My Cloud Home
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a long time user of the original "My Cloud" When I received an e mail from WD they were no longer supporting the WD My Cloud which used OS3. So it was time for an update. I purchased the "My cloud Home". Great decision. The new interface is much better and faster. It has larger storage capacity. The android app doesn't keep crashing like the old app did. The drive is completely silent. The My Cloud was good but the My Cloud Home is much better.

Good product within the price range
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With this price tag it's a good product to have. Setup is quite simple and the transfer speed is also good when you have good internet connectivity. Only problem that I see with the drive so far is with the software, the iOS app is not good even for simple operations like setting up the file permissions etc. But overall a nice product to own.

Don't buy!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to replace a WD My Cloud since support was discontinued on that device. Well a few months after purchasing this support ended for all WD software. Then all of my folders disappeared. This is a known issue as the WD forums proved. You have to clear all settings once a day and redo local access to gain local access again. Don't even try to map it as a folder. It will not be there in a few hours. Since WD discontinued it's software support you need 3rd party software to backup but it will only work once if your lucky then the folders will disappear again. I own a bunch of WD backups but this is by far the WORST and waste of my money and time. I am looking for something that works but this is nuts. WD Support is useless as they tell me to do the same thing over and over. I will never buy a WD device again. I lost all hope in them. 100% Junk.

Greatest storage for families
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Cloud home is a great product. I bought it for my family. I wanted all of us to have plenty storage and not bog our phones down so much. Not only is it easy to use it gives me more storage I can pay a one time fee for instead of reoccurring monthly fees.

Extremely Disappointing!!!!!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used WD storage products for over 20 years now and this is the first one I am completely disappointed in. Let me start by saying that it seems to function exactly as it is designed--but that is part of the problem--poor design. The majority of the problem lies in the front end user software. The apps for the iPhone/iPad are acceptable, but the software for accessing the device from an MacOS or Windows environment leave a lot to be desired. It is insanely difficult, and in most cases impossible, to do any kind of trouble shooting on this device. There isn't even a way to access what was formerly called the "dashboard" on older WD NAS devices. Additionally, if you are in a situation where you have information stored on the device and you have physical access to the device but have no network and/or internet you cannot access your data. This is a terrible design flaw. Also, when you are first setting up the device and you have a large amount of data to front load onto the device from your computer or a former large storage device, the majority of the time you have to do the entire transaction through the network/internet because the USB port does not readily recognize many mass storage devices from other manufacturers. I can go on about further problems once you need to access the data on the device later--this too is a very slow and tedious process but I'll digress. In short I would NEVER purchase this device unless the only things you are looking for is a way to back up photos/files from a mobile device while on the go but don't need to manipulate or access the data frequently for work. This is truly a NAS for a person with no technical ability and who has very low end data storage needs.

a Must have for every house
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.very easy setup, took me less than 15 minutes. I had my desktop, laptop and all our phones back up their content onto this and it still says >90% memory is free dependable so far and id did not slow down my interest connection as I had feared.

Loss of functionality with newer drives
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this device is very easy to setup, I do not like that it has less control and functionality that the previous generation. The App that you use to manage the device is extremely limited. In some regard, if their desire was to make this so easy my grandma could use it, they succeeded. However, I would prefer to be able to take some greater control in the settings like the previous generation drives allowed. Unless they make some significant updates in the coming weeks, I will likely return this for another older model drive.

My Cloud external drive
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple setup. Used easily to access home photos on the go. Did notice though that it was making some noise while not in use. I unplug it when I’m at home and it’s not in use.

Great hard drive but why Plex
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an older WD NAS and loved it. Needed a new one and went this route. Whole the ease of using from a computer is great trying to stream from my Samsung TV is daunting. So far I am not a fan of Plex. Wish there was another way to view my storage on the TV without the Plex app.

Decent amount of storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at several different options for expanding the storage for my computer, and making it accessible to everyone in the house. Finally chose this for connecting to my router and making it accessible to everyone.

It’s Ok!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s ok. It doesn’t have direct access from a usb to computer. You have to access all your files or whatever from the link via login. Besides that it’s good for backups and fair priced. But the application does lag wish it was as smooth as Apple cloud or google photos. But if your looking to save money it’s an ok buy

Not as good as the older drives.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was to replace my older WD cloud drive which was great, but after many many years, needed to be replaced. The software is not intuitive, and I have to map it as a network drive to my windows systems now, which is okay, but if I use their software, I cannot access the files on the network drive. It connects over the LAN and is fast enough. I always get WD drives, because in the past they have been easy to use and reliable. If I would have known about the changes, I would have gotten a USB Drive and connected it via my router which has USB 3.0 ports

Do not purchase.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly I want to like this product, but it's pretty terrible. There's some expectation of speed and reliability that just do not exist. Firstly, if the unit power cycles for any reason, it will index all the files again which takes a lengthy period of time, depending on how much space you've used, it can be over an hour. It's not accessible during this period. Secondly, the unit will randomly go offline, which requires a powercycle.(see above) Finally, the WD software required is bloated and slow. Sadly, I bought this as part of a planned install that was delayed, so I missed my return window and am now stuck with a product that I won't be using.

Easy set up. Lots of storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4TB of personal cloud space in a sleek, compact unit that sets up easily in less than 5 minutes! The software interface is easy to navigate. Having external storage for personal files is a big relief!

My Cloud Home 4TB
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical at first but purchased this and set it up very easily. I added my family on so that they can all back up their iphone photos or computers. I like being able to create albums that I can share with friends, and I can access it anywhere.
