Great home cloud.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased for all of our devices to store the pictures we all take. Very simple set up and for a personally owned cloud device it is easy to use.

Excellent for Personal Cloud Storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I gave it a 4 Star rating, I found this product very useful. Now, I not only have Google Drive with 1.1 TB of cloud storage, I have made a back up of it just in case. on my WD Personal Cloud at home. Set up was a little difficult at first but once I got the hang of it and how it works, it is perfect for my needs and my household needs.

Its ok if you dont want to expand
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works good for streaming media to all my devices at home. Was a bit disappointed to find that when you connect a second wd drive to it, it doesn't make the whole drive bigger like wd's website suggests it just let's you access the second drive wirelessly as well. This is problematic if you want a seem less browsing experience with your media player.

Works well and easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good alternative to an external hard drive. With multiple users in our household, this device gives us the flexibility to store pictures and music from anywhere. Although the setup instructions were not great, once it was operational the system works great.

Nice Backup Medium for Sharing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup, easy to use. Works well for sharing data with others on your network. Only negative is trying to use it when traveling and your network stops working at home. This would be the only negative that I see so far. I will know more about the network problem when I return home. It may have nothing to do with the unit.

Devil in the details
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comparing yearly fees to backup to the cloud versus buying this and using it as my cloud, I decided on this option. While external websites give you the peace of mind of all of your data being stored off-site, I backed up my hard drive to another hard drive and have the second stored in my safe. Problem solved. I have both my cell phone and my girlfriend's cell phone and both of our laptops backed up to the hard drive. It takes some playing with the settings to get everything set up, but if you're tech savvy, this hard drive is worth it

Stores All My Files
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty awesome because it stores all my files somewhere other than my laptop. So when I get upset because my fantasy football team sucks and I go for the laptop throw, I don't have to worry about losing all my movies and music and pictures and stuff. Only problem is that it doesn't work with Plex, but that's for Plex to fix.

So far so good, but one annoyance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks good so far. Accessing the My Cloud device was straight forward and setting up user accounts and share folders seemed uncomplicated. But then I tried to access folders via File Explorer and kept on getting an error message every time I tried. I tried customer support and they were very slow to respond. I ended up downloading and installing the WD My Cloud Desktop application. After accessing the drive through that app, I closed it, rebooted, and lo and behold I was able to access the drive via File Explorer. So I'm happy now, but why was this necessary? It was a time waster. I haven't played with the WD Sync or smartware programs because I use another program for syncing so I can't speak to those. I'm tempted to try tho. I have used the phone app for both an iPhone and Android and it works pretty well. And remote desktop connection seems to work fine too. So I take off a star for the issue I had installing. But right now, seems a lot better than my old Seagate Central which died just over about a month after the warranty expired (I asked them to honor it, but they would not).

Great Storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had other cloud products before. I wanted this to store my music connection and documents I might need elsewhere. Also I have dropbox, sky drive, whala....i just wanted something I control on my own and not have to pay a monthly/yearly, fee for additional storage. When I fill this, I'll just add another. That part work good. However, the access part anywhere also works good but sometimes I noticed I had to physically rest my hard drive, so if away this won't work. Right now it is working flawless for several weeks so maybe the latest update they pushed fixed my problem.

Great nas
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a very useful device. I have a lot of movies, music and other media in digital format. I was able to access all of it from my high speed connections while traveling as well as home. One update I would love to see is s better search option.

Must Have!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't rely on electronic clouds that you cannot control! This is a personal cloud that you control. If you delete something; It is gone. You also don't have to wonder if someone else has access. It will notify you of any connection errors. You can also unplug it if you feel the urge. Try that with apple or google. With the right equipment, settings and ISP, it is fast enough to stream HD video without buffering or worrying about security. I use Time Warner - 200 Mbps with phone and TV only $60 / month.

I love this thing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the drive was easy to install and i connected all my devices to it. I can back up my computer using time machine, automatically upload pictures from my phone when get home, and i connect my kids to it and added a private folder for them. I think this a great drive and believe it is worth every penny. the only downside i can see is that the drives air vent is on the top which will cause it collect dust faster.

Easy Set Up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The two terabyte worked great as a music server so I bought the four terabyte version to use as a video server. Both were easy to get up and going, but the the initial Twonky Media server settings tend to be less than ideal for videos. Once I found an article on the WD site everything worked great.

having trouble uploading backup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.easy to install on computers/phones. having trouble getting it to pickup the backup. haven't had opportunity to work w/ WD to resolve issue. Feel more comfortable having backup in hand rather some undefined cloud. Will handle Windows 10.

Easy Network Attached Storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not very long ago sharing files across the Internet required high level geek skills knowing things like FTP, DHCP and port forwarding. Today there are many cloud storage options but they come with a monthly or annual cost and have limitations. MyCloud is simple to set up and get running and gives me access to my movies, music, pictures and documents anywhere I have access to the Internet. MyCloud even let's me access these files with my SmartTV. A great product at a reasonable price.
