I am very pleased with the ease of set up and operation of the Personal Cloud Storage. Western Digital makes a good product for home file sharing and collaboration. Capacity of the drive will store what we need to share for years to come.

I’m very happy with this NAS device. The performance and reliability is far superior to my previous device. I love that I can share pictures to remote friends and family. The IOS app could use some updating but overall it’s functional.

I haven’t had it long enough to know exactly how to use it but learning fast. Good purchase. 1080p video stuffers on playback using mid tear fiber optic plan. I don’t know if faster internet will fix the problem or not.

Had a 4 TB EX2 since March 2014 with great performance and results and excellent WD customer support. Ultra version exceeds the 2014 version in almost every aspect on my local network, and personal Cloud access on Samsung Android devices, as well as Samsung Smart TVs, Denon and Marantz devices on our local Neatgear Nighthawk 3200 network.

Easy to use. Great option for PLEX servers and to backup pictures. Once you get used to the process it's as simple as using Google Drive.

Occasionally you buy a drive that seems to malfunction sooner than expected, but so far I've had no problems with this one. It is quiet. It is recognized every time I access it. Having it automatically back-up the first drive to its own second drive is why I use it, and it does that well. No complaints.

This NAS is straight forward with ease of setup. Anyone can install this on their own WiFi network and/or internet connection. Great place to store photos, movies and documents to free up space on your other devices. It a personal cloud that you own. This one has two mirrored hard drives with data encryption.

Wanted to love this thing, here were my issues. Low transfer rates for upload and downloads. Constantly felt like I was being hacked, my xfinity was always blocking access from unknown threats or something wild. And it just seemed clunky. I ended up with a different NAS system

Great external hard drive. I was able to set up a network storage system for my home. Storage is also available through the WD website. I haven’t fully explored all the apps but it’s been good so far.

This is a pretty good product, but you expect that from WD. A slight problem mapping it from one machine but no problem from another. Not sure why. Overall though it has been stable and straight forward to use.

Easy to set up and great knowing that my photo's are saved on two separate hard drives so I have a back up incase one crashes. Love the fact I can upload photos from my camera to the drive no matter where I am.

Works as expected. My old My Cloud drive (which was outdated) came with some really nice (free!) backup software that this one did not. But I'm using Windows Backup, so its good enough. Its a bit noisy, so keep that in mind

The setup of this NAS was extremely easy by just following the simple online directions. Connect the NAS via ethernet and a few clicks of the mouse and done. Operation is very quiet, I never notice it even when everything else in the room is off.
So far seems to be Apple compatible.

My first foray into NAS device, but feeling good about the leap. Works flawlessly, just make sure to reserve address for it on your router/modem settings so portal path doesn't change. Great feature I really like is you can expand by connecting external HDD or SSD to it. Only extra thing would be to be able to see external USB connected HDD smart info like temp in the Disk Status page on device portal.
Have another 4TB My book connected to one expansion back USB port and planning to add another to make 16TB NAS total. Great device considering everything though!

An HP tech put me on the path to storing my large number of photos on a NAS. He recommended a different brand, but since I already had a WD MY BOOK I stayed with WD. I read a lot of reviews and recommendations before finalizing my decision and opting for the WD. In the process I learned the value and advantage of a 2-bay system. The price was great compared to other NAS options and I chose the 8TB EX2 ULTRA.
In all honesty the first one died in 4 days. The second one has some idiosyncrasies which I had to understand and get used to, namely it gets "tired" when uploading many large files. Rebooting solves that problem. I also initially misunderstood that it really is only for storage. It is complicated to "share" anything on the ULTRA with anyone else: they cannot print what you are sending.
The main reason I bought an NAS was because the huge number of photos had nearly used up my computer space.
Since I cannot readily access a photo or document to reprint it or send it I downloaded everything to DVDs, carefully itemizing the contents of the DVD.
I chose not to sync everything, since I was deleting the saved photos from my computer to gain space. You can only sync what remains on the computer. In spite of the "shortcomings" for my purpose, I really love the ULTRA. It is incredibly fast and quiet.
