I purchased the external storage device (NAS) listed above due to its large capability of holding data and more specifically for its ability to have redundant drives. I never had to back up any files. It backs them up in real time and I always have 2 complete copies of all my files. Should one drive fail, I have the 2nd drive that has the exact information. I also have the ability to access my files remotely, which I absolutely love. To date, I haven't had any problems with this drive. It was easy to set up and tech support was wonderful at helping and answering all of my questions.

I bought this RAID to use as my PLEX media server. It does that very well and comes with the PLEX software download on the drive. Very nice and easy to set up. It self backs up and that is what I wanted. I'm happy. I can see where I will need bigger drives in the future and they thought of that too. You can add drives through USB or switch out the drives for bigger ones in the future. It has a lot of software downloads for any application you could want to use. I also am backing up my photos and love how easy that has been.

This is the 3rd successive generation of mycloud NAS storage devices ive had. They all work amazing. Only negative is they ended support on the last device. Definitely recommend. Easier to use than synology.

Generally pretty happy with this so far. The software is kind of limiting. If you can just work with the drive on its own merits (i e., SSH in to do things like unzipping big archives, connect directly to your LAN) instead of having to use the MyCloud client software, you'll be in good shape. The web admin console is nice enough and affords you the flexibility to use the drive in this way.

I recently picked up the WD My Cloud Expert EX2 Ultra 8TB NAS from Best Buy, and I must say, it's been a game changer for my home network setup. The dual-bay configuration offers a nice redundancy setup, and the 8TB capacity is more than sufficient for my media collection and backups. The device itself has a sleek design that fits well with my other gadgets, and its user interface is intuitive, making setup and management a breeze. The data transfer speeds are commendable, ensuring I can access my files quickly, no matter where I am. All in all, a solid investment for those looking to upgrade their storage solutions.

8 TB is really 4TB's when mirrored

Bought this to replace a MyCloud that was 3+ years old that the hard drive was failing. I like this one, since it has two drives. I set them up a mirrored and can swap them so if I have another drive fail, I’m hopeful I’ll be okay. I read revies that had issues setting up. Mine was straight forward. No issues. I do not like that I cannot create “map a network drive…” to the entire drive, only to each main folder (and subs). Not sure if that is a MyCloud issue or Windows 10. Each time to access all the folders I have to type my drive name. Not that big a deal, but it would be nice to map the entire drive folder system, so I can pick the folder I want without having to type the MyCloud name. Would recommend to a friend to purchase, if you want to back up your computer and access file off site.

The device is quick and easy to setup and configure. The performance is what surprises me the most, the I am able to upload and download content from multiple end points at the same time in a reasonable amount of time. The device is also reasonably quiet. The only recommendation I would give is, I wish more vendors offered the option to turn off the status LED lights.

The product works well as described overall. However, the on-board software is quite outdated and buggy. For example, the product registration form does not work and I've been inconvenienced in multiple other ways. Consider another product if you value your time.

As of this date its been six week using My Cloud EX2 Ultra 8TB network drive. Overall, it seems to operate to my satisfaction to the extent I don't need to return it to Best Buy. I run it in RAID 1 configuration, so all data is backed up. There are a few issues that annoyed me however. It often sents me a critical warning that the fan is not working. The third party anti-virus app does not seem to work. In time, I will know how well if performs.

I have a a smaller MyCloud backup but needed something larger. This device satisfies that need and was easy to setup. It runs fast and provides the capacity for my 2 large workstation, 2 laptops, and mobile devices. The disk mirroring provides me higher level comfort from device failure.

I needed this NAS to back up my data. You can use two configurations. One of 8 TBs using all the HHDD space or 4 TBs as a RAID 1. It already comes with two drives.

The drive works great with a PC. Just copy and paste or drag and drop file to the NAS drive. Lacks an easy way to move files from an Android phone to the NAS. Pictures and videos are automatically backed up. Including other types of files and documents would be a great addition to the functionality of the software.
