    One huge vault

This drive is excellent if you want to just have a huge archive for many computers to share. I have used 2 TB so far, and have realized one of the greatest benefits is not only the massive storage and broad accessibility, but also the cross-platform compatibility. Transferring files larger than 4 GB from my Mac to my Windows PC used to be a real pain since the only file system they can both read (FAT) cannot support files that large. Now I just put them on the MyCloud and then then download them to the other computer as needed. So easy. Also, it took some time, but I used HandBrake to rip every one of my DVDs to MP4 and now I have them backed up on the MyCloud to watch at any time from either computer or any streaming device in my house.

This was easy to set up out of the box and wireless access from all devices is great. Speed is slightly slower than I expected but not bad.

This drive is amazing and the app lets you access your other cloud services too, like DropBox and OneDrive! Let's me access my files anywhere I have a cell/internet connection, and now I can stream my music to my Control4 home automation system much easier.

We are still enjoying this product. It is something that everyone should look into purchasing. You can access it from outside the home that way you never have to worry about losing pictures or files. It is easy to set up and the directions were helpful.

My client needed more storage, he also wanted it on a cloud base unit. I installed it and showed him how easy the WD NAS works.

This product I'm sure will be more rewarding for the more technically inclines. I use it to backup pictures & video from my cell phones via WiFi and my desktop via a third party program. Files are accessible from anywhere (must be in the same network to do backup via wifi). WD has video tutorials for those that are not so IT inclined. I wish i had the time to figure it all out, or the budget for an IT guy to do it for me... overall, i would recommend this product

Great alternative to online cloud services

I bought this item to ensure that I could keep my data secure at a location of my choosing. Plus I felt that it would be more secure than allowing a third party to have access to my files. It takes a little bit of work to get it set up as it's a little confusing since there are online accounts which are different than local accounts, but if you're moderately computer skilled, it shouldn't be a problem. It's probably not a great device for pure beginners.

I have always looked to Western Digital for my backup systems because of their demonstrated reliability and ease of operation. This 4 terabyte unit is adequate for backup purposes for all computer systems that I presently own. I prefer a personal backup system over iCloud because it is within my local control.

If you've got more media than your local machine storage can handle, these things are the greatest. They are extremely low maintenance, power miserly and last a LONG time. I still have some WD NAS devices that I bought 4 years ago and they are still running like tops. With each new generation these get faster and faster and able to store more for less money per TB. They are ideal for storing video libraries and have the ability to stream HD video without any problem. The only real issue you'll run into is video organization, but that is not hte problem of the NAS drive, rather a problem of existent software that makes us of it.

This is a great product but it is complicated to set up unless you are an expert with computers. I thought I had it all set up and when I came back from a vacation but I lost my phone, i found that nothing was saved so I had done it wrong. My advice would be get somebody who knows computers well to set everything up for you to make sure its done right unless you do know what you're doing otherwise it is an excellent product and I would recommend it

Put all my phone pics and my wife's phone pics on here freed up my phones memory. It is a lot easier to transfer to a laptop first then rename your photos and then put them in separate folders to make them easier to find when you access from phone or ipad. Have not been able to figure out to transfer photos, instead of copy photo, straight from phone. I don't need two copies. Access from the app is simple but takes about 5 to 10 secs to start uploading previews.

Bottom line it works, the interface is not the best , but you can use it locally and remotely. It backs up Apple devices, and can be identified as a back up source for Windows I use it for music and video storage and as the source for both on my network You get this and your done

I had transferred all my videos from the past 20 years to a drive, but never really used it because it was always a hassle to hookup and watch them on my computer. Just bought this drive on a whim and it's awesome. Now we can watch any of our videos from anywhere. Very simple to use and setup, the iOS app is easy to use. Now my family can watch the videos anytime on their computers, iPads, iPhones, and share them with the rest of the family.

I bought 2 of these. One 4 TB and the other 2 TB. For a small office I work with and the other for personal use. They were easy to set up and with good network you can access your files at a descent speed - remotely or locally. So far I have encountered no issues with either of them. In my case, they meet all my needs. Stored in the basement some where, I have access to files that I don't carry around all the time and back ups to me various devises.

I purchased this during a model closeout. Had to complete multiple firmware updates prior to deployment. Windows machines were cumbersome to setup and begin backing up reliably as you must use the legacy WD website/dashboard. iMac setup using Time Machine took no time at all and had no issues. Email alerting within the device management console is very nice for outages/firmware updates/drive issues.

I bought MyCloud to use on a home network where we can, on network, use files, music, video and pictures. I bought the 4 TB version to make sure we don't run out of space anytime soon. I have no networking knowledge and the tech support walked me through the process with no problems.
