As a NAS hard drive, it works well. But the WD web-based software is rather cruddy. The Android app isn't that great either.
But, I was just looking for a NAS, and as that, it works well.

This network hard drive is excellent. Files are transferred at a fast speed, it can be accessed remotely, and it can be connected directly to the network. It comes with the software to backup and encrypt. Out of the box it is simple to use and extremely efficient. I am more than satisfied with this product.

Somewhat confusing to set up at start, but once set up it works seamlessly and is easy to use. I really like the auto-backup feature.

I was able to upload all my personal files and movies to this cloud drive with no problems. It works well with my WDTV. I'm also able to access files remotely anywhere there is internet connection. You need to go to WD website to download all of the software needed. Very user friendly and easy for a not so techie person.

Love this hard drive. I do a lot of traveling and need to be able to access my files from wherever I may be. This hard drive lets me do that. My only complaint was it was a little tricky to set up - the directions were a little confusing, but once I figured it out it I've been happy with the product ever since.

The basic premise of an external drive is to hold stuff......this one does that well. The additional WIFI connectivity is nice ......have my phone backing up pics automatically.........and that does work fine. That said, the user interface is quirky IMHO.....I think they tried to make it TOO simplistic and in the meantime made it harder to use. It just doesn't seem like it flows the way it should, to me, and its frustrating. Still have not been able to get it to play nice with windows explorer.....have to use the special interface to access stuff and that makes it clunky. That said, maybe its me? Still i would recommend it, with that caveat.

This is a easy to install unit. Great for someone who wants to start using cloud storage, but is still uneasy with off-site clouds.

Interfacing the WD My Cloud 4TB External Hard Drive (NAS) to my system was simply a plug and play effort making it easy to use even by the least technically knowledgeable user. Highly recommend this device for any type of storage requirements.

I like the feetures of the MyCloud device, but I was there was faster access via Gigabit Ethernet. Would be nice if you could wireless connect this to your router, but that would also slow down it's speed. It also states that it's dropbox compatible, but it would be nice if there was a way for it to do a standalone sync, especially for folks using smaller SSD drives and having 1TB or larger Dropbox plans.

It is complicated to install and to use --- at least for someone of my technical abilities. However, it is convenient for computer and camera storage. I'm glad I bought it.

Was previously using an external USB enclosure with "old" 400GB hard drives, but kept filling them up. Decided to finally buy one large storage solution and picked up this WD 4TB drive. Especially like that it's available on the network versus being a drive hanging off another computer. Best decision ever.

I was looking for a hard drive that I could connect to my home network that the family could easily access. This was done easily with this hard drive. Now the kids can watch whatever movies they want on their phones or tablets and they do not bother me to add music to their phones. They can do it all themselves now. All I had to do was connect the hard drive move the files over and that was it. Couldn't have been any easier.

Bought this unit as a secondary backup system. We do daily backups to one NAS and weekly backups to this NAS. So far, no complaints. Easy to set up and seems pretty stable.

Easy to set up super easy to use. Web configuration makes sure install is current. Easily set up PC backups for devices on my network. set up folders and copied portable hard drive archive to folders. Everything is fast and easy. didn't seem to like copying folders to different locations on the cloud drive. stalled each time i tried to do it.
comes with WD premium system backup software. download and authentication was easy.
mobile app works great for viewing files.

If your looking for an easy way to setup network attached storage, My Cloud fits the bill. It was very easy to setup, and is a convenient way to backup files and stream content to various connected devices. With 4 TB of available storage, I expect it will take quite some time before we will need to consider adding any capacity. My only criticism is that it requires separate software (WD Smartware) to facilitate the file backup process. A Smartware license is included, but it seems like this feature could have been integrated into the My Cloud dashboard.
