Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the My Passport SSD's portability, small size, and speed as an SSD. Many appreciate its lightweight design and ample storage capacity for its size. However, some customers find the price to be relatively high and have experienced compatibility issues. The drive's ease of use and portability are frequently highlighted as positive aspects.

My only fear is that I will lose this tiny flash drive. But it's amazingly fast and does not heat up too much. It's incredibly light and great for travel.

The drive is good but the connector frustrates...

I liked the drive and actually drove 1.5 hours to get the drive with the size I wanted. It is very nice looking but it will show smudges. The drive was everything I expected but the connection was not consistent. Let me explain. The best speed I ever could get was about 398 MBs. I tried it on multiple computers and with different cables/types of connections. Look up USB Type-C, then look at the difference between USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.1 Gen 2, and Thunderbolt 3. They all look the same but have different cables and different technology in the connectors even though they connect and look the same. This means you may need to change the connector or cable when switching machines even though both machines may actually have a USB Type-C connector. That also means the performance will differ between machines. Frustrated to say the least.

Expensive but Works Like a Champ!

It's a little expensive given you can buy a bare drive for $100+ cheaper and buy a drive enclosure for 15 bucks. That said, if you have USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB C) this will be faster than a standard 2.5" SSD in an enclosure (it's also smaller physically). It works with USB-C, USB 3.0 (adapter included), and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 (I needed this to be compatible with older ports for my IT job). Formatted ExFAT so it's compatible with PC & Mac. I also purchased because you can use the free Acronis WD Edition with this drive. I clone many drives using this software in my IT job. For these reasons, it was worth replacing the mechanical WD Passport I had in my work bag. I'm sure in a month I'll be kicking myself when the price drops, but that's the cost of being an early adopter of newer tech.
