A well performing NAS
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this device to use as a backup drive, however found that the WD Backup software that is availble, is not supported to this device. This device is well suited if you have a few mobile devices and want to share pictures backed up on the device, then shared. You could consider apple icloud, but you need to consider how much storage you get. This device is 4TB of storage, which might be best for you depending on how many photo or video files you want to backup and share.

Exactly what I was looking for!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for an at-home cloud device that can store all your files AND be accessed by multiple devices including a smartphone, this is your answer. I don't have to pay for extra cloud storage (monthly / annually) because now I have my own. Super capacity. Easy set up. Online help / documentation easy to access and follow. Exactly as the tech guys (well gal in my case...) described.

Good for personal data storage and access
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a Networked Attached Storage device for my startup company's first project. This device was immediately available at the local BestBuy and was inexpensive as far as NAS devices go. It was also easy to setup and implement. Although it allowed multiple users to access common data files across the local area network, it was not designed for this purpose and ran very slow. I gave it 5 stars for it's use for personal storage, but 2 stars for business storage requiring access by more than one person and/or for hosting Office working files.

Not what i expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vwry dissapointed in this. Wd stopped the my book live version of this , So, I decided to try this. Its great for having a place to backup to, but you cannot use this like a nas anymore, and the software wont even allow me to backup my nas onto this device without literally copy and pasteing just to move files. I was looking to just get a bigger drive vs my 2tb i have currently and this is a disappointment.

Nice Netwok Storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was easy to set up and the My Cloud gives all devices access to the drive in either a shared folder or separate accounts. Not perfect but great home storage for multi-device household.

Wish'd it met my needs..then it broke.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 objectives with this purchase: 1. Store all my MP3's and then stream them to my phone via some 3rd party ap - full fail. It basically can't be done. 2. Use it as a cloud drive to store music projects so I could record from PC in the studio, then work on the file from else where via laptop (using the exact same programs) - full fail. I was able to get the PC side working but couldn't get the laptop side to even recognize the drive. Tried all suggestions. 3. Create folders that would allow me to share files with other musicians, granting them rights to download and upload in exchange. Essentially non-realtime music collaboration. I was able to achieve this from my side but wasn't able to test an upload from my counterpart because he lags. Unfortunately, this badboy is super difficult to get working properly, but worse, it died within two months. The hard drive stopped spinning, according to WD help site, and the unit is dead. Thankfully I have multiple backups and didn't go straight to the mycloud exclusively. My advice, don't buy it. If you do, have another physical hard drive that you use as a double backup...don't trust the MyCloud as your only source of data storage. Wish I'd just spend the money on an awesome USB stick.

our in home data storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to install and use. multiple devices are able to connect at the same time. only downside is the app used for this device does not have many filtering and sorting options with the initial upload of data.

Good system for backing up your devices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fairly easy to use. I have apple products and it’s clear geared more for PC products but still has worked well. I use for my Time Machine back up and as a Dropbox redundancy.

Great Home Use Personal Cloud
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use and Set up. Able to back up all my photos on my phone with their app and back up my PC using Norton 365 to the My Cloud. You can have a private partition only viewable to you or you can use the public partition so everyone on the network can share data. I would totally recommend for home personal use. If you need more business solution you might want to check WD higher end cloud products.

Helpful drive to say the least.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great purchase. I got this for my parents who obviously take tons of pictures for every occasion. What made me purchase this was that we could view the contents of the drive from anywhere. So rather than carrying sd cards around we could just go to the site for the drive and show out of town family or friends all the recent pics that were take.

Nice product, would like greater admin control.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up. Using on iPhone app and Windows desktop app. Easy to set up file folders (using for documents). Can add users with edit functions, send invitations for view only users, and invitations for collaboration. Control over authorizations limited. Would give 5-star rating if better administrative functions. Still, a good product.

Great Addition to the house
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive is one of the most useful pieces of tech I've added to my household. I'm able to back up my entire photo library from my smartphone, add many movies and songs, and still have room to add multiple users to access and store their own data. If you have limited storage on any of your devices, this could be the only thing you would ever need (besides an internet connection). The only draw back is that the speed of which files can be transferred in or out, is limited to your router's speed, and the actual speed of the hard drive in the My Cloud.

WD MyCloud Home 4TB Review.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good value for the money. Not a top end storage device, but it gets the job done and does what it should do. I definitely recommend for it's easy of use for those who are not as computer savvy.

Easy to set up, accessible anywhere
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this hard drive! Setup is simple and uncomplicated, access is a breeze whether I'm connected to my home wifi network or accessing through the app. I am able to access files through my mobile device, my laptop, or even remotely via a public computer with no issues, no matter what network I'm connected to. As the price of storage continues to drop, I'll be sticking with the WD MyCloud family as my choice in NAS drives.

Just what ive always wanted
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been considering an external drive for over a year. I wanted this network drive but the price was higher than i preferred. It went on sale and was perfectly priced. Now i have a massive storage capacity drive and can access the drive from anywhere on my phone.

Cloud storage to the rescue.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this item for my father. He has had issues with misplacing and destroying flash drives. This cloud storage made it easier for him to find his information. It is an easy setup. Once up and running, his information was at his fingertips. No longer needed to search for drives. Great buy. I'm thinking about getting on for myself.

Works pretty good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this personal storage for a few reasons: 1) It had the Plex app already loaded and ready to activate 2) It has 4TB of storage... enough to last a long while (in my situation) So far, I've been disappointed that the Plex app has NO WAY to upgrade to the latest software. Maybe not the fault of WD, but still not what I had hoped for. The storage capacity and speed works well for me. I'm able to access my files quickly and efficiently. Overall, I'm happy with the unit.
