GB HDD and i was using an external 500GB USB plug and play drive for Time Machine. Although it worked for several years, this is not an ideal configuration if you want backups that go back further than 1 year. Finally my iMac said it could not do anymore with the current HDD, it was out of space to manage the backups. A little disappointed the iMac could not delete the oldest backup, so I started looking for a new solution. The WD My Book was on sale, and WD is an excellent HDD manufacture. I don't think I ever had a HDD failure with their product. All you need to do is follow the directions, install the WD Drive Utilities, and you set to go. I formatted the drive for native Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and configured Time Machine to use the new WD My Book for backups. After Time Machine completed the backup, I formatted my old drive and use that for storing completed movie projects. After 1 month of backups, I've used 613GB out of 3TB of storage.

This product was perfect. Was used to expand the storage of an Xbox One.. Simple and fast setup. Takes up more space then the unpowered HDD but the extra TB was worth it versus the cost of the smaller units.

I bought this drive to use with a Raspberry Pi as a poor man's NAS. I was able to as a networked storage device and DLNA media server on my home network. The drive is reasonably priced and performs well.

We already had one external hard drive for backing up photos and videos but it was nearly full, so we went back to get another one. We couldn't find that exact one so we got this one. Easy to hook up and love having the extra storage space for everything.

Currently have this setup as a backup device to my WD my cloud 3 tb... much cheaper to do it this way than to purchase the 6TB My cloud MIRROR - (saved > $100). Only disadvantage to MY CLOUD MIRROR is that its not instantaenous backup (RAID 1 configuration) - backs up once a day... but still useful, sleek looking and easy to setup.

I was assisted in deciding on my purchase by 2 very knowledgeable associates. I needed a large storage device and was not concerned about the units size. My Book was the perfect choice and a great price compared to smaller units with the half the storage.
