Freezing Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the WDTV Hub for about 4-5 months right now and it was working just fine until I upgraded the unit to the latest firmware. Hoping WD would know this but the latest firmware causes the unit to freeze even when you leave the unit at the home screen. Meaning the unit is completely hopeless. Not just me who have this problem but many others as well. If you want to spend your money, disregard this product as its pricey and not worth it.

Do not use for MLB.tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a WD TV to watch MLB.tv since it was approved by MLB. First one kept stopping, so called tech support. They kept saying it was my internet connection but ended up sending a replacement one to me. Set up the new one and it worked OK for a couple of games, but them started to have problems again. It would keep stopping in the middle of the game, sometimes lasting a few seconds, sometimes for a minute, and sometimes it would freeze. This year it kept locking up and I would have to go back and restart the game. Got tired of this and so I went out and bought a Roku 2 XS. What a difference, in a month of using this every day, not one time has it stopped. Worked like a champ. Get Roku not WD.

So awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best media device I've ever purchased. Plays all my movie files, does all my streaming (hulu, Netflix). It's the best there is. So don't be totally lame anymore, buy this thing. Swag

Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Other than the lack of the WatchESPN app, this unit does just about everything I need. I live that I can plug in my hard drive and watch downloaded files as well as Hulu and YouTube.

Very frustrating product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have purchased many WD players over the years and this one has to be the worst. I have returned the product twice because the unit will locke up after a firmware update, it will not get past the WD Live boot screen. If you can get it to work, the wireless connection data must be reset daily. I use it for about half of the time for Netflix which is frustrating as it will not retain your login info. Using the remote to enter in this info every time my son wants to watch Netflix gets frustrating. Entering in a long email address using the arrow buttons can get annoying and if you hit the BACK button which is between the left and up buttons then you get to start all over. I am not too happy with the product, they seemed to get too complex with services for what the unit can handle.

Dont waste your time or money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First one I picked up was inoperable. The wall wart was bad, took it back and was given a new one. Connected the new one and it was unable to read .AVI files from an external drive, which I can view on a Mac. Tried to connect to the Mac over the network, no luck, it doesnt work with Lion,Macs newest OS and I dont own a Windows computer or expect to ever buy one. Watched a video on You Tube.Video quality is good, exactly the same as my LG Blue Ray player which is MUCH easier to use. I took it back, its not what it is cracked up to be.

Total product failure!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not let any good comments fool you like they did me. I read the comments before I purchased the WD TV Live. Let me tell you: the only way this product will deliver any satisfaction is if you are using small sized USB flash drives or an external hard drive with only a few files on it. My external has 100's of movies and even more music. I figured I didn't need it to connect to my wireless network to play files from my PC (which is good, because it is terribly unreliable in that aspect#. Every time I would add new files to my hard drive, it would take atleast 4 hours to compile the data before I could use it. Even then it would stop here and there throughout a movie. When that happened, most of the time, I had to start the movie over again and forward to the point where it previousely stopped, hoping in vein that it would not stop again. That is if I was lucky enough to get the device to even recognize that my hard drive was hooked up. As far as wireless capabilities: It is nearly useless. I was able to connect to Pandora and Youtube sometimes, but the connection kept dropping. My wireless network supports a PC, printer, laptop and sometimes an Ipad without any issues, but the WD TV Live would always lose connection. Before I finally threw it accross the room, I could not even get it to connect wirelessly anymore #with fully updated firmware). Please do not make the same mistake I made purchasing this garbage. All the promises make it sound like a great product, but it does not deliver. You will waste more time with it's shortcomings than you will enjoying your data. I just went back to hooking one of my PCs to my TV to access my data. It's not so convenient, but atleast it's reliable, and the wireless connection never drops. The only good thing I can say about this product is that when it does work, it reads AVI files, which was my major concern when I purchased it... I have not tried any similar products because I want to avoid the same disappointment I experienced with this, but I can atleast say that this product is garbage. Wait for technology to improve before you waste your money and go through the stress. By the way: I don't use mine anymore, so if you want to try it out, I will sell you mine for half price.

Buy a Roku instead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works OK, but the Roku works so much better. The only reason why I bought this was because I thought it would play my Windows Media Center recorded television--it doesn't unless I convert the files--which is a time consuming process. Also, very annoying, if the unit gets unplugged, it loses all your settings for your wireless network and Netflix, Hulu, etc., which means all that info has to be slowly and painfully re-entered using the remote. Also, this doesn't have as many channel options as the Roku.

Buyer's remorse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The warranty replacement that I now have doesn't seem to work much better than the first one. Freezing, cutting out, sound dropping. AppleTV works great, ROKU works great. This is disappointing. The first one that I unplugged and reset several times seems to be how they are going to work for me. Wish I could just return it, but was hoping the first was just a bad unit. Right now for the third time I'm going to have to unplug and reset so that I can get out of one of the services. It's easy to work...if it worked.

So-So
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't get it to connect to the internet with my Verizon Fios Router so I have not had the chance to check out all the features. Not sure at this point if it is a problem with the Router or the WDTV

Sling Player on the WDTV Live is worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are buying this for the Sling Player app save your money and wait for Roku or AppleTV to come out with it. The connection constantly times out and stops communicating with the Sling Box. Then its nearly impossible to get the connection back. Switch to a PC and the Sling Player works just fine so it's clearly the WD TV Live Sling Player that is garbage. Oh and I have a WD TV Play also and it's equally bad and perhaps even worse.

didnt work in my network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.High hopes for this product, good feature set and also mainly good reviews. Unfortunately, it would crash my wireless consistently 3 or 4 minutes after plugging it in. Everyone in my house lost connectivity as soon as this device was used. Not sure where the issue was and I honestly didn't feel like troubleshooting. My router is a netgear WNDR3700 that otherwise has been flawless. Of course best buy was no-hassle with the return.
