Maybe I got a bad one... but the new feature set seems to require a WD online account to set up the device. I didn't want a WD account, but the old ability to browse into the unit did not work.... and the WD webpage seems to indicate they have made an upgrade of some sorts. I really wanted to browse to it's internal page, change the IP to static, create some restricted shares, and turn off the cloud feature. Didn't seem possible. I could connect and somewhat configure it via the WD online page, but no choices like IP address, just create users and shares that seem to be shared by a web link instead of my old way of \\192.168.1.xx\sharename which makes it useless for what I wanted... an application that automatically saves to a network location... but doesn't like a web address. So either I just got a bad one, or WD made the whole experience so easy... it's now useless. (i'm leaning toward the latter) To clarify, it does seem to work if you login in to the WD website, and upload your data through the web page, but I did not see a choice to copy data to the unit otherwise. Taking it back, and hoping Seagate hasn't made their version just as useless...err I mean easy.

I set this up on a home network so the family can share files ad save backups in one location. It works great and is easier to deal with than setting up a network computer to be used for a file sharing server. Plus you can access this when away from home easily too.

This is a reasonably priced home cloud which is the center for my network data storage. I did have it installed for me based on some other evaluations I read but it went in easily and is working. It has more capacity that I may need in the end which makes it a perfect home system.

Very easy to use. I can access it anywhere anytime. It’s a folder on my desktop. It’s available on my phone in an app. No complaints so far. As far as I can tell this is gonna hold all my needs for several years. If you can, get the 4TB. Better to have the space than need the space.

The WD NAS is very simple easy to set up and use, and it works flawlessly without any hiccups. The versatility is very convenience, access the storage from anywhere on any devices and have multiple options to back up your files. For Mac users, one huge advantage WD Home Cloud has is support for Time Machine backup. But Home Cloud still needs improvements and needs to have an online portal.

Great for Home storage activities. Software was easy to install as well. Did have an issue installing the Plex plugin. Eventually it worked and everything was fine.

Lots of storage for the money. Easy set up for both network and remote access. The wife and I both use a sync folder for all of our important files so we can know the backup is done without a need to run additional programs.

It's a whole lot better than paying monthly fees for cloud storage. The My Home Cloud has fewer features than the My Cloud it don't have an interface and can only be accessed thru web page and thru Windows Explorer and it don't work with the My Cloud desktop App. It's a lower priced version of the My Cloud but it's nice in it's own way. You can though add a second user and that second user will get whatever space is available on the device. Nether user can see the other users files even though both are using the same device both users will have to share a link with the other and multiple users can share any file that they got access to. The higher end My Clouds have more settings thru interfaces and users can set access limitations but the My Cloud Home is limited.

Works well to store files in cloud for easy access. PLEX app is great for music, videos and photos and pairs well with MY CLOUD. App is easy to use and setup was a breeze.

We needed something with a lot of memory for work, so far this is working very nicely.

Setup was easy, and there were no “arguments” with it. I just followed the directions and it came right up. The only flaw I can find is: I’d like to give this a different name, but, WD, in their wisdom, doesn’t allow for this.

Pro: Easy set-up. Things got backed up in decent time. Con: Not very intuitive for details. Can't figure out how to (if you can) sort back-up files (date, alpha, size, etc.). Thought the PC access would be more "robust." But, it's about the same as the phone app. There are WD helps on-line, but not for the novice person.

My first experience was the appearance of the product it looked sleek and durable along with the appeal of a commercial product. With the easy included installation instructions found the product easy to install with the included cables and accessories. The product was easy to link between all of our devices and it keeps all connected devices synced up via over internet. Recommend to anyone with the desire to have stored data closer to home.

It was easy to set up Took a long time to transfer photos and videos on 1st run, after that pics going in smoothly, but I’m guessing because it’s only a few photos at a time
