I have the 3T version; Windows 7 and Linux find the full 3T without reformatting or problems. I could not load the Windows software initially; I had to delete it and download/upate again. Expected instructions from websearch, but time consuming. Drive itself works fine, useful backup storage

I purchased the My Book and had to reformat the drive to make it work with my Windows 7 Desktop. Since then it has worked great.

Love Western Digital Externals, was fortunate enough to get this while it was on sale as my old external crapped out on me.

Our son subcontracts as a filmmaker and studio musician and uses this drive for back ups but also file transfers with no issues

This device hides easily, stores a lot of pictures and videos and doesn't make noise like some other external hard drives do.

I've been using the HP SimpleSave and found it difficult to delete old backups without a lot of time. My Western Digital "My Book" is easy to use, doesn't take forever to delete old files and has lots and backup space. I was so impressed, I bought a 4 TB for my other home computer. And I got it at Best Buy for $40 less than at Fry's Electronics.

The upright design of this router allows it to fit perfectly on our computer desk. It works great with our phones and laptop.

Updates has made this a usefull product because when I first got it was hard to backup. Actually clunky would be a better way to describe the software. No problems now getting backups.

I have extensive experience with My Book external hard drives.I have only had one of many that somehow became corrupted, but I never determined if that was a defective unit. Or if it may have been jarred or bumped causing the loss of almost 3 Terabytes of data. That was my first 3 Terabyte model. I have purchased many similar units since then that worked great.

This is a value oriented product. Lots of space at a great price, USB 3 speed, I formatted it in EXFAT so I can use it with both platforms, PC and Mac. I store my hi res music on it and access speed to it is great. I will highly recommend this product for file storage.

Wd - My Book 3tb External Usb 3.0 Hard Drive - Black is the 2016 version which was why it was cheaper than the 2017. Works like a charm and BB priced matched online so that was a win. Easy to install, not as small as the pocket size drive, but compact enough to tuck away behind a monitor or in the desk drawer.

I needed 3TB for a backup drive and I noticed that prices just took another downward step. Amazon was lower than Best Buy or Newegg. But my local Best Buy matched the Amazon price. Very satisfied. External drives are great. You just plug 'em in and you're ready to copy.

I needed to back up my laptop and a thumb drive would have been to small. This external drive did the trick with ease.

Needed it to dump raw video footage from a film shoot. We needed to wipe the drive to get around the silly software, but once cleaned, out handled the files as expected.
