Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the My Cloud Mirror's ease of use, ample storage capacity, and relatively easy setup process. Many appreciate its RAID capabilities for data protection and the ability to access files from various devices. However, some users experienced slow backup speeds and found the accompanying software to be less than ideal. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and storage outweighs the concerns about software and backup performance.

Replacement for photo storage in cloud

Basically my photos library burned up all the space in the cloud, leaving no room to store any regular files. Eventually the photos uploading from my phone stopped working, which was the whole point of the cloud. It took some work and a phone call to the Concierge to set this thing up, but it works fine. I set it up on RAID in order to ensure a data integrity in event of drive failure. Different users are restricted from seeing certain parts of the drive, thus I can keep work photos out of the family photos. It has automatic backup features that are built in for use with PCs (and Macs, too, but I'm not a Mac person).

    Doesn't work with USB Devices

Returned item today for store credit. Upset that I had to settle for store credit after all of the time and effort to try to make this thing work. Been a long time Best Buy customer - not sure when their return policy went from 30 days to 14 days, but in any event I figured that if the product doesn't work as advertised they would be willing to make it right. Within the first week I was having problem getting the unit to backup to USB devices. After a week of problems, contacted tech support. Took almost a week for them to get back to me, they seemed helpful. Gave details on how to replicate the issue, after a week got back to me a couple of times for more info, logs, etc. 2 weeks after my initial contact they closed the case. Replied to inquire why the case was closed. Now it's almost 30 days from the purchase date, so I research to buy a different brand, just as I'm ready to order a different unit, tech support escalates my case and seems that a fix is imminent. They string me along for 2 more weeks before saying that they can't duplicate the problem. Meanwhile, the issues are getting worse. I buy a new replacement, get it going (Netgear Ready NAS, much faster, and it works as advertised), then head to the store to return this unit. Perhaps I should have tried to get my money back from Western Digital, but in any event unhappy with product, WD's tech support, and Best Buy's customer service.

The best feature of this hard drive is that you can access it anywhere. I have the app on our iPad and is simple to get to ask my files. There is no app for windows phone any more so that's too bad

    Just Good for BackUp

HDDs are very hot to touch. Small files (Kbts) copying 2-3 times slower than big(Mb-Gb) ones. No idle time, working non stop, doing something. USB not for transferring files(only network ). Help(info) in cloud web interface is too short. Not so quiet as wanted. No fan inside.

    Buyer Beware

This was a replacement WD sent when a 'lower' WD model did not work. Unfortunately, there were so many issues with this as well that instead of having someone try and fix it, WD customer service simply asked if they could send a refund check. Not sure that covers the 17 hours of time on the phone with them. Literally. Buyer beware with this entire line of products.
