I bought one of these for my office to connect 3 computers and be able to take work home without taking my computer. This is super easy to install and quick to access!! I LOVE the ability to bring work home without bringing my computer each night!!

I'll start by saying I work in the tech industry and am very familiar with networking equipment. I purchased this device for mobile backup/ viewing my stored data remotely. After multiple hours of setup, and additional 2 hours with tech support and learning that the device was defective...I returned the device for the Seagate Personal Cloud...complete win over the WD version. This device was not at all user friendly. It would walk you to "a step" then crash. I'm sure having a defective unit did not help with my experience, but believe me when I say there are better units out there. I switched to the Seagate and no regrets. I spent half an afternoon with this device and wasted my time. Glad Best Buy had a great return policy.

Independent of paid cloud technology. Great device for people that are independent.

Does exactly what I wanted it to do. I have access to all my files/photos, anywhere.

Good as a private cloud to backup all pics and videos on your smartphones. Interface has to improve to male easier to find pics.

The installation was a breeze! The price makes it the best value for Cloud storage. My family enjoys the file sharing the most! Great product!

4 TB of external hard drive is good enough for our family to store all our stuff in personal cloud. Happy with purchase.

I'm a technically savvy guy and I have a lot of personal experience using external drives, networking computers, blah blah blah. I've owned and used this drive for the past six months. It worked fine, hosting all my digital photos, home movies, etc., making them available throughout the home and available online, just as advertised. Then, a few days ago, I realized I couldn't access the drive from my computers. I tried the mobile app and had the same problem. I did all the usual network troubleshooting to no avail. I unplugged the power to the drive, waited a while, and plugged it back in. The drive was available on my network again! But after a few minutes it disconnected again. I received a warning from WD that the drive had some kind of error and that I should back up my data and reset the drive and start over. I'd do that, except I can't back up the drive because it disconnects after a few minutes and I must then unplug and plug in the drive. At this rate I could copy a handful of files at a time over the next few weeks, maybe. Fortunately I keep backups! There's no way to connect this directly to a computer like a typical external USB drive, either. I'm glad I had the foresight to buy Geek Squad protection because I'm taking the drive back today! WD isn't the company it used to be. Hard drives used to last for years. Now they last A year, if we're lucky. In this case? Six months!

Very easy and quick to setup. I was hoping to store my digital copies of movies but I discovered you don't download them.

My husband was bery excited to recieve this gift. Definitely would recommend!

Great product to have if you're interested in creating a NAS in your business/home.

Bought this unit to replace an aging 3TB unit. Web interface is easy to use and configure. I have had no problems with the unit except for the IP Address setting. No matter what I try, I cannot specify a static address for the unit. When I do, it just goes unresponsive after its reboot, and I have to factory reset it to get it working again. I had to let it pick an address via DHCP, and then set my router to lock that address for the unit. Otherwise, I've had no problems with it.

Easy to setup, good transfer rates, plenty of capacity, well worth the price.

now I can watch my movies all over the place if you need it I would say buy it

I love the NAS functionality and scalability of those device. I just wish their software allowed better file access remotely. Setup was a bit screwy. The device went unresponsive, and thus far, I don't see a scheduled backup option.

This external hard drive has been great. It was easy to set up, and we've been able to connect 4 computers and 2 phones to it with out problem. It's great to have something that we don't have to be connected to with wires to save our important documents.

I love to stream movies to my tablet I've downloaded from the internet. I store them on this device & then watch from anywhere in my house or anywhere that has a wifi connection. These are some of my favorite storage units...I have 4 of them
