My experience with this item was that I needed to use it with a Macbook Pro laptop and it would not mount when I plugged it into the USB on my computer. It seemed like it was not getting power. So I returned it and got the My Passport for Mac and it works great for my backups.

I would never recommend this to anyone even as a backup drive. The design is flawed if any damage happens to the drive you cannot do anything to retrieve the information

I use the portable hard drive to watch home movies on my blu-ray players and this one was not compatible with the Sony players I have, even after reformatting it.

I thought WD made pretty good stuff but this isn't. Maybe someone didn't show up for work in the QA department that day.

It works but having to disconnect and reconnect along with occasional notice that it needs to be repaired is bothersome.

Very nice and small plug and play device. Lots of storage and works within seconds of plugging it in. I have had this for 3 months now and loving it. No more worrying about losing stuff if and when computer crashes again. Have lost lots of pictures / videos etc before buying this. Better late than never.

It works well, but to much hassle when using as a backup for PC and a MAC.

It is a good product from Best Buy, though could be better

Not happy with the windows to MAC conversion using this device...

bought it to back up the computer. Hope It works when I need it.

I am very unhappy with this device. I have had it about a month and a half and something went wrong with the drive which it said device is empty. I called WD and they suggested I sent it to one the their "professional recovery" specialists. THEN I find out it'll cost me about 1200 dollars to recover all of my lost photos!!!!!!

I've had nothing but problems with this hard drive.

I use this drive as my backup for photos, storing digital media for plane travel and my goto drive when I need to transfer files. The USB 3.0 device moves large movies and files over in matter of seconds. I can move data easily between laptop, desktop and tablet quickly and easily as well it is large enough to be my data backup drive.;;

Decent pdt. I got recently from store. Still very slow to use.

I bought this portable hard drive to use as extra storage for my Xbox One. The works great and gives me plenty of extra storage for my Xbox One. I would recommend this drive for any one looking to add extra storage to their Xbox One. The price was great and it has a good warranty.

This is a great buy if you're looking for a reliable and portable backup HDD. However, the software that comes with it is not well designed. Even more annoying is the fact that the software clogs up the NIC communication because it constantly pings every device on the network; slowing down network speed noticeably. Buy the HDD, just don't use Western Digital's poorly written software.

I have recently switched over to using the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and wanted to ensure I do not eat up precious hard drive space on the system. Therefore I decided to pull the trigger on an external drive. After reading many reviews I decided to go with the My Passport Ultra 2TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive. I chose this drive because of its flexible USB 3.0/2.0 compatibility along with its 2TB storage capacity. I store lots of large files (CAD models, 3D Scan Data, Design Prints) and these files eat up hard drive space at a rapid speed. I have about 700GB of data stored on this drive and it has no problems handling searches or opening folders. My work PC in the office and my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 can easily access everything on this drive.

Great product. Small and very portable.Comes loaded with terrific software for backups and others.

I have to wait for the technology of my Ubuntu Linux box to catch up.
