This backup drive was out of the box and working in 15 minutes. Very easy installation and user friendly instructions. Great peace of mind at a great price.

I love this external hard drive. I use it for my Xbox. It has tons of memory and is really easy to use.

This external hard drive was highly recommended by the salesman. I was replacing a 1 TB Seagate which had not yet failed but was older. This model was priced affordably and the 3 TB capacity will be more than enough to back up all my files. I had some difficulty getting it to perform the first back-up. I attribute this to user error because with assistance from a friend I was able to perform a back-up and all subsequent scheduled back-ups have worked flawlessly. Western Digital is known for good quality hard drives.

Have it for 2 months now, no problem. Installation of the WD soft was a breeze of course and was immediately recognized by Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17. I use it mainly to store movies and a file of 10 Gig is read without any difficulties. Istored already 2 Tera and the time of access is very good. It runs silently also. I have other WD external drives, some of them are 8 years old and they still run smoothly so I expect this one to be the same.

Easy to use and does not take up a lot of desk space. Bought three as Christmas gifts, one for each of my two kids and one for me.

This external hard drive is reliable and easy to use. I like that it has built in security, in case someone were to steal it.

Easy to set up. We have several of these and I run them for local backups. I run them for three years before replacing them and have never had an issue. They are used in a warehouse environment that is not real temperature stable and a little on the dusty side, Quick data transfer via USB. Cheap dependable security.

The WD External Hard Drive is attractive, space-saving (can be on table like an upright book), large in capacity, and quiet.

This works perfectly for my Xbox one. 3 TB gives me all the space I'll ever need. It's very easy to set up and super fast.

This is my second WD 3 TB My Book, both on less-than-a-year old Lenovo ThinkCentre's running fully updated versions of Win 7 Pro. It stores data perfectly well. That said, if you expect to simply plug it in and forget about it, think again. Somewhere in the fine print, the on-line troubleshooting directions tell you that these devices aren't meant to be left on continuously, but WD failed to incorporate an on-off switch. You control that by plugging it in when you want to use it, and unplug it when you're done. I only found that because I had to troubleshoot mine when the PC wouldn't boot with the drive attached. This is a long time, well known, well documented problem. I was able to resolve it on one of the PC's (manual BIOS modification), but after a week of on and off screwing with the second one, decided to simply leave it unplugged until I do the weekly backups. I guess it's a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless. I strongly suggest that you spend a few minutes researching boot issues before you buy one of these. Whether this is a Windows issue (which may or may not be resolved by Win 10), a WD software problem, or simply a function of the size of the drive, I don't know. I shouldn't have to know. Multi TB drives have been around for quite awhile, and you'd think a major manufacturer like Western Digital should have figured it out by now. In the "I would recommend this to a friend" checkbox below, I wish there was a "Maybe" button. I checked "Yes", but only conditionally.

This is a nice size, and the USB 3.0 makes the storage very quick and easy to use as an additional drive, not just backup.

Easy to use for either the PC or Mac user. Always found that Western Digital hard drives products to be extremely reliable.

Just in time to back up my computer and photos for the holidays. My husband and I were looking for a external hard drive for months. And missed out on a great sale a month ago on a passport external. We are completely satisfied with Best But and purchase most of our electronics with them. At the price they were offering we deffinately couldn't let this go by.

It works as promised! It was easy to plug it in and follow the pre installed software to setup extra WD features. The drive is compact & sleek as well.
