I could never get this unit to do a backup. I tried several times, even using the WD web page for help. This product would sit there for hours and never backup anything.

I bought this product six months ago and all of a sudden it stopped working! When I called they told me there was nothing they could do, I needed to replace. This hard drive has never moved and is only plugged in when I am updating and backing up! I have used like four or five times tops. This is not a quality product!

Hard to use with Apple products such as IMacs and Apple Laptops.

This external hard drive is so easy to set up and use. It came at a great price and is very quite when in use. Great amount of memory and easy to take around with me.

I have had 2 other WD external hard drives that worked great. I had to return this one it would not work.

Up and died with no warning - had to replace. was not happy with losing everything.

perhaps it is my technical incompetence, but couldn't get it to work so had to return it.

6 months. kaput. Won't format. Will not be recognized on network. dead.

Over the years, I've purchased a number of these WD My Books and they're highly reliable with plenty of disk space for all your files.

Drive went bad losing my backup. I'm not all that happy...

Didn't fit in our space, not really want we wanted.

I have using this drive with my iMac and am very happy with it. We have a total of 6 of these in our house and are using them for Time Machine backups and also for additional storage. My partner is an author and so i run multiple redundant backups on that machine, having 2 in addition to Time Machine. I am extremely happy with Western Digital hard drives and find them much more reliable compared to other manufacturers I've tried.

WD My Book external USB 3.0 hard drive looks nice for storage and is easy to use.

I had a 10 year old Seagate external hard drive that did not have sufficient space to back up Windows 10 image plus separate files. I read reviews, asked neighbors who are tech wizards. The consensus was WD because of too many failures on Seagate products. I bought the WD 3tb at Best Buy. Though there was a problem initially setting it up and downloading updates, eventually after 3 tries it succeeded. I contacted the WD tech people who were back to me within 24 hours with a solution. I backed up a windows image, separate files from flash drives, and a music library using 3 different programs with no trouble. I highly recommend the WD 3tb external drive.

Hard to get too excited about an external hard drive, of course. This one does everything I expect of it. Good speed, quiet, and looks decent in basic black. This is my second WD drive and I'm very happy with both.

A good workhorse large drive with adequate speed especially on USB 3.0 connection. I have two of this model and it is reliable as other similar models have been for me as well from WD.

The speed of data transferring is good and the capacity is also enough to store lots of data as well as huge sized one. Data backup is easy to do, though.

I thought this wouldn't work for an Xbox One since the Seagate wasn't available but I'm satisfied with this hard drive. :)

This has been an excellent choice for Time Machine backup. Formatting the hard drive for Mac OS is easy with Disk Utility.
