I have two of these in a WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra operating primarily as an NVR in RAID 1 (plus partition for local network incremental backups) and it works great. Low heat, decent speed, it just works. Continuous writing from 2 cameras plus motion detection writing from 6 cameras plus occasional playback reading from up to three devices. Running for about 2 months now, no issues.
I haven't recorded any R/W speeds or temperatures, so I can't speak to performance specifics, but this drive does what it is supposed to do without any need for user monitoring or intervention, which is exactly what I needed.

Drive failed after 3 years of light use

I purchased this drive in June 2017 - it failed 3 years later exactly.
I did not use it much. It was my second drive that I used for data storage for my videos and pictures and it was off most of the time my PC was on because I rarely accessed the data. I was shocked, when my PC notified me that the drive was going bad. Tested it with WD utilities and it showed bad sectors and was unreadable in some spots. I am seriously surprised by this. I was hoping that the drive would last longer. I was lucky to not lose much of my data. I no longer trust the 24/7 rating and the recommendation for surveillance recording. I do not believe that to be true.
