Bought this as an external HDD for my 500GB Xbox One. Works great! I now have a total of 3.5GB of storage!

I am using two of these drives. One is attached to my Xbox One. As others have noted, this drive works great in this role. Games load just as fast, if not a little bit faster, from this drive compared to the internal drive on the One. And, of course it is nice having the space for additional games. The second drive is attached to my Netgear Nighhawk R7000 router and used as network storage for all the PC's in the home. Does the job backing up photos, documents, and let's not forget the huge Steam games folder. Drive is nice and fast in this role. I don't stream movies from this drive, as some issues with the R7000 router and streaming are noted on the Netgear forums.

This hard drive is awesome! Easy to use, reliable, good speeds, and great price for the space.

Needed it for my xbox one. Works great and super easy to install.

Still using it til this date and it runs perfectly.

This is meant to be a basic storage/backup system, and it met my expectation.

I've purchased multiple Western Digital MyBooks. Each one has lived up to my expectations. I've never had one crash,although I recommend backing everything up at least once. This one is used to store multimedia files on a network and access them through internet capable devices (TV, DVD player, Xbox, Roku, etc). The speed and size is quick enough to keep up with the network and big enough to store tons of audio and video files.

I have a bunch of WD MyBook drives and have never had a failure. I expect this one to perform the same. Transfer speeds are great when used with a USB3 port and to be honest, I can't tell the difference between this drive and the internal drive when I'm editing photos in Photoshop or Lightroom. If you use a Mac, this drive is easy to reformat for use exclusively with a Mac.

I use this for my xbox one. All my games load faster than the internal drive. Great purchase.

Easy to use, enough space for backup that I needed

I purchased this back up about a year and a half/two years ago from Best Buy. It formated easily to my Mac, transferred files quickly and easily, and was never glitchy. BUT, today I lost power in my home office for a few minutes and after I reset the circuit and turned my computer back on, my computer would not recognize the device. My husband found it and was able to connect with it eventually but we were given warning pop-ups from my computer that the device was basically corrupt and needs to be re-formated. All of my images SEEMED to be ok but I am also receiving warning messages that the device was "removed improperly" or in mac words, unplugged without being ejected first, and that it will need to repair damaged information on the disk once re-connected. Needless to say, I will be purchasing a new, different drive today to replace it and downloading all of my files (1.9 TBs worth) from my online backup to put onto the new one. Power failures can be deadly to devices, however; I'm not willing to risk this again with this same brand. I was hoping it could have taken at least one outage without failing.

Failed to work after less than 6 months lost 2tb of data a junk drive better used as a paper weight. I hav a Seagate the same size that is almost 2 years old and a Seagate 1.5 Tb drive that is over 2 years old still works. WD customer support stated why are you going to judge our products because of one hard drive duh I informed him when I have 2 Seagates that are years old and still work and I have a WD drive that fails after less than 6 months you do the math. This is a bad product that people should be refunded when it fails instead of giving them another bad quality WD product. WD wants to give me another drive instead of a refund.I told WD why would I want to put my files back on the same hard drive that is known to fail. I will never buy WD products again. This drive to me if they send me a new one is just a paper weight.

WD always makes the best hard drives , This ones fast on usb 3.0

Excellent hard drive. Software provides capability to restore lost or damaged data files without a big hassle. Faster than most USB devices when using 3.0 drive. Seems to b very reliable. I have three of these drives with one being over three years old. Good longevity.

I'm a Youtube content creator by night and this device is perfect to store my backup videos after they've been uploaded. Each video is approx 500mb to 1gb and rather than delete each video I store it away for safe keeping on this nifty drive. The write speed is solid enough to do the job (but nowhere near my raid configuration) thought I have noticed a slight lag when playing back a file directly from the drive on occasion. No biggie. The drive gets the job done, and simply put that's all you can ask for. Thumbs up!

This is the second WD My book 3T I've purchased and it holds every one of my games from my xbox one and Xbox 360 compatible games.

I use this to backup all of my photos and music. It reads/writes quickly. The USB 3.0 is a plus. It also is easily moved to hook up to my DVD player to watch stored movies on the TV.

Was looking for a backup HD since my previous ones were full already. I was happy with the price at that time, the storage space, and speed.

Unbelievable. Have a 1230 model running. Added 2nd ext 1230 EXT HDD. Rebooted. No 2nd drive. Replugged from external HUB, then into 3.0 USB on PC. Booted. Nothing. Unplugged and swapped drives' usb cables. Old drive works, No new drive can be seen. Unplugged older 1230 drive and the new drive came up after reboot. Plugged old 1230 drive into 2.0 hub, and can't see it, before or after reboot.. Unplugged new drive and magically old drive works. Remember that these are identical drives. I unplugged ALL Drives except these two. Still only one of these drives worked. Rebooted again and back to only old drive was visible.. Repeated this several times and in different combinations with no luck... By the by, the drive that doesn't 'show up' is visible visible in WD's smartware, but SmrtWare says 'no writable partition'...I noted that when the older 1230 was not showing up, it said this, just as the new drive did when it wasn't showing up. The old one 2.5 TB accessible when it was accessible. The only conclusion is these 2 drives cannot reside on the same PC. Makes it rather useless product since every one Manufacturer can exit with others of its own kind. Time to return and look at Seagate drives from now on.

I have 200+ Xbox games stored on it with plenty of room left to store more!
