The price for 3TB is good and competitive to other vendors. Needed more space to house iTunes library and other valuable items. No problems with the device and USB 3.0 helps transfer data faster.

At first hookup to my MacBook, my NTFS driver was reading it correctly. I was moving over nearly 2TB of files that needed to back up when "something happened." I switched over to my PC, deleted the files, started over and viola! No more problems. It's mainly plug and play but you'll still have to be a novice tech if you run into any problems. And right now, it's smooth sailing.

I had an external drive from WD-My Book before and when I bought my new laptop, I knew I would upgrade the external drive as well. Very easy to set up, and easy to set settings.

Needed additional storage for Wii-U game files. Connected the HD to the console, and easily transferred all the save-data from the Wii-U to the external HD. COPY the data to the HD first, don't MOVE it. Then, when you've checked and you're certain all the data was loaded onto the HD without error, go back and delete the data from the Wii-U. From that point forward, all games and game data will be saved to the HD. If you choose to leave the original files on the Wii-U after copying them over to the HD, those game files will not be updated with any new data, only the files on the HD will be updated.

This is a great device for just plain reliable back-up. No fancy "cloud" or difficult set up. Just simple and reliable. It also has a fairly small foot print so it sits next to my tower quite nicely.

The disk inside is a standard 3.5" WD Blue WD30EZRZ 5400rpm desktop drive. 2-year warranty is OK. Drive is plenty fast for storage/backup. Kill-a-Watt shows 7W during use, and drive reliably spins down to 0W when the sleep timer is set in WD Drive Utilities. Speaking of the software, don't bother with most of the WD stuff (other than the aforementioned Drive Utilities program for setting the sleep timer and diagnosing the disk if needed). 3rd party backup software is much better.
