I purchased a similar silver hard drive for my wife and after seeing how affordable it was, I couldn't help but to get one for myself. Would you believe that neither one of us has used our hard drive yet? I have mine in safe keeping until that perfect moment. My wife and I are on the computer very frequently and just haven't set aside a few moments to enjoy our new hard drives. I really appreciate the value that I received for both hard drives. I compared a few hard drives on Best Buy's website to ensure that we got the best quality at a decent price. Data security was an important factor and both hard drives had password protection and data encryption. Combining those aspects with a great price and I was very satisfied with the outcome. I like that Best Buy has various options for different products that I look for from time to time. This was definitely another great shopping experience and the curbside pickup was awesome. As I mentioned in my review about my wife's hard drive, I wasn't expecting the hard drive to be so small. Despite this, it is a great convenience as you don't have to worry cause it uses very minimal space. We have transitioned from those days when bulky items used to clutter our desks or wherever you work on your computer.

This drive has performed reliably for nearly a year. No bad sectors. Huge storage and fast data transfer at good price. No disk drive lasts forever, but this one looks like it will give a lot of reliable service. I do power it down whenI don't need to access its files, which is consistent with how I use it. How it would function as an always on backup disk is not as certain, but it does have (I think) a power saving spin down mode, and I would not hesitate to use it for that purpose.

This is a good drive and the transfer speed is only slightly better than last years version. Simply put, for 2019, this drive underwhelms in features. You lose a transfer light and it is still the same USB 3.0 interface. They did change the outside to get rid of the finger print magnet of the previous model. I am a WD fan but feel that more could have been done to deliver a new product for this year. Essentially the only real difference is the software is updated, you lose the LED light, and the outside is just a little smaller and does not attract finger prints. You can download the newer software from the WD website.

I use these to back up my photo/video that I take daily as a real estate/architectural photographer/videographer. Every day I dump the folder for each job into a catch folder with the date. Then I transfer that folder to these hard drives to keep my archive organized and computer hard drive free.
They are small and reliable, and now I have all my photos and videos from my job archived and easily accessible and contained in a relatively small space. They are great and an important part of my work flow.
The affordable price is important as I go through a lot of them.

Got this drive as a backup for an 11 year old PC that was about to run out of memory. I needed to transfer 1.8 TB of data. I was able to connect it quickly and was able to transfer most of what needed in an hour or so. I didn’t have to use its proprietary software. The drive is fast and silent. Works great. It’s faster and more responsive than my again PC’s hard drive. Been using daily since. I highly recommend it.

Recently I retired some 9 year old drives that I've been using for backups. Replaced them with two of these and they've been running great. I've got SSD's that I use for "work data", these spinners are more than enough for backups and the price was right. I paid more than double for 4TB when I purchased the drives these replaced.
These are small/portable and I chose these for several reasons, past good experience with similar devices and WD overall, but also my old drives were AC powered, switching to the Passport series saves me two outlets on my UPS (it was getting cluttered!).

My daughter had a last-minute emergency where she needed more disk space, and this was the perfect fit. The solid state drive allows for faster data retrieval, and the physical size is perfect for both use and travel. The price was perfect for the size as well.

I've had one of these for a number of years, and I just bought another to dedicate to storing tutorials and pictures. The device does some with a disc for installing software, but that isn't necessary to use the drive and load tons of data for safe keeping. The price is good, and My Passport seems to work a little more reliably than any other storage system I've had in the past. Add to that its compact size and its really hard to beat. I'm not sure that there is a better option for home use.

These are great drives. I have 2 or 3 of them, and I got one for my mother. They've all been stable, no loss of data. One is the external drive for my PS5, and it's held up just fine. Can't ask for more than that, especially at the price point.

My old portable hard drive broke, so I bought this one. This portable hard drive is easy to use and has more space than my previous one. I like that it is slim, and not bulky.

I was overall satisfied, but if you are playing on a laptop and not going to be playing video games (or whatever you do) on a solid tabletop I would definitely worry about the cord or to be more careful with it. I think if your looking for a good terabyte though it is very good by the way I use this terabyte for downloading video games and I have not yet to have noticed it taking long to load (I’ve had it for about 6-7 months) so as I know with some terabytes do. So yes very good and definitely recommend.

I use this to increase the storage for my PS4. It was totally plug and play. Up and running in under a minute. I haven't experienced any lag when playing games downloaded to this. Excellent product. Getting another for my laptop

After reading other reviews, I chose this to replace my older (and much larger) WD 3TB drive that seemed to be lagging. This drive was easy to set up and partition into 3TB backup/1TB storage. So far it’s performing extremely well.

With this specific external memory I was able to save more than 4000 thousand photos in minutes. And it is really easy to utilize. I really recommend it since it’s not the first one I bought but it is the best one I got.
